    Cheese Curds

I stopped by Queen Bee's on a Tuesday night when near Paynesville at a cabin. Its easy to find and has a quiet atmosphere with sitting areas that are far away from the bar. However, this place still has a great vibe, and it delivers for what you'd expect of a small town restaurant. Food My Order: Penalty Burger (Bacon, Onion ring, Pickles, American cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Thousand Island Dressing) with fries, Cheese Curds for an appetizer Cons - The burgers were the only thing that we didn't like about the experience. They were small and underwhelming, barely covering the bottom bun. That said, they tasted pretty good. Pros - Now onto the good stuff, and there was plenty of it. The fries here are crAzY tasty!!! Just perfectly crispy on the exterior, you gotta try them. The bacon on my burger was excellently cooked, and the other toppings were all good. The buns were especially fresh and soft, and if you get a burger you will notice the difference! Finally, the onions ring was fried well and not overly greasy. Overall, the burger was good, and all the fixings worked together well for the final flavor. The cheese curds were superb. Though I can't say I have had a bad chunk of fried cheese in my life (can you mess that up?), these were just a small step below state-fair-caliber curds. Worth a shot for sure. Service: Our waitress was a young lady and was SWAMPED with customers. Nevertheless, she kept the drinks coming and was super kind to my buddies and I, replying with "Absolutely!" or "You got it!" to almost all of our requests. Positive and happy to serve us, I hope that she knows how appreciative we were and are! Overall, the Queen Bee is a nice place to stop in for a meal after a fun day at the cabin. While the burgers didn't exactly impress, the service made up for it, and I would certainly return to try something new here!

Simply the worst. Bad service. Terrible food. Avoid if you are hungry. Highly over-rated..

Nice bar and grill. Nothing really special but I'd go back and have no problem taking my friends or family there.

Bottom Line: A wonderful alternative addition to the usual…read more"meat, potatoes, & gravy" dining found in Litchfield. Menu is imaginative, if rather limited, and very well executed. On our visit, staff was in top form & delightful. Top Line: I hit up the Half Bushel Brewing crew for lunch with a friend one day. Interior is a delightful mix of rustic and traditional decor left from The Glory Days of this building. Seating was comfortable enough and music was low enough not to inhibit conversation. I had a glass of their American Stout. It was roasty toasty on the flavor front so appropriately flavored. The body however was really super light for a stout. It lacked the creamy mouth feel that I look for in stouts. There were also some bitter'ish notes in the flavor profile that rang more toward the IPA side of life, and away from the chocolate & coffee notes commonly found. So the beer was about a three-star affair. If they have their coffee stout on hand next time I stop in, I'll certainly be giving that a try. Our barkeep Stephanie on the other hand was a 10 star, gold standard, bright, energetic, enthusiastic, sparkling personality who lit up the whole place!! An absolutely delightful addition to our dawdling lunch. I had chicken pesto panini sandwich. Taste was diverse & complex. Crunchy outer texture of toasted bread contrasted nicely with sumptuous fillings. Easy candidate for repeat ordering. I sampled the naan & pesto that was beautifully presented. Naan was chewy soft pillowy bites. Pesto had the basil-garlic dance going on, so it was delightful too. If you're in the Litchfield area, stop in and spend some pleasant time with the Half Bushel Brewing crew.
