DAY SURGERY REVIEW: I visited for reconstructive surgery with Dr Alam after MOHS removal of skin cancer on my nose and was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the day surgery staff and their overwhelmingly professional and caring attitude to patients. From admittance to recovery every member of staff was empathetic and caring. I arrived at 6am and was greeted by a nice lady at the counter, checked in, given a wristband, given an estimate and decided to leave it up to HMSA to sort it out at a later date, and then waited to be called into the day surgery ward. It only took 5 minutes and Hubbs n I were walked through and shown into a cubicle to get my pre surgery info and for me to change into the gown and socks n hair bonnet, so sexy...lol. It was luxuriously fitted with a heated blanket which was warm and cosy and had me almost drifting off to sleep ;) The staff were excellent in their care and consideration, and they actually listened to me when I explained where they would have to put the IV as I have a problem with collapsing veins and lymph node removal. I'm also notoriously difficult to get a vein up so my nurse called in the expert, a battle worn no nonsense nurse who sniffed my vein out instantly and had an IV fitted in seconds :) Such a relief to have experts on hand. Hubbs n I waited quite a while before I was taken to the surgical room on the gurney but it was warm and we chatted and it passed quickly, with updates from the staff on the surgeons progress with other patients and a visit from the anesthesiologist and finally the surgeon. Once in the surgery room I shuffled over to the surgery bed and was quickly fitted with a head rest, strapped in and my legs and arms fitted with compression pads by the friendly staff and I was singing along with the music they had playing while I was put out into the land of nod for the actual surgery to commence. Recovery ward was fun with Candice who was so full of mischief and fun, yet very professional and friendly. She really made coming out of anesthetic easy and hilarious. Luckily my anesthesiologist had given me the blue plate special so no nausea which was sooo nice, no throwing up, nothing! I even Ubered back to the hotel without feeling car sick. Hubbs enjoyed the coffee from the hospital cafe, and there were plenty of chairs to sit and wait for our Uber to arrive. I received EXCELLENT care from all the staff at Queens and was blown away by how professional and up to date the facility is. We are really lucky to have this hospital in Hawaii, just wish we had something like this on the west side of Maui where we have no hospital :( It is definitely worth flying over for the top tier treatment you receive at Queens. If I need surgery again in the future I hope it will be at Queens, as I know I will be well looked after by excellent caring staff. read more

This ER is the worst in HNL they are definitely motivated by money over care I went there after being turned away at a Waikiki urgent care. The initial triage was ok but it goes downhill from there never saw a nurse and the doctor had zero personality I walked out but still got a text a few minutes later with a $2k bill to pay if they would put the same effort to care for the patient as they do texting that billing link it may be a decent place...probably not and also hire some housekeeping staff the place is filthy read more

Worst hospital on the island. You'll wait while they treat crackheads and old people who have nothing wrong with them. Go to straub if you want quality care. Nurses are busy on their phones and conversing with each other to notice patients. This place is for ghetto people and crackheads. Asians are the only ones that get treatment here. read more

I am writing this review to recognize the AWESOME MANA & ALOHA SPIRIT that resides here throughout the grounds & within the walls of the Queens Medical Center here in Honolulu. Whoever found and turned in my wallet to the Queens HR group inside this building is a Saint! My wallet was turned in and had everything inside. Money, credit cards, ID's ALL as I had left them. I believe my wallet fell out of my pocket as I was seated on a bench outside this building, waiting to meet up with my wife who works next door. Unbelievably this happened on a Friday and I was contacted on Monday that my wallet had been found under the bench and turned in by a Good Samaritan Angelic Person! The caring staff here secured my wallet and was able to track me down by my VA Card that was on the front viewing window on my wallet. This unique Hospital is known for its critical care and dedication to the values of the Royal Hawaiian Family. I can only add to this legacy of greatness by recognizing the character and great Mana Spirit that reflected in those that work here. Mahalo!!!! read more

I had a cautionary procedure done at QUEEN'S MEDICAL CENTER here in Honolulu... Prior to the procedure they called and told me that my out-of-pocket could be as high as $700 and wanted to know if I still wanted to have the procedure.... I decided with cancer running in my family It was probably worth the cost and went ahead with it. I then end up receiving bill for over $1,800.00 from them. I called and complained and everyone agreed that it wasn't right and would write off the balance over $700.00. I just got as call that their legal department said they will not write it off and I owe it. WORST Medical center in Hawaii!! read more

This is the best hospital on the Island . All my Doctors are in this building, physician Chang D Lai, my OBGYN, Renee Sato, she is very patient and careful and explains everything and is super caring and loving. She helped me deliver my daughter in 2012, the rooms are clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff. Everything is greatly planned and felt loved and cared for. Def recommend this hospital. read more

Waiting at appointment for myself at Queens medical center, they call me back after waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment, they then call my # identifying me by the wrong name insisting it is me. I explain multiple times that's not my name she leaves comes back oh sorry oops.... I ask for a nurse that is paying attention, wait longer, get vitals taken then told to go wait longer cause they aren't ready it is now 45 minutes after my appointment was to and back to the waiting room to rot longer at QMC. I shouldn't be surprised they ignored concerns I had with my son at his well child check a month to the day later we found out he was type 1 diabetic something I literally asked the dr and she blew me off. Cannot wait to get all of our care switched over for the entire ohana to Kapiolani. read more

This is the 1 year anniversary of my brother's passing at the hands of Queens emergency medical facility on Oahu so I'm posting this. He was admitted on a Monday with bleeding ulcers, died on Friday. Their so called "patient centered" approach and "team" of specialists failed to take immediate action. His religion was against blood transfusions. Surely today's medical science and technology should have alternative forms of treatment so doctors can do all they can to try and save a patient without judgement and bias interfering with decision making and acting in a time of crisis. His wife was told they would move him to their other nearby medical facility better equipped to treat him and apparently were WAITING on the gastroenterologist to release him. They FAILED my brother. If he was famous, wealthy, a politician he might still be here today as it would have been expeditious instead of week long agony. He was the superintendent/project manager for Hawaiian Dredging overseeing the job at Pearl Harbor, a good man with years of experience, a Veteran devoted to his family. He wasn't sick or debilitated, had a good work ethic, always committed to seeing a job through to completion. His coworkers were shocked and shut down the job site to attend his memorial. Queens I'm sure feels they did nothing wrong but they failed to respond urgently in a life/death crisis, telling his wife what they would do early in the week but never followed through. They dragged their feet, someone dropped the ball. Shame on you people! It still may not have mattered but I question whether or not they did all they could. read more

Quality of care. Felt like a number and not a patient. Didn't care to treat me or investigate further to treat me accurately. Hate this place. I feel like they literally were waiting for me to leave. Totally unacceptable. Went to kuakini hospital and was treated with surgery on the 4th day. I stayed at queens for 10 days and nothing but drugging me was what they did. Thanks for the addiction. Horrible. I was living in a nightmare that I never knew existed. read more
