My Gentle Dental in West Seattle closed so was referred to Capitol Hill location. Went to my first cleaning and exam and as usual when a Dentist looks in my mouth, my gold crown is noticed and is always given a compliment to its quality. All good. Second cleaning, different Dentist looks at Xrays, compliments me on gold crown but after 5-10 seconds says it needs to be replaced and told me I can sell the gold online. I tried to get more clarity, but he seemed in a hurry and said there is a gap and it needs to be done. Quote: $1200. Got a second opinion today. Crown is in perfect condition. Not even close to consider a new one. Dentist said he rarely contradicts another dentist but this was too obvious. Buyer beware!!! read more

Front desk staff has always been friendly to me and the dental hygienists are lovely, however, there have been multiple scheduling errors and some issues with service and professionalism at the office. I've moved my own work schedule around multiple times just to have them cancel last minute due to double booking errors or call in same day and ask me to come earlier so they can close or leave earlier. I had one experience where I was asked to confirm my appointment in advance, and I did so by voicemail a few days prior, but when I showed up they told me it had already been cancelled, without notice, due to no confirmation. They admitted it was their miss but still could not accommodate same day. Another time I was told by two separate people that I wouldn't be charged for a service (fluoride) and then they billed me later by mail. I had to make multiple calls for it to be resolved, and received 5+ letters about it in the meantime. I've had two crowns done - one was due to a chipped tooth and the crown was well done, a great experience. The other crown was advised by the dentist as prophylactic despite me not having any symptoms with my filling, and the result was so painful I had to be on ibuprofen consistently for 4 weeks after the procedure and I now have a receded gum line on that tooth. He has since advised that two more crowns are needed for prophylaxis (again, with no current symptoms) but I've been hesitant to proceed without a second opinion. Overall there has been more bad than good in the experience, and I'm looking forward to moving my care to a more professional office. read more

I was a first time patient and shocked at the quality of the cleaning I received. I was booked for an hour and a half to replace 4 existing fillings from many years ago, and was somehow in and out in less than 45 minutes. The majority of my appt was the fillings, the person who cleaned my teeth introduced himself as a dental assistant (NOT hygienist) which to be honest I didn't even know was legal. It took him under 3 minutes to run over my teeth with the polishing brush, just a single touch on each. When he flossed, he skipped the entire section of my teeth under my permanent retainer. When fluoride was applied, he wasn't even looking at my mouth and I felt him apply it to mostly my gums and the roof of my mouth. They repeatedly told me they were understaffed that day, but I would rather have been rescheduled for another day and actually had my teeth cleaned.. read more

The standard of care is good; the doctors and staff are friendly. However, their scheduling is poor. I got my braces on over a year ago, and was supposed to get them off to get a cleaning. This is critical, as residue tends to build up, permanently affecting the quality of your teeth. They made 3 separate appointments, and cancelled each one ON THE DAY. So now its been rescheduled for like a year... From reading Carlos T's review, it seems this is a regular occurrence. Something smells fishy. My suspicion is they overbook patients, make up pretend appointments to placate customers , and then cancel on the day. Very dissatisfied. read more

I can't leave a good enough review for these angels. Where do I begin...short vers; I found myself in an unexpected insurance bind after moving states. I didn't realize my usually-great insurance suddenly wouldn't cover anything. I discovered this, after developing sudden and sharp tooth/gum pain. Not only was the entire staff of Gentle Dental sweet and patient, they were able to schedule an emergency appt to see me same day, and perform a limited exam for a very reasonable fee since I wouldn't have insurance. They were professional, thorough, and discovered pretty quickly I'd lodged a popcorn kernel under my gums that flossing was only driving deeper. They removed it and I couldn't be more grateful, I had no idea and was in some noticeable pain. Thank you guys, your help really saved me. read more

Dr Fletcher was excellent as well as his assistant. Everything was made clear from the very beginning with cost so there were no surprises at the end. Both the receptionist were friendly and cordial. I needed to get my 2nd molar extracted and from the time I walked in the door to the time I walked out was less than 1 hour. I had gotten more my X-ray exam as well as my tooth extracted. I've had problems with other dentist where I left feeling drunk or experiencing a lot of pain during my operation. I had neither. I never even felt the tooth come out. What's more, it was very affordable. I don't have any dental insurance, and was alleviated that all and all it was less than $300. Would highly recommend. I'll be sticking to this dental clinic from now on. read more

If I could give zero stars I would!!! This was the worst dentist I've ever been to. Dr Fletcher is very nice and well mannered but when I had my first filling they were far from "gentle" and the whole time he was arguing with the dental assistant as they were removing my filling. When I went to get my dental cleaning following the procedure they worked on my wrong tooth!!! Filled in my "watch" tooth instead of removing my old metal filling. I WILL NEVER RETURN and advice all to not waste your time or money. read more

While their dentistry and quality of the service is good, this rating is towards the receptionist area. Every single time I have an appointment scheduled months in advance they call me last minute to tell me they have to reschedule or cancel completely. Yet they are very quick to talk down on us when we are 5 minutes late. Also, yesterday one of the receptionists, the male receptionist was quick to assume my country of origin just by my name. I guess all Hispanic brown people are from Puerto Rico? When I told him I'm not from Puerto Rico he didn't apologize and just pretended like nothing happened. I'll be changing dentists because while it's convenient and I can deal with reschedules, I can't deal with untrained receptionists that think assuming stuff from name and color is fine and funny. read more

I've been with this office for six months now. Unfortunately, my experience has been very difficult. I've shown up for appointments to find my doctor unavailable and told they forgot to call me. My Invisalign trays have been missing for six weeks. I was told to come pick something up for treatment, only to arrive and be told they mixed me up with another patient. I've called a number of times with no answer. Emails aren't returned for 10 plus days. It's been very challenging to be a patient here and as soon as my insurance allows, I will be switching clinics expeditiously. read more

I was a patient at the West Seattle location that suddenly shut down. Now that I'm at a better dental office I realize how shoddy this place was and the dentists were terrible. I was given a procedure that did not work and was told I would get my co-pay back. It never happened. The West Seattle location closed 2 days after I was told I would get a reimbursement. I had to call the Capitol Hill location, good luck getting a hold of anyone there. I finally spoke with someone who again stated I would get my reimbursement, that was months ago and still nothing. They also charged my dental insurance and never reimbursed that either. I called the company itself, they referred me back to Capitol Hill. Biggest scam! Don't go to any gentle dentals. read more

The clinical staff are great at what they do, and the management of patient services feels very organized and efficient. Buyer beware: I came to this dental office in summer 2019. They took X-rays and did an exam for an hour (no cleaning). They suggested I come back for a deep cleaning, and I said I'd think about it. After further thought, I called back and said that I just wanted a regular cleaning. After some back and forth, they refused to schedule a regular cleaning since the dentist recommended a deep cleaning. I emphasized that I was the patient and that this was my choice. But alas, they wouldn't proceed. It's just as well because when I went to another dentist 9 months later, I found out I had 4 cracked teeth and no need for deep cleaning. I relay this story not to hear back from this office but as a cautionary tale for others looking for a dentist to call home. This ain't it. read more

Just an odd experience all around. I have no complaints about the actual dental work, I had a cleaning and later a crown replacement, but things started to feel weird when the dental assistant gave me a sales pitch while I was on my back with their fingers in my mouth. WE SELL WATER PICKS, YOU KNOW, she informed me, friendly-like, nodding toward the display in the exam area. THEY RETAIL FOR (X) BUT WE SELL THEM FOR (Y). Friendly as she was about it, this is still a horribly unprofessional way to run your business, and I politely declined, once I was able to speak again. I got a sales pitch every time I was in there, always in the middle of whatever work was being done. They seemed to schedule a lot of follow-ups, more than my last dentist, & they wanted three alone for the crown replacement. On the final one I arrived at my appointed time on a Sunday and found the door locked (this was well before the pandemic). I verified I was there during regular business hours on the door (why wouldn't I be, it was an appointment after all). I called the office from outside the door and left a voicemail, which to this day has never been returned, as a result of which I have never been back, nor scheduled another appointment. I legit thought they went out of business until I saw this Yelp page still active today and figured I'd pass this along. Maximum weirdness. read more

My favorite dental clinic in Seattle! I usually come here for general cleanings, but when my gums were starting to get inflamed due to some wisdom teeth issues, they offered their wisdom teeth services to me. Yes, I had put off getting my wisdom teeth for years because I was bemoaning any significant teeth surgery, but it had to be done. Flash forward to my surgery. They expertly had me on laughing gas and the surgery went incredibly well. I was able to walk around (with the help of my boyfriend) five minutes after surgery to get my antibiotics and painkillers - the latter which I didn't even end of using. I can't recommend Gentle Dental enough. They really take care of you :) read more

Several years back I had to have my 2 front teeth repaired. The dentist veneered them and it turned out to be a disaster. I went to another dentist and he put crowns on them. They would constantly fall off and they never felt nor looked right. I heard several good things about gentle dental and decided to try them. The entire staff is great. They are courteous, professional and pleasent to interact with . Dr Fletcher re did my front crowns. He took the time to make sure they were perfect and I was 100 percent happy with them. He is bright , intelligent and a perfectionist. After 15 years of struggling , I'm finally happy with my teeth. I can't say enough great things. New patient, cleaning appointment. The issue is they had no plan to actually clean my teeth. What they kept from telling me (until halfway through my appointment and me asking them) is that this was one of two appointments, the first being an x-ray and 'comprehensive dr. exam'. I find this misleading. Bait and switch - My only guess is that they're billing 2 appointments for what should be only one. No customer would willingly go to a 2-part cleaning, makes zero sense. If they were short staffed and couldn't clean my teeth, they should've called to let me know in advance, or at minimum, clearly explain their practice of 2 appointments, which would have allowed me to make the right decision. On a side note, nice, professional staff. I do not recommend them, unless you like your time being wasted. read more

Haha, this place has an average 4 star rating on Yelp. No wonder people say they can't trust Yelp. My experience with Gentle Dental has ruined chain dental offices for me forever. Let me tell you about the issues I have with them. First visit for a cleaning, the dental hygienist left the polishing to the assistant. The assistant did not show up and I was left waiting in the chair for 10 minutes until I walked out. Then the dentist made some excuse about how the assistant was not feeling well. Second visit was for a filling. It felt like a rush job. I have no faith that this filling will last. The dentist is not experienced enough. Third visit for a cleaning. This was the last straw. A temp dental hygienist did my cleaning. She was the worst. She made my gums bleed and she blamed it on the health of my gums. How come Woodside Dental didn't make my gums bleed? Then the dentist comes in for his shotgun 2 minute exam. I had some questions for him about mouth guards and this new cavity he found on X-ray but he didn't take the time to answer them or debate the pros and cons with me. He just told me that I needed a filling and to have his assistant do a mold for the mouth guard. Seriously? Talk about not listening to your patient's needs. This is not a dentist who loves the profession and cares about the health of my teeth. I will never go to another Gentle Dental again. I happily went to Woodside Dental and I've never looked back. read more

As I was a bit disappointed with my previous dentist.... An associate referred me to Gentle Dental to see Dr. Fletcher. I knew I needed some procedures done soon.... so I had my records sent over from my prior dentist and made an appointment with Dr. Fletcher. The office is conveniently located on Broadway in Capitol Hill. It's near a lot of other businesses making it easy to get an errand done before or after your appointment! Not too sure about parking as I walked from my nearby condo. Upon arrival for my appointment, I noted that the office was clean, tidy, and comfortable. I was greeted by the receptionist Daniel. He was friendly and gave me the standard forms to fill out. I completed those and a dental tech quickly appeared to take me back to the exam room. After a few preliminary questions with the tech, I met Dr. Fletcher who completed my exam. Dr. Fletcher is not only professional and friendly... but a bit handsome lol! But honestly, he takes real care to ensure all of your questions are being addressed, that you understand the treatment options, and that you're as comfortable as possible. After the exam, the doctor outlined the best treatment plan for the work I needed done and we set the plan into motion. It was perfect that the hygienist, Jeff, was able to complete one of the procedures immediately following my exam with the doctor. The hygienist was also very detailed by ensuring I understood all of the work taking place and making sure I was comfortable. I liked that the hygienist said we could stop at any time if I needed to get more comfortable or felt any pain. Very caring! After the procedure was done, the hygienist ran over the post-visit instructions and walked me back out to Daniel to complete the payment/insurance and to schedule additional procedures the doctor outlined for me. We all know the old adage... "I hate the dentist!" But I found myself actually having a pleasant experience and felt better about my dental health leaving my visit. I look forward to getting the rest of my treatment plan completed in the near future with Dr. Fletcher's and his friendly/professional team! read more

Avoid at all costs if possible. Unfortunately I was a patient of theirs for several treatments due to low cost - which is how they get you. The customer service has been abysmal at best and their treatment has left one of my teeth in worse condition because I was told to "ignore" a cavity at the time. Because they were so sure I would be back instead of taking care of it when it was a) included in my estimate and b) I paid for it! They should have treated my tooth instead of giving me a credit! One of the hygienists was not conscious of my natural hair and pulled it when she undid the X-ray apron. I left as soon as the string of procedures I prepaid for, were completed. I ONLY came back because I'm having an emergency and they canceled my appointment because I have allergies! I admitted that I have had a runny nose and NO other COVID symptoms and they still denied me. I'm vaxxed and boosted but that isn't a question on their form. Now I've had to find an emergency dentist, rearrange my work day, and I am still in a considerable amount of pain! The Manager at the front desk did nothing to mitigate the situation and instead just asked for the chance to make it right. He could have, had he let me get my teeth looked at. They are penny pinchers. I specifically asked them if I could be charged anything for a cleaning, and they said no because my insurance would pay for it all. I come out and next thing I know, I owe them $45 dollars. I asked for what and they said for an antibiotic rinse. I opted out of that immediately the next time I went in. They also don't accommodate you. I was 10 minutes late and they charged me a fee and didn't even see me. I had my last and final cleaning with them there and again they said everything would be covered by my insurance, but later I was billed an extra $50. DO NOT come here. They are NOT straight forward with you. Don't let Danny's sweet talk fool you. read more

I had a terrible experience with Dr Andrew Mueller at the Gentle Dental office at 535 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102. He was dismissive, had a poor bedside manner, and didn't care about the serious dental trauma I've suffered, which was specifically noted on the intake form. I absolutely did not have a "gentle" experience and I do not feel safe to return. I emailed a few times with the receptionist at this office, Danny, who was very kind. Danny added Dr Mueller to the email thread, but Dr Mueller never replied back in over a month. I will not be returning to this office. This doctor is not acting in a reputable way. read more
