I love a good torta and had time to kill one morning, so I looked up some options and landed on Que Torta! I drive past this place daily and never noticed it tucked away in a tiny strip of shops. I had the breakfast torta and watermelon agua fresca. Agua Fresca was full of watermelon deliciousness and refreshing. The torta though, oh my goodness! The roll was fresh and way better than my usual torta place. It was piled high with ham, egg, tomato, lettuce, jalapeño, onion, and Mayo (maybe chipotle Mayo?) flavor explosion for sure and huge! I ended up sharing half with a friend and now we're both craving more ¡Que Tortas! Took a star off for the dining area, which was only inside and quite hot (at about 10am on a 70 degree day). Last night I got a mango smoothie, a corn cup, a salmon torta, and a bionico. Everything was a 10/10. I was contemplating getting the bionico as they had so many options for treats & knew I was already getting the smoothie but I'm so glad I did get it, it was my favorite thing I've ordered so far & it made me so happy as it took my back to when I had my first one in Mexico City. A buddy of mine told me about this new place in my neighborhood in El Cajon, said it was very good, so had to give it a try. I'll start off by saying I'd really like to see this little mom & pops hole in the wall succeed! It's definitely a torta/sandwich shop, not a taco shop at all. I don't normally order tortas, but did and it was very tasty! And, glad I split it with a buddy as it was good size! The bread was perfect; toasted, tender with a nice flavor. We ordered the spicy "Que Torta" special that had a nice blend of onion, jalapeno, avocado, lettuce, tomato with their spicy sauce (not chipotle). The spicy sauce didn't disappoint! Had to wait for it, but the heat kicked in nicely with an excellent rich flavor! Also on the torta were a couple thin slices of "pork loin ham" and turkey. My buddy actually said, "there's no meat in here", but after a little digging, we found it. Had we not known, we'd of thought it was a vegetarian torta, which there's nothing wrong with that... well... maybe. This is why only three stars. And, we told the owner that as well, who is a very nice and polite lady. Aside from the small portion of meat, it was a winner in every way. The agua frescas were excellent as well.
