Visited with a large party on a weekday. The restaurant it self has Persian art covering the walls, the cutlery and glassware was also unique. Onto to the food, Kashko Bademjan, I was not expecting the strong taste of goat cheese in this dip which was the prominent flavour. It came paired with bread, Hummus, was good Starting with the kabobs, Torsh Joojeh Kebab this was the chicken breast, the chicken it's self was flavourful but the overall dish was dry. Wow, blown away by the level of expertise in this outstanding Iranian (Persian) restaurant. An attractively decorated space with very nice table settings and music (subtle instrumental), cool art on the walls, and good looking wait staff. Started with cold mezze plate that had hummus, yoghurt dip with shallots and walnuts, and a chopped cucumber/tomato/red onion salad served in a pretty copper platter with seeded bread. Husband had lamb shank on herbed rice with a side dish of au jus. I had chicken on jeweled rice containing carrots, raisins, almonds, citrus, cardamom. Both dishes had a tasty rice cake that looked like corn bread. It's hard to describe just how delicious and beautiful this was. The servings are huge. Really enough to share. So I went to highschool in richmondhill so I really know and understand Persian cuisine lol. This food was amazing I can't hype it up enough, the ghormeh sabzi was ridiculously good !! Also the service from both servers was exceptional. The food is really good, tasty, and decently portioned, but service is very slow. The servers are not at fault though - they seem to be short staffed and the restaurant is always busy. Service is still pretty good overall. Some of the items that we wanted to order were not available, so we ended up ordering other items on the menu, which still turned out to be delicious and satisfying. The long-grain rice that comes with every main dish has the perfect texture that goes well with the stews. Dishes that we tried: 1) Shirazi Salad (cucumber, tomatoes, onion), dressed in lime and mint - Light, simple, and refreshing. Very small portion, but it's meant to be more of a side dish. 2) Fesenjan (Pomegranate, Pumpkin, and Walnuts Stew) with Mushrooms - Great vegetarian / vegan option. Very delicious with a strong flavour, perfect on rice. We usually set our gps from Michigan to this restaurant and intentionally plan any Toronto trips around being here at or after 5pm and not on Sundays so we can go here. This is not an exaggeration or lie. It is the best. The food is amazing every time we go here. If you're vegetarian or vegan, the ghalieh kadoo is phenomenal and you have to get the zeytoon parvadeh. I love the sekanjebin. The restaurant is beautiful and the servers are wonderful! The presentation is gorgeous and every time we go there, I ask myself if it is really as good as I remember it or I'm exaggerating. It is in fact always excellent. Go here early and often. read more

We went to this place about one month ago. Here is what I still remember: the ambiance was cool. We brought our American guests with us and didn't regret it. They loved the place. The owners are two Iranian ladies. They know their job. The service was fast and friendly. No complaints. The food was also delicious. As a person born and raised in Iran, I would say that it was very similar to what you would experience in a good restaurant or family dinner in Iran. Our experience at Queen of Persia started promising. The atmosphere was elegant but also cozy. The service was prompt, and the food, which came quickly, was delicious and evocative of home cooking. We ordered the Fesenjan (pomegranate chicken walnut stew) and the Baghali Polo Mahicheh (lamb shank with fava beans and dill). Both were excellent. At this point, we were having a 4-5 star experience. This is when things turned weird. Soon after they took away our dinner plates, we were presented with the cheque and the credit card machine. The waiter explained that they had a reservation, and that the couple had arrived. We were a little discombobulated, and I paid as he handed me the credit card machine, but we had planned to order tea and maybe dessert. We had barely been there an hour. More strange was that an empty table next to us was moved next to a table of two men, just so they could put their dinner plates on it. And then the couple that were waiting -- the couple who had the reservation we were being pushed out to accommodate -- was seated somewhere else. We decided to take a short walk then swing by again, just to see if anyone else was given our table. Turns out, no one was. We stood in the window looking at the table where we had been sitting, and no one had been seated there. So five stars for the food, 1 star for the service. read more

I loved everything about the restaurant! As I'm not familiar with Persian food I was a bit skeptical about the restaurant when my husband booked it for Summerlicious. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was so impressed with the decorations which felt very exotic. We had pomegranate salad and eggplant/tomato spread for appetizers, lamb stew and herb stew with kidney beans for main, baklava and ice in paradise for desserts. I've had Persian food only a few times so I'm not an expert in this food but my friend who I went with knows Persian food. She said it was good. We shared an appetizer olives and a main chicken with Persian pilaf. It has these berries in it that were so delicious. We had Persian tea with saffron sugar. The only down side is there is no lunch menu. But the price isn't that bad. Our meal was 18$ some $25. So not too bad really. I've seen burgers for $19 and this meal was far superior. I'd go back to try more dishes. The restaurant is beautiful with pillows in the booths and the decorative cloths on the table. So it's may 2019 and it wanted to go here and well I did! Still very enjoyable and there are many things on the menu I'd like to try. It's too bad they only open for lunch on Fridays and weekends but I'm glad I got to go and eat there again. We arrived after the supposed opening hour of 5pm to meet a friend. The door was locked. We knocked; no answer. Eventually (at around 5:20) a young woman (the server, it turns out) came from the street and opened the door, apologizing for being late. We sat at a table, and thus began one of the worst (not to mention expensive) meals I've had out. No one else entered the restaurant during the entire two hours we were there, so perhaps everyone else was in the know. Anyway, we ordered several appetizers, including hummus, an olive spread, and a salad, all supposed to come with nice bread. The bread was stale---certainly more than a day old. The hummus was runny (yuck). The olive spread was not a spread, but just large olives in the usual pomegranate-walnut sauce, which could not be properly placed on the bread. The salad was a bland mixture of unripe tomatoes and cucumbers. Meanwhile the server stayed hidden far away behind the bar scrolling her phone, never coming to check and see how things were; to get anything else we had to wave her down. Next the mains: two of us got the ground beef kabab (#1), the other a veal kabab. Everything arrived in ginormous plates, but the server didn't think to clear the appetizer plates, just shoved everything on the table. The beef kababs had a weird taste, and I was unable to eat more than a couple of bites. Nor did my friend want to take my kabab home. Getting up to leave to go to the restroom, there was an apron lying on the floor in front of the restroom and the lights were off, with no clear way to turn them on. I had to once again go to the server, who now along with another woman was just hanging out behind the bar phone-surfing, to get the lights in the bathroom on. And having finally gotten into the bathroom, it smelt like mould. For this amazingly horrible experience, we paid $250. If you are reading this, learn our lesson and go somewhere---anywhere---else. read more

This is a beautiful Persian restaurant where the food is made with love and care. Everything was exquisite, from the dishes, to the tapestry on the table, to the artwork adorning the walls. Service was very prompt and attentive as well. Everything was so rich and flavourful. You can tell that they make this food with the utmost attention. Amazing kabob. Food is very fresh, so juicy and flavorful. Highly Recommend the koobideh (bonab specifically). Also do half rice, half salad and get the pomegranate salad - it's so good. I would take 0.5 off not because of food but just small tweaks to improve. There should be bread to start or at least, lots of bread with the appetizers. We ordered mirza ghasemi and it came with one (1) piece of barbari cut in fours. That's a bit disappointing to see but hopefully an easy fix :) also would improve the takeout containers situation. A special birthday celebration brought us here. We were received with a warm welcome reminiscent of old friends (We were first time guests) ... the atmosphere was cozy, elegant and beautifully representative of Persian hospitality and kindness. We went in with high expectations, the pictures looked amazing, we prepared ourselves for a treat! The first thing that stood out to us were the prices, they were far more than other Persian restaurants, but we thought we may be in for something special, so we didn't get too worried. The decoration was very contemporary Persia, where old art meets new! So it was fun to look at, and the setting was nice. The service wasn't up to scratch. The servers wouldn't bother checking in on you, and in more than one instance where we had to flag them down, they wouldn't even stop to take our request, they would keep walking. As for the food, it was not the quality you'd expect. The Barg kabab was overcooked and dry. The koobideh lacked flavour. They didn't offer a substitute for not wanting rice, and when we asked for salad, they charged us for a full salad, which was awkward. We didn't complain about any of this, as it was clear, they didn't have an appetite for feedback. The appetizers were a bit better than the mains. In summary, we tried it, and know if we want Persian food, we're probably better off spending the extra 10-20 minutes and heading towards North York or Richmond Hill. They did have other clients, so perhaps they do cater to a specific audience, but that clearly isn't us. I hope you have a better experience than us. Oh, the one thing that got right was the presentation, the presentation was very nice, it makes for a very instagram friendly meal. read more

Everything was amazing about this place! It was a dinner date for Husband and me. We both enjoy Middle Eastern/Mediterranean/Persian food. We went for summerlicious 2019 and I would say it was worth every penny. Appetizer was interesting - never had it before, bread with whole olive mix/puree'. The Entre'e was just remarkable - Huge platter of steak or chicken or kebabs (whatever your protein is), with saffron rice with grilled tomatoes, jalapeno or other vegetables. Dessert was Persian fairy (pistachio custard with fairy floss). For those who are Indians - its basically Firni or Falooda, but that's what the dish is. The drink I ordered; Golestaneh, was phenomenal. Golestaneh in Hindi means a flower bed/garden, and I ordered that because it had rose petals in it, and it was just remarkable. So refreshing to see in Toronto. The owner / chef was making rounds and personally checking in with everyone. Food: Authentic, a festival of flavour, a riot of colours and worth every penny. I've been to a number of Persian restos in Toronto -- there are quite a few, particularly in the Yonge/Steeles neighbourhood -- and this one has to be the best. The food was fragrant, flavourful and tender. The rice was freshly cooked and fluffy. The kebabs -- koobideh (ground beef and lamb) and bolghari (tenderloin and chicken) -- were truly a standout. Seasoned so they had character and with flavours that were new to me but not overwhelming. Perfectly cooked. We also ordered a traditional Persian stew, Gheimeh, which opened my eyes to the possibilities of using french fries. Desserts were similarly well executed -- we ordered pomegranate and pistachio ice creams and a Persian specialty featuring a lime sorbet and rice noodles. The latter was interesting, though I probably wouldn't reorder. But on the whole this was a great culinary experience with most hospitable service! read more

I wanted to order faisan jun (not sure if I'm spelling that right). Are used to date a girl from Moran and her mother used to make it. Delicious. Hadn't had it it in 20 years or so. It was horrible what they served at that restaurant I couldn't believe it - completely flavourless bowl of dark slop. I ordered the chicken with pomegranate. It was pleasantly tart and delicious. The food quantity seems a little sparse when it first arrives at the table, but it does fill you up. A little bit oily, but the taste is quite unique and authentic. Meat was very tender and well cooked. The sauce was sooo good. We also ordered the bread. Very nice and fresh. The pomegranate ice cream was divine and nothing like I've had before. Such a nice touch after the heavyish meal. The restaurant is a little tight but nice. Very clean which I appreciated. Toronto is famous for its variety of foods from different parts of the world, and Persian food is one good example. I have to say that I was at first not sure about this place, as it is relatively new and is not located in the heart of the Persian community. Queen of Persia went beyond my expectations. Not only everything we ate tasted great (and authentic), but also the decor, the copperware, the attention to details made it a true original experience. The kashk bademjoon, zaytoon parvardeh and mirza ghasemi were exquisite, and so were the ghormeh sabzi, kabob torsh, joojeh and vaziri (everything we had!). The owner is very friendly and nice and loves her work.
