We ordered a whole range of things including chicken kebab, chicken gyro, tahini cauliflower,…read morelabneh, and hummus. Everything was delicious, but I'll leave the food writing to the Yelpers with more sophisticated palates than I. (Actually, I take that back--the fresh-baked pita was amazing and I would eat it with/for every meal if I could.) The real reason I wanted to leave a review the service, which went above and beyond. Let me start by saying that Al Basha takeout has a wonderfully efficient order-number-based system for managing the hundreds of orders they get on a daily basis. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The top priority of the manager with whom I dealt was making sure that my wife--it was Mothers' Day--got the best meal possible, and made sure to send me home with fresh bread and a treat for the moms. It was true hospitality, and greatly appreciated. TLDR version: great food, excellent service, out-of-this-world pita, and make darned sure you have the right order number.

Disappointed w the mix mashawi, considering it's their signature char grilled meats. It comes with…read morefilet mignon, chicken kebab, kofta kebab, and shawarma. The chicken kebab was dry and the shawarma was a bit too sour for my liking (not sure if they squeezed lemon on it or something). The kofta was okay but nothing spectacular. The filet mignon, was a major let down. My server didn't ask how we'd like it cooked, which is medium rare for my family. It came back well done. He said everyone usually prefers it to be well done, but I think that's a mistake that shouldn't be made and preference should always be asked, especially with steak. We asked for it to be swapped, and it still came back well done. When we let them know again, they brought it back a little on the rare side, which is fine for my family, but had it been another family, not so sure. I'm sure they have hundreds of orders for the char grilled meets, so I'm a little confused on why the technique has not already been established My favorite dish had to be the makanik - which is pan seared lamb sausages finished with sweet and tangy pomegranate molasses. I usually don't like lamb because of the gamey flavor but these sausages didn't have that. I didn't taste much of the pomegranate molasses. The arugula & beet salad would've been good if the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette was less sweet. The stuffed grape leaves were also a bit too sour. The lemon was just taking over the entire flavor profile. I didn't really taste the tomato or parsley. The falafel platter was good but nothing different than other falafels that I've had. The mint lemonade was so refreshing. Almost everyone in the restaurant had one and I understand why. The mint is not overpowering I had high expectations because I've seen this place on instagram but I'm afraid they were not met. Service was good, but the food definitely needs some work. There's valet parking, which i recommend because it's hard to find street parking

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ The food and, more specifically, seafood was AMAZINGLY fresh and delicious!!! ++++ Grilled Octopus appetizer with lemon garlic butter was to die for. Octopus was soooooooo tender and the restaurant's signature lemon garlic butter was a perfect compliment to it. ++++ Surf and Turf was, once again, PERFFFFFECT. Order came with a (hugeeee) 12 oz. ribeye and 10 oz. lobster tail. Both were as good as it gets anywhere. ++++ Branzino with rice and fries was excellent! The branzino was extremely bony, as you would expect, but the fish meat was sooooooo good. Rice was very flavorful and the fries were some of the crispiest I've EVER had. ++++ Mint Lemonade was absolutely refreshing. One of the best refresher drinks we've ever had anywhere. + Spacious and bright interior. Bright blue and white walls and floors make you feel like you're actually in the Mediterranean. + Parking lot is right outside of the restaurant and there are 8 spots in total, but it's on a steep slope that leads up to the restaurant entrance. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - The waiter was very, verrrry nice, but, for some odd reason, the side of rice for the Branzino came out 30 minutes after the Branzino arrived on the table!!!! This is not an exaggeration. The waiter kept promising it was coming out soon, but it just took longer and longer and longer to arrive till I was already done with my entree. - The restaurant automatically added a service charge of 15% for just the 2 of us. Typically, you see this for large parties, NOT for parties of 2. With that said, we were a bit surprised it was only 15% though considering 18% seems like the minimum these days. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Dined here on an early Monday afternoon from 12:15 - 1:45 and only when we were leaving did another party finnnnaaaalllly come in. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves until then. CONCLUSION -------------------- = Bottom line, the food is spectacular here. I don't use that word lightly. Our meal here was as good as we've had in a longgg time.

The smiling pretty face young lady Riham said we are welcome to come in and she would feed us. We were 7 adults. Every one picked their choice and all the food turned delicious. The appetizers were superb. The falafel, the kabab, the chicken, the Ouzi were done to perfection. Riham was courteous and kept the place open for us way beyond their closure time. Looking forward to returning soon.

They were very soft and good but could be better in terms of flavor. The chicken tikka was too salty. The bread is delicious and fresh. The fries were delicious and comes with a interesting turmeric/mustard type sauce. The pickled vegetables are an acquired taste; very salty. The quzi is lamb shank with rice and comes with either bean or okra soup. I liked the okra soup better since it had some acidity from the tomatoes. The lamb shank was very tender but I wish it came with some sauce or lemon. The rice is a bit sweet due to the rasins. The prices are a bit high but there are not many Iraqi restaurants in the region.

Shortly after entering this establishment, I realized I had dinner in this building before, but the last time was several years ago (was Naples Pizza & Pasta back then, in 2018). Everything had changed, decor was simple and rustic now. Anyway, we ordered lunch. Conversation between us was strained because the music was a bit loud (albeit, it was a decent genre, 70's & 80's Rock). It took a while for the meals to arrive to our table, even though only one other table was occupied at that time in the restaurant. Our waiter was a bit inattentive also (or maybe inexperienced ?). I had to get up to ask him for some plates for our mozzarella stick appetizer, some ice in my wife's Iced Tea, a bottle of ketchup for my Mother In Law's French fries, and the coleslaw that was suppose to come with my Mother In Law's meal. Food was alright though, not great, but not horrible either. I don't agree with the 4 & 5 Star reviews for this place though, maybe breakfast is better, but that certainly wasn't what I experienced yesterday during our lunch. I imagine I still might be back someday, because it's close to where my Mother In Law lives and there really isn't a lot of choices nearby. A weak 3 Star Rating for now, I'll write an updated review when we return for breakfast sometime.

And as a bonus, it has not yet been "discovered" by the Yelp Elite / food influencer crowd (besides yours truly). The Alexandrian Style Shrimp was huge and delicious, but the Grilled Branzino (and really, any whole grilled fish) is the big, belting diva of the menu and one you should not miss. Whole, ground spices are packed into every bite care of lovely marinade, and your teeth will rejoice at how tender the meat is. Entrees all come with generous, complimentary portions of salad, tahini and pita, as well as lots of fluffy rice, so you can't walk away hungry. The prices are on the higher side, sadly--it seems nowhere is immune to inflation these days--but at least you'll get a ton of bang for your buck.

The space is small, about 8 tables, with dated, seventies decor, complete with plastic on the tables. Only one woman in the kitchen. We had the grilled Orata, which came with rice, salad, babaganoush and tahini sauce, side of eggplants with peppers in tomato sauce and the Alexandria style shrimp. Everything was fresh, the fish grilled to perfection and the shrimp well-seasoned. There is also a sandwich menu, but it was not available that day. This place as all of the elements I love in small businesses; no pretention, no gimmicks and no "fusion"...just authentic, simple, home made food, from kitchen straight to my stomach with no orchestra and fireworks. My only gripe is that the prices are high but given that food costs have risen so quickly in the last few years, I completely understand.

We talked to the owner and he told us that he designed and built the restaurant himself -- that's awesome! We came around 8:45pm, and there were maybe 2-3 other tables sat as well. The owner came to tell us the menu (I don't think there is a physical menu to read off of). We ended up getting the hummus, cauliflower, lamb shank, a beef-stew like dish, and a fish. I really enjoyed all the menu items we got, and found it to be very aromatic and flavorful. A few things to note: -this restaurant is cash only, so make sure to come with some cash on-hand -water/drinks aren't provided, but there is a refrigerator at the front from which you can buy a drink from -the wait is quite long (we didn't leave until around 11pm) I would recommend trying this place if you aren't in a rush. It's an interesting experience and good food!
