    Grand Teton Fly Fishing

    Grand Teton Fly Fishing

We were visiting at a less ideal time (Memorial Day week) for fishing but we really wanted to try…read morefly fishing. I did a lot of research and talked to someone here who explained to me that the runoff from the mountains this early in the season raises the water level so there are only a few places you can try to fly fish during this time of year and possibly have success. This company has a license to fish in areas that not all companies have so I booked with this company and I'm so glad that I did. We stopped by the shop the day before our booking because we were in town. We took care of the fishing licenses (but you can do this online) and were ready to go. We had Tim and Will as our guides. Will texted me the night before we were scheduled and we talked about what time to meet at the shop. When we arrived both Will and Tim were there to greet us and we headed up to the river. There were not very many boats on the river. Again, it's early in the season and it's tough fishing this time of year. Tim and Will were extremely knowledgeable and great instructors. Our family is very familiar fishing but have never fished on fly before. This is completely different from spin rod fishing. It took an incredible amount of patience to instructor beginners like us but they really helped encourage us and build up our confidence. Between the three of our family members on the trip, we brought five fish to the boat! We did get several more on the line but just couldn't set the hooks fast enough. I didn't really notice any of the other boats getting any fish except for one. I'm so glad that I booked with such knowledgeable and patient guides. I am certain we would not have had success this early in the season if we had booked with a different company. I highly recommend this company and especially the amazing guides that we had. These are really great people doing what they love and sharing their knowledge with others.

When I called to check out I was told the half-day charge was $695. That's 90% of the whole day charge! Now, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been fishing in Jackson for years, but this is much more than I expected for a half-day trip. But, I sucked it up....then Bruce, the guy on the phone starts complaining that my tip is too low. Really!? Not cool or appropriate. Well, I pay and I call Scott a couple of weeks later. He makes me feel like its my fault. Now, I know it's buyer beware, but, there was no sense of customer service or certainly any interest to have me use them again. Too bad, I really enjoyed Ryan, the guide. John B

If it's within your budget, I would definitely recommend taking a tour with Ecotours…read more Our guide, Ben, was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Yellowstone and the surrounding area. He was also incredibly patient with our rambunctious kids, which made the experience much more enjoyable for our family. The snacks throughout the day were excellent and thoughtfully selected. The offerings ranged from blueberry muffins (which tasted like they may have come from a local bakery) to bison jerky. Sodas, tea, hot chocolate, and French press coffee were available throughout the tour. Hot drinks were served in stainless steel travel mugs, and water was provided in reusable water bottles that we got to keep--a nice touch that fit well with the company's environmental focus. Lunch was fantastic. The Mediterranean and elote salads were generous enough that we wished we had a way to take leftovers home. The mufaletta sandwich was piled with a generous amount of lunch meat and cheese. The kids also enjoued their PB& Js. The brownies were absolutely divine. We also appreciated that the meal was served in stainless steel bento boxes with real silverware rather than disposable containers, which felt very consistent with Ecotours' name and mission. I can't forget to mention the washable tablecloth and napkins. We enjoyed the viewing hatches on the vehicle. While we only had one opportunity to get close enough to wildlife to really use them, they were a fun feature. Our kids especially loved being able to see out the back windows and open them for a better view. Overall, the tour was well organized, comfortable, and family-friendly. The combination of excellent guiding, great food, thoughtful amenities, and a commitment to sustainability made it a memorable Yellowstone experience.

Unforgettable Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Two-Day Adventure with Chris!…read more Yellowstone is every bit as breathtaking as you'd imagine-and then some! While most visitors come for the iconic Old Faithful (which absolutely lives up to the hype), what truly made our trip exceptional was our guide, Chris. He timed every stop perfectly and knew how to navigate the attractions to get the best views and away from the crowds. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we started the morning of Grand Tetons day with incredible animal sightings. Chris knew exactly where to stop to keep us at a safe distance while we enjoyed every minute of seeing the wildlife. Chris went above and beyond in every way-sharing fascinating insights, spotting wildlife we would've missed, and making sure everyone felt included and engaged. His passion for the park and deep knowledge of its history, geology, and ecosystems made the experience feel personal and unforgettable. If you're planning a trip to Yellowstone, do yourself a favor and ask for Chris. You'll leave with more than just great photos-you'll leave with stories, wonder, and a deep appreciation for this natural treasure. #Wapiti

He kept saying "This is awesome!" as we drove thru lower Yellowstone (referring to the gaperguide). So, I downloaded the TravelStorys app from the Android Play Store... Selected the tour I wanted, had it downloaded after I paid, and then went on my tour. Instead of having to be stuck on a 12 hour tour in a van with a bunch of strangers stopping and going when the tour guide decides WE WENT AT OUR OWN PACE. Anything and everything you could want to know is given to you as you drive thru the park. Bathroom locations, places to eat, which parking lot is better, where the attractions are, etc. We got to pick and choose where to stop and how long to stay. There's even background information about the different stops! Just like a real tour! THIS IS A GODSEND. Especially in these Covid-19 times. Definitely going to be using this service again!!! Super important to do all your downloading on wifi before heading to a National Park (as most parks have poor cell and 4g). And start the tour right before heading into the park. If you accidentally exit the app, go to the TravelStorys app (give it time to load, you don't need internet service as long as it's been previously downloaded) and simply select your tour again. It took my phone a while to load after I accidentally exited out. I had a mini heart attack cuz I thought I needed internet to restart, but it ends up that I just needed more patience to let the app load.
