The office itself is clean, bright, comfortably air-conditioned, and refreshingly simple. The first time I visited, the waiting room was packed. There were barely any seats available, and appointments were running a little behind. Clearly, everyone in Honolulu had decided that particular day was the perfect time to check whether their cardiovascular system was still honoring the terms of its contract. While I was waiting, a gentleman came out and offered me something to drink. Coffee? Absolutely. Then he revealed it was decaf, which is technically coffee in the same way that sparkling water is technically excitement. I went with water. What I did not realize at the time was that he was apparently one of the owners. As I was leaving, he personally came over, apologized for the delay, and thanked me for being patient. I honestly had to check whether I was still in a doctor's office. Someone acknowledging a long wait without being chased down first? In this economy? Then there is Dr. Giselle Baquero, who was fantastic. She was friendly, funny, attentive, and genuinely interested in understanding my situation. She took the time to explain things clearly, made thoughtful recommendations, and arranged all the necessary follow-ups without making the appointment feel rushed or mechanical. I returned several more times for different tests and follow-up appointments, and every person I encountered was exceptionally kind and professional. The consistency was almost suspicious. Usually, every office has at least one employee who behaves as though your arrival has personally ruined their week. Not here. At one appointment, I complimented a staff member's eyeglass frames and asked where he bought them. He actually added the information to my notes so I would not forget. Not medical information. Eyeglass information. That is a level of customer service I was not emotionally prepared for. At this point, I am tempted to ask whether Maikaʻi Hearts can handle my dental cleanings, oil changes, and tax preparation too. Dr. Baquero and the entire team have been warm, professional, thorough, and consistently wonderful. Nothing but high praise for this office.

Cardiologist appointment in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. My mom told me that she had a doctor's appointment at Kuakini Medical Plaza. I asked her if she wanted me to go with her... Sure! LOCATION: Maika'i Hearts is at the end of the hallway on the 7th floor PARKING: $3 with validation for the first 3 hours ENVIRONMENT: clean, well-lit, air-conditioned, simple decor SERVICE: efficient and professional I have no complaints. Dr. Giselle Baquero entered the exam room about half an hour after the scheduled appointment time. Before that, mom checked in, got our parking ticket stamped, and was shown to the examination room. Her blood pressure and weight were measured and recorded. Her list of medications was verified. The doctor stood up during the appointment and typed notes on a portable computer. She listened to mom's heart and lungs, checked for leg and foot swelling, and made recommendations. Front desk staff scheduled two diagnostic tests and made mom's next appointment. We'll be back in six months! Note: face masks are still required in the building and office

Besides inpatient services at POB III they also provide services at Queen's-West Oahu, their Healthcare Centers on the Neighbor Islands, and outpatient cardiology. They share a remodeled check in and waiting area with the Geriatric Practice. When you are called a nurse will greet you, go over your current medication list, weigh you, and take vitals. You will then be assigned a room, probably by an APRN who will gather or provide more specific information for your visit. The physicians here work closely with their own dedicated APRNs. There may also be someone undergoing clinical CVD training shadowing the physician. I am very comfortable with how they work together as a team. When you and your physician are done the APRN or RN will walk you to an area where you will make your next appointment and receive a summary of your visit. Someone will direct you to the exit area which is in a different area from the reception waiting area. This is an extremely busy practice and despite the apparent size they have to cram in their staff wherever there is space. I've found the physicians and APRNs are always patient and engaged, and helpful in clearly explaining options and procedures. Count me satisfied and happy.

Since it was a pre-op clearance, Mely performed an EKG with a portable device she could wheel into the examination room. Next Kylie, PA actually looked into my ears, mouth and felt my stomach which my doctor has never done. She went over my blood pressure, temperature and EKG readings and told me which meds to stop taking one week prior. She sent me down to the lab for blood and urine tests after. I was happy and impressed that both ladies were both kind, thorough and very pretty plus easy to talk to. I was told if I don't get a call, that's good news and I'm cleared for surgery.

Receptionists were patient and explained all the paperwork needed. I was screened by Mille, who was very professional and friendly. She asked about my symptoms and explained the test she would perform. I returned 40 min later as instructed for the test results. Dr. Gomez then spoke to me about my test results and my choices for medication or wait to see if I get better with the over the counter medications I was already taking. She was very kind, professional, and ensured my lungs were clear of congestion. She spoke in detail about my tests and ensured I didn't have any questions. she wrote a note for me to give to my employer as I would be out sick for 5 days. I appreciate her thinking about that as I may have forgotten to ask as I had a terrible headache. thank you to Dr Gomez, the nurse Dawn, and Mille for my care today what a wonderful team. also the waiting room was large enough so people were not in close proximity to each other. there were masks available and plenty of kleenex and hand sanitizer.
