Estrada's Surf n' Turf is one helluva good burrito!
    Pete T.

Anytime we visit this Estrada's, I check the Specials menu board on an easel next to the service counter. On this day, one of the specials spoke to me. The Estrada's Surf 'n Turf. Carne or pollo (I chose carne), shrimp, Swiss sauce, rice, cheese and mushrooms. Atypical burrito ingredients, particularly "Swiss sauce", which honestly, I had no idea what to expect. I was intrigued. It was one of the best, most interesting burritos that I've ever had. The flavors all worked so well together. The burrito was loaded with carne and shrimp. The ratio of rice was perfect. Not too much rice. The Swiss sauce carried that Swiss cheese tang. Mushrooms were a subtle, but welcome addition. It was a fat burrito that fed me twice. Becky ordered a tried-and-true Carne Asada Burrito and was very happy with it. Estrada's carne burritos are always great. They also always ask if you want American or Mexican guacamole. Always appreciate the option. Bex always gets the real stuff. This Estrada's is located at 9630 Carlton Hills Blvd, next to Pathways church. For whatever reason we've always gotten better food from this Estrada's compared to the one just down the street. Althoug both have excellent service.

Estrada's never misses. I always get the carne asada burrito plain with American guacamole on the side, and it's honestly perfect every time. The meat is flavorful, juicy, and not overcooked like a lot of places. Their hot sauce takes it to another level. Simple, consistent, and exactly what you want from a legit taco shop. Service is top notch & love the vibes it's so chill & homie! 10/10

    Carne asada burrito.

Busy at 5:30 but their customer service was tip top shape! The cashier knew his regulars names and was super nice. I ordered a carne asada burrito and I asked what was in it and they let me know I could order any way I want it. It was delicious and as big as a 12 inch sub sandwich. Visiting from Sacramento but would come here again! :)

Went to the farmers market in this parking lot and stopped by here. Heard that the meatball soup was popular so we ordered that and fish tacos, chips and guacamole. Didn't realize that they charge a full bag of chips. It came out in a small brown bag. The guacamole wasn't as fresh as I liked. Fiancé said the fish taco was good. It was big. Albondigus was flavorful and meaty. It was a big container not the half size. It came with two flour tortillas, rice, onion and cilantro for you to make your own taco. Although the fish tacos were good, we wouldn't come back for that. We would come back for the meatball soup.

I stopped by for a couple breakfast burritos. They were made quickly, service was prompt, and there was plenty of seating inside. I'm a fan of the habanero salsa with the burritos. I'd say it's a solid spot of you're in the area.

Bit into a toothpick in my flauta, ouch.

Food is good, however, last night I bit into a beef flauta and had pain shooting through my tooth. Turns out, I bit into a toothpick. I was sharing the flautas with my 3 year old, so I'm glad I was the one to bite into it and not her. But this is the 2nd time this has happened, that's why I'm writing this review. Everything we have ever ordered from here is good. If you call in an order for pick up, add 5 mins onto what they say when it will be ready.

I visit Havana Grill whenever I want some tasty oxtail.  I noticed oxtail was one of the specials.  Last time I visited the oxtail was on the regular menu and you could order it anytime. Oxtail was extremely tender and juicy.  The mix of beef flavor and the spices in the sauce were delicious.  This is my favorite oxtail dish in town. French fries were crisp and had a delicious fried flavor.  The oil was fresh and there was no aftertaste.  Excellent fries. Pineapple upside down cake was dense and did not have a fresh baked aura.  The outside part was starting to harden like it was getting stale so I guess it was baked at least a day ago.  Cake had a mostly mild flavor.  I didn't taste the pineapple though the top was lined with it.  I did taste a ton of ginger flavor.  It appears pieces of ginger were mixed in with the pineapple.  I love ginger as part of soy/ginger seasoning for fish but not in a cake.  This is one of the worst pineapple upside down cakes I have had.  My favorite is at Roy's where you have to give them 30 minute notice and they bake it to order.  Roy's version was piping hot out of the oven, was moist and fluffy, with amazing pineapple flavor. Staff provided fast and friendly service.

As a Colombian who has been craving authentic Colombian cuisine since my last visit to New York in…read moreDecember, I can confidently say this restaurant truly satisfied those cravings. Being nearly eight months pregnant, my expectations were especially high, and it is rare to find a place that meets them so well. From the seasoning of the food to the warm and attentive service, everything about this restaurant stands out. Although I don't recall my server's name, he was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout. The ambiance is also worth noting--the space is large, offers plenty of seating options, and even features a large TV, making it a great spot to relax or watch sports. To start, I ordered a watered mango juice along with a beef empanada. The empanada exceeded my expectations--despite being on the smaller side, it was packed with flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more to go, which speaks for itself. They were served with fresh ají, a traditional sauce that complemented them perfectly. For my main course, I had the carne asada plate, which included steak, rice, beans, sweet plantains, avocado, tomato slices, and a small arepa. Every component of the dish was well-executed--the beans were flavorful, the meat was well-seasoned, and the overall plate felt authentic. It is often difficult to find truly authentic Colombian food, especially in San Diego, where options are limited or not genuinely Colombian. This restaurant, however, delivers on authenticity and flavor. The portion size was generous, and I ended up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. In addition to the empanadas (two chicken and three beef), I also ordered a buñuelo and a cheese arepa to go. Unfortunately, these items did not meet the same standard. The arepa lacked flavor and was overly greasy, and the buñuelo was dry and similarly oily, even after absorbing excess grease from the bag. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Colombian food, especially given how rare it is to find quality options in this area. Friends of mine visited recently as well and thoroughly enjoyed their bandeja paisa, further confirming the consistency of the food. I will definitely be returning--especially for those empanadas.
