During my…read morevisit, we discussed sclerotherapy, and I was convinced to purchase a 3-treatment package after being assured it was safe, effective, and free of complications. The first session went smoothly and I had no issues. After the second treatment, however, I started to notice small red broken capillaries appearing. During my follow-up, I was told that everything looked "normal," and no concern or explanation was raised about these new veins. After the third session, which involved many injections, I was shocked to see a major outbreak of red broken capillaries across my legs. They looked significantly worse than before any treatment. I later learned on my own that this was matting -- something that was never mentioned or explained to me by Dr. Chung. When I brought it up at a follow-up visit, it was only then acknowledged. The before-and-after photos clearly showed how much worse my legs looked after sclerotherapy. Over the last three years, I've had multiple laser treatments and visits with vascular specialists trying to improve the matting, with little success. My legs still look damaged, and I no longer feel comfortable exposing them. I deeply regret proceeding with sclerotherapy that wasn't done under ultrasound guidance and with someone who didn't have extensive experience treating complications like matting. While I was given a partial refund, I continue to live with the long-term effects of this poor outcome. I hope others do their research carefully before committing to this type of treatment.

There is ample parking at the location but is shared with the medi-spa and physical therapy businesses in the building so make sure to not park in reserved spots for those businesses. Mom came here for a consult on varicose veins and the staff were all very welcoming and nice. However, there was a mix up regarding my mother's' consult. She had called in advance to schedule her consult however when we arrived they could not find her appointment and the doctor was not in the office so we had to come back. For her second scheduled consult, I called to confirm and everything went smoothly. As a result , I would recommend calling a day before just to confirm just in case. When it was time for her procedure appointment, the staff gave us a reminder call which was appreciated. On the day of the procedure, they did a second ultra sound check before beginning and procedure took around 45 mins. After care procedures were carefully explained. The center can also arrange for translators translators if a family member/ translator is unable to accompany the patient which I think is a great plus. Covid precaution wise the business could add a bit more precautions. Temperatures were checked prior to being let in, staff were wearing masks and number of patients allowed in at a time however that is about the extent of the precautions. No social distancing or must wear mask signs were in the waiting area. There was however a sign inside staffing area. Seats in the waiting area were not marked to enforce social distancing. Other than performing procedures, staffs do not wear gloves.

She was assessing me for varicose veins! I didn't think I had "diseased veins" because they weren't bulging out of my calves. However, using an ultrasound machine, the width of the veins can be measured. If the veins are too wide, the valves are unable to pump the blood back up to the heart from the lower extremities. I went to Nurse Joan's office in Waipahu. She works with Doctor Danelo Canete at the Hawaii Vein Center. It's a clean, tidy clinic with free parking in the front. I like the cute decor in the waiting area and the convenient water dispenser...Haha! The ultrasound technician was very professional and knowledgeable. He told me that the veins in question are superficial and other veins can be used in the future if needed for heart bypass. So, if we close off the diseased veins, other veins can take over...no problem. Hmmm...I'm still thinking about this procedure. If I do it now, I can prevent bulging veins, have less cramping, and feel more energetic. I didn't realize that my legs were tired due to varicose veins. I thought I was just walking and standing too much! LOL! I'll be back for further assessment!

Next a medical student Ms.Nguyen entered and asked if she could question and examine me. Okay. The walls are pretty thin. I could hear muffled conversations close by. I could tell there would be a little wait time. The student left the room and after a while entered with two more ladies. Don't have a clue who the 3 rd person was. Very attractively stunning Tomao, PA introduced herself, examined both of my legs and shared her findings with the other two. She recommended compression socks from the morning but remove when I come home. I'm figuring since I'm retired does that mean I don't need to? Also elevating legs was mentioned. Next she told me she was going to schedule an ultrasound. Fears allayed...I thought I was going to have needles stuck into me today. I told her I might have to report for jury duty and she wrote me an excuse note to show them. Wow! I went back out and a lady with gorgeous highlighted hair scheduled me saying, see you Friday and also scheduled a phone appointment for the following week to have Tamao give me the findings. I was in there about an hour. Hubs waited for me. I told him too bad Ice Garden next door doesn't open til noon. Guess I must have been really scared cuz I didn't take even a single photo to share with this review.

Will not recommend to any one ! We are Very disappointed in the over all care my husband received…read moreafter having his right leg done, upper and lower veins. He ONLY saw the MD for the procedure. He was told after he would only see the PA thereafter for all follows up. The PA Could NOT adequately answer his questions. He tried to get an appointment with the MD and was told no. Big RED flag. How is it that after Many US the doctor and PA did not see how large the vein is ? They still proceeded to treat with ablation, which did not work, could not work due to size of the saphenous. Only to state another procedure is needed, charge even more money for that and then not address the post op pain concerns. He even asked to be scheduled with the MD who did the venous ablation and did the procedure where "glue" was placed because the vein "was still too large". He has a large raise "corded" vein now and can not lay leg flat with out tenderness. Yet the PA could not tell him if it would ever get better. The office people do not answer the phone, you have to leave a message only. They send repeat emails asking you to fill paperwork out, even when you have done it, every time you are scheduled. Again will not recommend this practice to anyone!
