Best kebabs in the city in my opinion. Love everything I've tried here, especially the chicken kebabs. Every meat always tastes so juicy and somehow better with each bite, and pairs perfectly with their saffron rice. After craving some homely and wholesome food, it was definitely the place to go to. We ordered the Kashk e Bademjaan which comes with a portion of bread, and the mixed Koobideh. One skewer of chicken and one skewer of beef aswell as a mountain of rice made sure that it was more than enough to fill my stomach and have leftovers too! The food itself is beautiful: flavoursome , warming and beautiful spiced giving you the essence of a home away from home. This is one of our usual spots! We've eaten just outside the resto, picked it up and brought it home, and have had it delivered! Overall, the meats are well seasoned and extremely flavourful. I love the rice and the grilled tomatoes and peppers (if they have). Our go-to is the platter with chicken and ground beef (joheh and koobideh). On occasion, the tenderloin hasn't been so tender but the chicken was usually moist. Go figure. I would've given them 5 stars if it wasn't for lack of consistency. Like the aforementioned tenderness of meats. Sometimes when I order the sides, they may or may not have the ingredients listed. Like one time, I was expecting walnuts. Nada. As I mentioned above, the platter should come with at least a couple of tomatoes and peppers but there have been times when something was missing. It was kind of ok. It's a real hole-in-the-wall place, so it's basically takeout only, which is fine. The food was fine, but not very exciting. Taste was somewhat bland. Overall the main issue was that they seem really checked out: the signage points to the door to say "order here" as if to imply it's just an order at the window deal, so I did that and then realized there's a small counter where you order inside. The staff seemed somewhat aloof. I'm not at all unfamiliar with businesses like this and I seek them out deliberately, but I was expecting more focus from them. The presentation could also be improved. They made me a wrap and offered hot sauce, but it was just a small packet of Louisiana hot sauce. That's fine, but it's from a completely different kind of cuisine, and so it took something away from the distinctness of what they're offering. But it's also just basic things: they put my wrap in a nice little box and gave me a huge paper bag for takeout. That's good, except they didn't include any napkins and the place is so small that you barely even want to ask them a question for anything extra less they get distracted or something. I open the box and find that there were napkins but they are under the wrap. So then I am supposed to enjoy a wrap that's sitting on top of some napkins soaked in sauce and juice from the meat? My guess is it's just the location right on the lake downtown that has some issue. Too many others seem to love this place, so I must be missing something. read more

We had two elementary school aged kids and two adults and for 4 kebabs and rice plus mast (yogurt sauce) and bread (3). First off, so affordable. Second it was more than enough. There are many Persian restaurants in Toronto, but unfortunately very few in the downtown core. Shatter Abbas unfortunately isn't a great option - it does have all the Persian favourites - kebabs and stews; but the quality is mediocre and the prices are relatively high. It's a takeout only place - and in that case you are better off ordering delivery from the many other options in the city. read more

A hankering for late night eats in the neighbourhood brought us here. It was 9:50 pm when we stepped into the little shop. The staff let us know that they were closing soon and only had a few items left. We ordered, paid, got a pager and went outside to wait at a table. I'd never been before so I was astonished by the size of what we ordered. It's a good thing my friend and I had decided to share one meal. I think you could feed a small family with the size of the dish! I don't like olives but I was told the olives that came with the meal were delicious. There a little packet of butter that you can put over your rice for a more flavourful meal. The meat was so good that that after trying one piece someone else in our group asked for more. The flavours in the meat were amazing. I'm not sure if there was some MSG since I was a bit thirsty afterward. read more

The Ghormeh Sabzi is served with very little meat; this is interesting to say the least. The taste is spot on however. I also got the Sultani, it tasted right, but was far from perfection. Great takeout place! The chicken thighs are so juicy and flavorful. The standard order comes with a roasted tomatoe. But as an avid tomats lover, my go-to order calls for two extra tomats. They also give you rice enough to feed a village. The salad is always fresh with the thousand island dressing. Pretty lit. Standard wait time is between 15-30 minutes because they grill to order. The food is so aromatic. Sometimes I come home and the condo elevator smells like it as a fellow neighbor had it for dinner. Triggers an instant craving. 10/10 recommend. I have gotten food from this restaurant multiple times. All of their kabobs come with flavorful seasonings and a hearty serving of rice. Even some saffron rice is included! The roast vegetables that are served with the kabobs are also pretty tasty. In my opinion, you get quite a lot of food for the price. The interior of the restaurant is rather small and really only serves to order and pickup food, but there are tables set up outside where you can dine on the patio in the usually lively harbourfront neighborhood. This restaurant serves as an interesting ethnic food option that offers reasonable value for your money. read more

I visited this place on a weekday for my lunch as it was near to the place I was visiting for a business trip. The place doesn't have seating and is good for takeout only. They serve Persian cuisine and for vegetarians they have two items on their menu. The staff is friendly and courteous. I tried their Kashke Bademjan which is generally served with Pita bread. I got Saffron Rice as an add on. The portion size was huge. I could not finish it all at a time. The dish is made of eggplant and mixed with special persian sauce called Kashk, sauteed onion, garlic and mint. I loved the dish. Overall experience was quite good. read more

Discovered this gem on Uber Eats during the Covid pandemic. As a Persian myself, I am extremely picky with the quality of food from Persian restaurants and how authentic they taste. Shatter Abbas did not disappoint. First of all, NOTHING beats the flavour of meat grilled on charcoal. You cannot get that flavour from any other type of bbq, and that makes Persian kabobs different - this subtle smokeyness that blends in perfectly with the meaty flavour of the beef. Shatter Abbas did a great job with their grill, as you could taste the charcoal-ey flavour without it being too overpowering. Secondly, the portions are H.U.G.E! Two skewers of koobideh with rice and two extra tomatoes were enough to fully fill up two people. This is the case with all authentic Persian restaurants/takeouts. If you are not surprised by the size of the delivery bag when you receive it from your ubereats delivery guy, it's not authentic enough. Lastly, despite the big portion sizes, the quality was excellent! The rice was amazing, the beef was juicy and cooked to perfection, the tomatoes were delicious. I highly recommend getting extra grilled tomatoes; they're just... SO good! Don't forget to sprinkle a generous portion of the complimentary Sumac on your kabob before eating it. And the butter (which is slightly melted in the package because of it being on the hot rice) is to be drizzled on the rice (yes, it's worth the extra calories). The one thing I have not liked so far, as it was not really authentic, was the minced chicken kabob (chicken koobideh on their menu). I have never had it minced before. It's supposed to be chunks of grilled chicken thigh or breast marinated in saffron. It was also a little too salty to my taste, so I would not recommend getting the minced chicken kabob. Tucked away in a little corner of the waterfront community of Queen's Quay, this Iranian grill is as fresh as it comes. I've walked by this location hundreds of times as I used to work around the corner from this building and never once knew this was here. We just happened to be walking to pick up an online order from a business nearby and my wife saw the sign for fresh Persian grill. There is no seating inside and that was apparently the case even before Covid so this was not a big adjustment for them. They only let in one customer at a time and the interaction is completely touchless. You go in, order and tap to pay and they make you wait outside till your order is complete. We got the Beef Koobideh combo, which was made fresh to order and the juices were just flowing out of the meat. The order came with two large skewers and it was more than enough for a really hungry adult. The combo also came with char-grilled tomatoes and rice. Persian cuisine does not mess around! read more

This is a claustrophobic take out booth. The chairs and tables piled outside would deceive you into thinking you could sit down. The meat skewers are all very nicely spiced and grilled to perfection and the portions are generous. It was served on seasoned rice and with a grilled tomato. The employee was very helpful and friendly when I asked for recommendations as a first-timer eating here. A detailed review of my food follows: Koobideh The beef exhibited a masterful blend of spices, and bursted with exciting flavours and mouth-watering aromas. It was also cooked perfectly tender and immensely satisfying. The rice was perfectly seasoned and delightfully tasty - not something typically seen accomplished even by the most skilled chefs. This shop has their rice technique perfected. And the sweetness of the grilled tomato was a perfect complement to the umami of the beef and savoury rice, cutting through the heaviness on the palate with the most refreshing acidity. Overall this dish may appear simple, but it demonstrates cohesion and harmony beyond that of many restaurants two or three times its price point. We were visiting from Miami and visited this place during our stay in Toronto. It was a wonderful spot to get one of the best Persian food cooked with love. The portions are huge, the meat and chicken cooked perfectly and very juicy and the owners and staff of the resturant are wonderful, friendly and super helpful! Delicious! I love Persian food and this ranks up there with the best. I came across the Sheppard Avenue location while out for a walk and I noticed that it seemed to be quite popular. Curious, I decided to place an order to see why. I ordered the Fesenjan and the mixed Koobideh. I wasn't expecting family-sized servings so I ended up with way too much food for two people, but I'm glad I did. I'm looking foward to the leftovers. spoiled meat. enough said? nope cuz yelp has a minimum. ok well we ordered from uber eats and the tenderloin barg kabab had a bit of a weird smell, kinda like fart. figured it's probably fine, it didn't smell spoiled. a few bites in, it clearly tasted like meat that had been left out for too long, spoiled, and then was cooked. my guess is it's probably an innocent mistake. regardless, never eating here again. and holy smokes it's expensive too! plenty of better kebab places in the city. read more
