I had a great visit this morning. Micheline is the best. I checked in from my phone in my car. When I got inside, there were quite a few people waiting so I was worried I'd have to wait a long time. But within 5 minutes, I was called back. My testing was efficient and quick. I'm usually very nervous before blood work because I have bad veins. Micheline made it painless and so quick. I came in at 7:49 and on the kiosk, I asked for a text alert when it was my turn to go in. It said estimated wait time 11 minutes. In the waiting room there's a screen which indicates each person waiting and whether they have an appointment or are a walk in. I watched for TWO hours as my name read things like 3 minutes, 7 minutes, etc. I had a later appointment so although it read appointment, I was technically a walk in. I got that they need to take appointments first and I don't mind being shifted if someone else is there at their appointment time. That's fine. I was trying to figure out the algorithm while waiting and someone else in the waiting room said she was certain it was a computer choosing who was next, etc. Well, when I went to the back to get my bloodwork, the one phlebotomist was telling the other who to call next and so on. The one phlebotomist was readjusting the list which was causing numerous delays. Let me repeat, TWO HOURS to get bloodwork drawn when the screen originally said eleven minutes!!! I feel totally weird giving a lab 5 stars but they met my standards with no issues. I was able to easily make an appointment online, there were several time slots available. Once the appointment was made they were very responsive with confirmation emails with next steps. I arrived on time, checked in using links provided, waited in my car until I received a text to come inside. Inside the waiting area was a check in kiosk complimented by a huge jug of hand sanitizer (This was likely a persons job in the past but thanks to technology just use the machine now, bummer.) Tip: you don't need to use the kiosk if you've checked in online. I was called to the back right away. The staff I dealt with confirmed the details for the service as well as insurance info. They were gentle with "servicing" patients. No grumpy staff, both ladies I dealt with smiled under their PPE gear and there were no issues. There are individuals rooms for each patient and they service kids and adults. Each room appeared to be orderly and clean however I didn't witness any sanitizing after each patient. Fingers crossed that occurred that happens during this covid pandemic. Once I left the waiting room had several people waiting, my appointment was on a early morning Thursday so choose your time wisely. read more

I was only coming in for a physical for a life insurance policy. I ran late, about 10 min, walk in and there is NO reception. Caught a person walking in and asked her a question and she just directed me to their iPad which apparently dropped my appt time since I did not check-in on time. I eventually had to bang on the door to speak to someone after blindly waiting for 30min with no guidance whatsoever and eventually a nurse told me my appt is dropped and now I have to wait once they have time to put me in. But when I was there, I was basically alone with 1 more patient and could've been seen before a rush of new patients walk in. When there is no human being working, no phone number to call, no one to speak to....it's very frustrating. Welcome to the age of automation where no one wants to work. Rude staff! Must keep in mind this is still considered a healthcare facility where services are rendered. During my time I've observed one particular lady employee be rude and dishonest. Claims that no one without an appointment can stay in waiting area when it clearly states if the maximum occupancy was reached (8)! Even after I pointed it out to her she told me to come outside and look at sign while she misread it. I don't know how corporate would feel about this but it's bad practice. Horrible Place!! Went to Quest on 49 Claremont Avenue in Montclair on 8/8/2021. We were told walk ins are allowed. When we got there at 10:30 WE WERE NEVER SEEN for the entire day!!! They kept us waiting for hours!! My brother is a heart surgery patient and they DON'T CARE!! This place closes at 3:00 regardless. All the appointments that were made online were seen first. We waited for HOURS and we were over looked! They should be honest and say no walk in allowed at this time!! Then around 2 :30 a somebody comes out and says we cant see these people. You will not be seen today. What a total waste of time. we waited all that time for nothing!!! They work very SLOW!! They barely call people in and the people stay in a LONG time!!! This was the worst place. Came in with an appointment only to be greeted first with a patient screaming swearing that her appt wasn't in the system. Instead of the employee calming her down she yelled back and it started a fight. Then the employee told and older woman to move away from the door bc she was blocking her entrance but in the rudest tone ever . Terrible service. Rude staff. During Covid while a 78 yo is waiting in a car for a blood test, Debbie feels it's appropriate to call and be rude saying she'a waiting for the patient. After there was no text sent by quest. She's also rude when I escorted my 78 year mother in saying I can't come in. Turns out I'm not stupid and understand that being a physician during Covid but she doesn't need to be rude and have an attitude. Subsequently she needs to come out to get my mother's new address DESPITE the fact that all this has been input into the system prior to coming to the appointment. I've usually had perfectly good experiences here, so this is as much a review of the company as the place. Recently I was there and a) lab tech was coughing (said coffee had gone down the wrong tube, ok; had a bag of Halls lozenges at hand, but, fine); b) I asked if she had been vaccinated and she replied that she "would never get that shot."; c) when I asked if she had been tested for Covid she replied, "When was the last time you were tested" and said she didn't need to take any tests; d) she further explained that Quest couldn't force her to take the vaccine or a Covid test. Totally her right not to get vaccinated, and she was safe in terms of masking and putting on new gloves when she had to draw blood. She was nice and skilled, and good at what she did. But it seemed bizarre that at least Quest wouldn't regularly test its employees given their frequent interactions with people who have immune system issues, etc. (Also, bathroom disinfectant soap dispenser empty, paper towels on a big roll on top of a sample drop off container.) Long story short: no issues with the place in terms of the work done. I've never had a long wait and the folks are friendly and I've always felt in good hands. But if Quest is allowing its employees to both skip vaccinations if they want to, and not making them regularly test for Covid, that's it for me and that company. Not a good experience with this place. The phone system makes it impossible to get any useful information or to ever reach a human. Their fax machine doesn't work and they are surprised every time it screws up. They don't update regularly from the Quest network, so they don't get lab prescriptions that are input by doctors in time for your blood test. Since the phone system has no human access, you cannot confirm in advance if they've received your prescription. In fact the recording actually says "don't worry if you haven't confirmed our receipt of your prescription before you get here. We can call your doctor together". Good chance of that at 7AM! Walk in here with a paper prescription in your hand or don't bother. read more

Nurses are okay when I need to get bloodwork done, but waiting more than 30 minutes to simply drop of a specimen is ridiculous. The lack of a front desk is also frustrating. I would go recommend going to labcorp instead of wasting your time at Quest. read more

I had an appointment, and when I arrived it was almist empty. They have a sign in kiosk, which is good for independence sake but the stand is wobbly. I waited 15 min and was seen, even though a "walk in" was called before me. They have the patient line up and who is next on their TV screen. I wasn't in the system, so the phlebotomist had me call an 800 number to clear things up. She was very nice. Wish I could say more, but I was in and out. read more

Find another lab to go to. I dropped off a lab specimen with the doctor's orders to provide the results. Two weeks later, my doctor tells me know results were received. This location never answers the phone so I spent 1/2 an hour on the phone getting transferred around to find a patient number. They told me they would investigate and then call me back within 48 hours. That didn't happen. Another 1/2 hour on the phone and they finally locate my results. Only then did they fax over to my doctor. Also, the lab technicians were chatting in the hallways, making social distancing impossible. read more

Lab staff was on time and really worked hard getting patients taken care of efficiently. My technician was ultra thorough, had many tests to be completed. Good amount of parking and handled the parameters of masks, distancing and cleaning rooms and furniture after each patient very effectively. read more

Don't come when they open expecting to get in and out. I waited almost 2 hours. There is only a kiosk and no one to speak to prior to your turn. The wait time continuously went up instead of went down. I will definitely try a different location next time. Save yourself! read more

I cannot say enough GREAT things about our recent experience at this location! BIG shoutouts to employees Maynor and Gina, who were helped us during our visit. My 15-year-old son fainted after having blood drawn, and Maynor and Gina were extremely kind and professional while monitoring him and keeping him safe until he regained consciousness. As far as getting blood drawn goes this was a good experience....at least for my son who was getting it done. Receptionist/phlebotomist was a little unprofessional at first singing along to her music as she keyed in the tests that needed to be done into her computer only stopping her singing to exclaim "sh!t" when she mistyped something (I counted five times she did this). It wasn't a big deal as my son was in the waiting room and even if he was by me it's not like he's never heard the word...or even used it! Anyway, once we were actually called into a room she was quite accommodating. I asked her if we could switch rooms to one with a bed/table so my son could lay down while she drew the blood (past two times we went for blood work he got very dizzy and nearly passed out). She was also able to draw blood on the first poke of the needle....I can't tell you how many times my son has been a pin cushion for these people as they repeatably attempt to hit a vein. Also, unlike the geriatric village that is my local quest this quest had little to no wait and we were called 30 minutes before our appointment time. Came in for a simple blood samples for a blood test. Been here many times with no problems. They stabbed me over 4 times (not telling me) and put a hot compress on my arm (to hide their errors). Removed it and the arm is now bruised and hard and crusty over a very large area. thinking about suing quest. It took 1 hour this time and the staff was different. Unsure what to do. read more

The worker came out to the lobby and told me I had to wait in my car because I was a walk in. What difference does that make? Had an appointment to get a standard test done in November. I watched a Quest employee respond to other patients in a very abrupt way saying that they only had 2 people working there and that they were overwhelmed. I felt sympathy for the employee, she acted and looked overworked. Went again in December and every chair (was 6 feet apart) but taken. There were also people waiting in the alcove. I had checked the website twice before arriving, to see if an appointment was needed for a drop off, it was not indicated. When I signed in, my name went up on the TV and it said 2 minutes. After 15 minutes a staff member came out and told me to ignore the TV with my name and time on it, and that the wait time was 1-2 hours!! When I said I was just here to drop off, she said that I should have been told by "the girl" at the last appointment-to make a drop off appointment. She said they only had 2 people working there and told me I had to wait in my car until I was called and that even for a drop off, there was "paperwork". From my perspective, while the Quest employees on both occasions were abrupt and could benefit from some customer relations training, I can't believe that one month later this Quest Lab continues to be yet again understaffed! This is an upper management problem. Do they really need a technician to do the paperwork? How about hiring a medical secretary? How about hiring more technicians? And also a human receptionist so they can get rid of that plastic kiosk!!! Maybe if people had a person to talk with, they would not be so confused and frustrated! On both occasions, people had so many different issues that staff seemed unable (or too overwhelmed) to assist them with! I would expect that QUEST could do a lot better! read more

They messed up my prescription so I had to have a urine test 4 times. They had a waiting room full of people not practicing covid regulations and they locked the door at 3:15 even though they recommend people to wait outside and wait for text. The customer service is atrocious. The workers not only locked out patients with appointments but yelled at patients. read more

Extremely rude, horrendous staff. I did the online check in and checked in at the kiosk when I arrived, as you are supposed to. The whole point of holding your place in line via the check in is so that you don't have to wait if you arrive before the time listed. 20 minutes of waiting I politely knocked on the door (they were not administering any tests so I have no idea what they were doing). One of the ladies comes out and I tell her that my doctor sent the prescription electronically. She was so incredibly rude to me, told me that they couldn't accept it and spoke down to me. I told her that this person did it last time and gave her a name, her response "My name isn't --, it's Denise." Finally another woman came out and told me politely that I could try to go to the CVS so that they could print it. And then they told me that they would have to remove my place in line. 1. I don't mind the wait, I understand things get backed up but I was waiting and they were not administering tests on anyone else. 2. If one of them had come out and checked me in, they could have told me right away that they wouldn't have been able to print the prescription. 3. They obviously need a lesson on how to talk to customers because their rude tones were not called for. read more

This is a pathetic place to go for your blood work. My wife went to this place to get a few tests done, and to begin with the staff was super rude to her: as if they were performing these tests free of charge. Then while leaving the facility she was told that they dont know whether they can email the results to her or not. I mean come on- how can you not know how are you planning to transmit the test reports. Then after a couple of days when she called them to discuss the status on the the report- she was told that her account is locked up. My wife had to waste 5 hrs of her valuable time for this stupid place. Trust me. Stay away from this place, driving to the city is better than going through this chaos. Their billing practices are suspect. My doctor sent samples to them for testing. Turns out Quest was supposed to bill me directly. But Quest Diagnostic never sent a bill until 4 months later. Never expected a bill because I thought it was covered by insurance. No issue with the actual charge. But pissed I got a threatening FOURTH notice note when it is actually the FIRST time they ever sent me a bill. Luckily I got this one before they sent me to collections for $20. Moral of the story is watch the billing @ Quest. Is this place so good it is worth them screwing up your account and threatening to send you collections? Doubt it. Do not go here. I waited for two hours and then finally they took me back. It took the lady at least twenty minutes to enter all my information, complaining about all sorts of things: how long my doctor's name is, how many tests he ordered (4), how many pages printed when he ordered said number of tests, the fact that my information didn't auto-populate when she entered my birthdate. Finally it came time to enter the blood tests. She gets on the phone with corporate. After two and a half hours of waiting it turns out that quest doesn't even offer the (not uncommon) blood tests I came in to get. Heaven forbid there should be some kind of system to make sure you can actually get the blood test you come in for before you wait for two hours. Instead of apologizing she began to blame my doctor for not warning me to go elsewhere because Quest doesn't offer this test. All my doctor said is that any major testing center should offer it. Which is true. My mistake was choosing Quest. Don't make the same mistake. read more
