I switched to this practice within the past year and, at nearly every visit, I was told by Dr. Max that my teeth looked great and that I had good upkeep--yet I was also consistently recommended additional extra treatments. In my case, this included sealants, some of which I was later told had already fallen out by my next visit. This felt very different from my previous dental experience, where I never felt "sold" extra services. I also recommend double-checking your insurance coverage before any procedures. This office does not verify plan details or eligibility in advance like other dentists do, and their estimates are largely incorrect, which led to unexpected costs for me. They also did not inform me of potential lower-cost alternatives or downgrades in coverage for common procedures like fillings, which they are required to do. On a positive note, my hygienist was friendly, thorough, and honest, and I appreciated the availability of early 7am appointments. Overall, however, the experience felt more transactional than patient-focused, and I did not feel that my best interests were being prioritized. read more

First I want to start by saying I have come here for several years. But the relationship deteriorated after the they wrongly scheduled my husband for a night guard which they never talked about or he needed, and they thought he was someone else! Then they proceeded to argue with him, my husband was mad when he got home so I called and the office manager still didn't admit their mistake. That's number 1. DR. Max told my husband he was boring because he couldn't make any money off his teeth. Number 2. Dr. Max said I needed something done to a tooth (it wasn't bothering me) a filling of some sort. So it was done. My tooth started hurting AFTER the procedure, I came in to have it looked at and they did a little work, I think I came in again where I was told I was COSTING him money. After that I let him know how I felt about the front desk, (I feel the manager is RACIST because of the comments about my Native American insurance) and how rude the person who greets you is. Number 3 I like the location of the office so I started seeing the other dentist DR. Lo. He was and is professional and a good dentist. Did several check ups and cleanings with him and his assistant, he let me know I needed a crown. Scheduled my next cleaning for May2023. March/April 2023 my crown broke so I called and got the answering machine and left a message that I needed to schedule a crown with DR. Lo I waited and waited and didn't get a call back so I figured they didnt want to see me as a client again. Number 4 So I put the call out to my friends and found a really great dentist! 2 crowns in one day and they are beautiful. May 28th I get a call from one of the good ladies that works there saying I missed my cleaning. I went on to tell her about leaving a message for the cracked crown and not hearing back from them. She was mortified that I wasn't called back and very apologetic and wanting to help me with my records etc. She also told me Dr. Lo was leaving the practice and going to a different office. If I wasn't already set up with my new dentist I would have followed him. **So see him not Max. Dr. Max is lazy, the work he has done on my teeth is mediocre and he is only in it for the money. Extremely Poor Customer Service What started out as a positive dental experience last year ended up with poor customer service due to the lack of timely follow-up by Dr. Bloeser, also known as Dr. Max. Or did Dr. Bloeser actually receive my messages? The dental office office closed for several days during the snow in late December and my appointment was cancelled. I received a text from the receptionist Melissa on Sunday January 2 asking me if I wanted an appointment for 01/04/2022 and I responded "yes". I finally received a text from Melissa who indicated that the 01/04/2022 appointment had been taken but didn"t offer an alternative date. I called the office on 01/04/2022 to find out when I could be seen and she said they were now taking appointments in March. I asked her on two separate dates to speak to the DDS and she consistently told me he was out of the office or in surgery. I was thus unable to speak to him in person to see if the issue could be resolved. I suspect Melissa screens complaints and doesn't allow one to speak directly to the DDS. Melissa called me on 01/05/2022 indicating they had a cancellation and I told her I had already located another DDS in the neighborhood. I located a well respected dental office on the hill and made an appointment for 01/10/2022. read more

Have been going here x 10 years, had been fine. Seems like care has declined the last 2 years, all new/temp hygienists (seems like all the old experienced ones left- first bad sign). Today, the dentist wasn't even there! I have truly never gone to the dentist and the dentist wasn't there- and they did not tell me ahead of time, the front desk lady (overall rudely) told me "his schedule changed. you don't need to see a dentist every time, we won't charge you for that part." It was not about being charged, its about taking time out of my day to see a trained professional who can identify problems with my teeth. And how does this non-medical trained person know how frequently I need to see a dentist? Its like going to a doctor and only seeing the MA. The hygienist was also very inexperienced, forgot to do the fluoride, I asked if I needed it at the end, she said sure if you want it (why is it up to me) and painted it very weirdly all over my teeth including front teeth, never had it put anywhere but molars before. I had the most pleasant experience at QA Hilltop Dental yesterday. How many people can say the left their Dentist with a smile on their face? Every person that I interacted with was efficient, friendly, and took the time to walk me through what was coming next, get to know me on a personal level (you even get to choose your own music!), and educate me on the recommended treatment. I had a prior negative experience with another Dentist that I felt was taking advantage of me and recommending pricey, unnecessary treatments. Dr. Max explained that this was not his practice and the proof was in the pudding - he was approachable, straightforward, and candid about the rationale behind everything he recommended. Ok these guys have an Amazing front desk, amazing dentists and amazing hygienists that all work harmoniously together. They really have all their ducks in a row which has been different to the experience I've had to date with other dentists in Seattle: 1. they seem to have a bunch of fancy technology and equipment that I've not seen at the 3 other dentists I've used in Seattle over the last couple of years, 2. the software seems to allow them to get you answers quickly. For instance, the hygienist is able to check your insurance for niche coverage questions immediately for you while you are in the chair rather than having to refer to front desk. They use iPads and their computer systems to show you visualizations which help explain exactly what is gong on with your teeth. 3. All the staff are totally up to speed on the office processes and technologies which helps them be ultra efficient and avoid miscommunications with the patient. 4. They are very patient-centric. Their communication and demeanor is totally tailored to help me understand what is going on. I got a great print-out during the first visit explaining my somewhat complicated situation and what it would cost me. Next visit (they fit me in a couple of days later) I had some work done and was given an overhead iPad with Netflix and headphones while the work was done and then given a great recap email that reiterated everything I was told in the appointment. Finally the fluorescent lights are covered by translucent pictures the sky so instead of staring directly into bright office lights you have something nice to look at. You can even choose the music that is played in your little section of the clinic. Hilltop dental has opened for routine dental care. I went in for my cleaning this week. The office has taken many steps to protect their staff and patients during this current Covid 19 pandemic. A plexiglass shield has been installed at the check in desk. No waiting in reception area. All employees were wearing layers of PPE. Payment for services was completed as I sat in the dental chair. Some things I like about Queen Anne Hilltop Dental: 1. Weekend and evening hours! This is a big deal. 2. Friendly, (mostly) attentive front desk staff. They are obviously a pretty happy bunch and chat a lot which, on my first visit, meant I had to push to get some attention, but on my second visit they were great. Seems like a nice place to work. 3. Hygienists were super friendly and explained everything carefully. 4. Dr. Max is quick, efficient, and offers to explain everything. He's not the warmest dentist I've ever had, but his competence and care is evident. I just had a crown (temp) put in, and I was surprised by how mostly painless the whole thing was. Not even all that uncomfortable, actually. The follow-up call by Dr. Max was also really nice. My take: This practice gets the job done well without a whole lot of pomp and circumstance. Hadn't been to the dentist in like 4 years, and was getting pretty worried, and had pain between a couple of my teeth. Went to some other office on queen anne ave and they wouldn't take my Delta Dental insurance. But they said that Hilltop Dental does. So I called and made an appointment. Everyone was so friendly and the intake paperwork was very thorough, I indicated that I like to hear all the details as they go. They had Xylitol gum at the reception desk! The place uses all the latest technology, it's really cool. And the doctor and hygienists are all very nice, friendly, professional, and great at their jobs. You can tell they really like to come to work. I was worried about the condition of my dental health and they gave me a no-BS assessment which was very reassuring! I had a few cavities but that is not unusual for my age. I made appointments straight away to have them filled and the costs were all pre-explicated for me so there are no-unkowns, they even showed me how much insurance would cover. I am very impressed with Hilltop Dental and will be making an effort to keep them as my dental office for years to come! read more

So, this review is geared more towards people who don't need a dentist for regular cleaning. In fact, this is geared more toward people who might not even been in to see a dentist in a long time due to whatever reasons, and had an emergency just sort of pop up, and was in desperate need of one. This is what happened. I had a broken tooth, and because of the way I am about not having any money and all that, I figured I'd ignore it since it didn't hurt. Well, it started hurting. I didn't get any sleep at all, and missed work thinking I need to get this handled now before it gets worse. This office was the closest to my house and even though they are out of my network, I went to them because they were able to see me immediately (and by that I mean, I was on the phone talking to them still when they said "if you can, come on in now"). I got in and the office is small, but neat, and honestly, who give a crap about the office so long as it is clean? I'm there for my teeth not for a massage or to watch some crap television on a big ol' LCD. I filled out a little paperwork, while getting a consult and talking to Dr. Bloeser who took a look at it and quickly laid out what my options were. He was very good with somebody who had basically just squeezed in between appointments and whose insurance wasn't fully covered. He wasn't trying to pitch me anything, not being a salesman, and I always appreciate that of medical professionals (because most of them seem to be treading more towards that field rather than medicine). At the end of the consult, I decided to just get the tooth extracted, along with a wisdom that had started growing in next to it. In less than what felt like half an hour, the teeth were out (painlessly I might) and I was going over follow up care and procedures. I know this sounds like the fast food of dentistry, but I think this just means they're extremely good at what they do; efficient. At no point did I actually feel rushed, or like they didn't care. Even though they're out of network for my insurance, I can see myself using them as my regular tooth care experts from here on out. And the fact that they're actually open on Saturdays is a huge help for working class folks like me. read more

While searching for a new dentist for the hubby and I, I ran across Queen Anne Hilltop Dental and I'm so glad I did. Thank you fellow Yelpers, once again you steered me in the right direction. Dr. Max and his staff are professional yet down to earth and you can truly tell they care about each patients oral health. Dr. Max spent time before our appointments answering questions and getting to know us and our dental history. X-rays were done digitally, and the exam was thorough with all of our questions answered. So often you go to a dentist and they try to up-sell you on everything and the kitchen sink.....but not here. Kudos to Kim, the hygienist. She had the "pleasure" to deep root clean both mine and the husbands teeth, (neither of us had been to a dentist in a few year), and some how made the experience painless. As other Yelpers stated, you can listen to your favorite tunes or watch a show on Netflix while your getting your teeth all pretty, but I just ended up chewing the fat with Kim and had a great time. Dr. Max is kind and thorough and his receptionist Jill is very attentive and knowledgeable. I had a question about my gums and he took pictures for future reference, which my other dentist didn't offer. The location is in a great neighborhood if you're waiting for someone while they're seeing the dentist. Close by is Macrina Bakery, Ken's Market and Bustle (for coffee & sandwiches.) Walk a few blocks west for a view from the Crown of Queen Anne. The only thing more I would want is if I lived near Queen Anne or if Dr. Max had an office in Snohomish County. read more

(3 visits every 6 months right) on my 1st visit they spent a lot of extra time since I had not been to the dentist for awhile. (I actually have pretty good teeth.) They only billed for a 1st visit! I also have a very sensitive spot on a tooth that they are very careful about and did a few things to help the tooth. It worked the spot is much better. I moved to Seattle recently and was hoping to find a good dentist on the first try-out. I was glad to find Queen Anne Hilltop Dental! From the early stages of booking a new patient appointment to the actual visit, the process was smooth, friendly and professional. The office is lovely, walls are not covered from end to end with the typical super bleach white smile, but rather pleasant pictures. You know you are going to the dentist, I have always found a bit obnoxious the decor of nothing but before and after smiles of treatments that I think, most of the population have no interest on or do not seem realistic. So, I appreciated not been surrounded by that. Costs and procedures were explained to me thoroughly, and I was seeing very timely. As a new patient I was given a deep cleaning and no cavities! They explained to me everything that was done, my oral health today and the overall visit was very pleasant. I've had dental treatments since I was 8 yrs old and although I do not dislike dentists visits, is just something I find myself a bit restless about it while during the visit. I do not recall feeling this way about my appointment with Dr. Max; he is really great. I am beyond happy to have found a great dentist so quickly in my new grounds, do not doubt it; they are truly great :) read more

Because the high crime rate in Seattle, which is out of control: I gladly forfeited my $80 deposit and decided not to travel to Queen Anne Hilltop Dental in Seattle at the last minute, after contemplating the de-fund the police movement, skyrocketing crime, homelessness and the lost war on drugs. I fear for my personal safety and no longer feel safe in American cities. I'm sure that Queen Anne Hilltop Dental would have liked to provide me with exceptional dental care (implants and teeth whitening). However, the skyrocketing petrol prices have made it too expensive for me to drive to Seattle for the day. They would rather use corn to produce ethanol, and I would prefer to eat than to drive my car any distance to speak of. I do thank Dr. Max for his dedication and excellent communication skills. Notwithstanding, I will only drive to Seattle in order to fly out of this dangerous city and visit Northern Europe, where I feel much safer. read more

I went in for my first appointment a few months ago, routine cleaning. Dr. Max informed me it was probably time to have my wisdom teeth out. No urgency, but it would be better to do now that wait for problems to crop up. He explained the process, and why it was important. Went in earlier this week for the procedure, in and out in under 2 hours. It was as good of an experience as you could expect for pulling teeth!
