There's no one present at the desk wheh you first enter. I checked in via my phone but you can also check in at one of the monitors in office. I checked in early as my appt was at 1:10 pm and was called in about 15 mins later. Typically, it takes 5 mins at most, so they may be low staffed. The Phlebotomist that helped me today was nice. She was a bit into her phone but who isn't nowadays just thought it was odd. I had not been here in awhile but my annual check up is coming up and so here I am. I have been coming to this quest for years and the customer service has gone now tremendously. I do like that I can schedule my spots online and check in via phone. It's easier than trying to schedule with my doctor's office like I used to. It's clean and that's also really important. read more

Made appointment and was required to have Photo ID, insurance card, and now CREDIT CARD upfront to have labs taken. NOT!!! Had too many billing errors with Quest over the years. Have Quest bill for the money rather then force you to seek a refund if mis-billed. Speak up about this practice wherever encountered as insurance and settling medical bills is always after the encounter with exception of copays and coinsurance. There are alternative providers that don't require collateral. I SWITCHED LABS, and hope others will follow. Also consider the lab is not posting pricing upfront and surprise billing is common, then consider that sinking feeling when you have already been charged by the time you get your statement in the mail. This review is specifically for Noel. I am very sensitive and have had issues when getting my blood drawn before. I let Noel know my concerns and how previously a butterfly needle has been needed to properly find my vein and draw blood. He listened, was patient and amazing when drawing my blood. Regarding the location on Lombard Street: I would give it to zero stars if I could. Had an experience several months ago where I went to get blood drawn as I regularly do for my glucose levels. After being called into the room, I realized the long sleeve undershirt was not going to allow the blood draw, so I left the room and went into the restroom to remove it to make my arm available for the blood draw and came back in to the room partially undressed. I have a disability, so I am self-conscious about removing clothing in front of people so I asked if, the door could be closed and the young person helping me agreed. The manager barged in and in a very rude, condescending and accusatory tone demanded that the door remain open. Neither I, nor the young person attending to me could understand her odd behavior. If I was advised at the beginning, there was a policy against closing the door I would have not have asked. Oddly, there must be some sort of privacy violation, keeping the door open with a partially undressed man inside. It's kind of weird because the offices are set up just like doctors offices where doctors keep the door closed during the examination. I guess I assumed it was a similar arrangement until this event. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Likely this employee needs to seek counseling with a therapist to deal with any unresolved childhood trauma. She is clearly triggered by men and inappropriately projects her experience into unrelated situations. I'm sorry for whatever it is that she experienced that made her this way, but she has psychological issues that need to be addressed or this will continue to happen. I brought this situation up to Maria, her manager, but ultimately my complaint seems to have fallen on deaf or unresponsive ears; this location continues to get bad reviews. I'm surprised Quest has not shut this location down. At the very least, the office dynamic would be a good location for a case study on how to not treat paying customers. And yet, I have to give kudos to the young person that was trying to help me, and eventually did draw my blood. She remained professional and kind throughout the whole weird process. I wish I could remember her name. As for me I continue to visit quest centers for my blood draw and I've never had a problem at any of these centers except for Lombard location and I've been doing this regularly for close to 10+ years now. Today, I went to my regular location at Seventh Street and they are the best; Stephanie helped me today and she was very proficient, kind and professional. If I ever have no choice, but to return to Lombard location, I will take my wife with me of 34 years to avoid this kind of crap situation. read more

After waiting 15 minutes (yes, after making an appointment)I learned then that this specimen would require YET ANOTHER APPT JUST FOR DROP OFF! Livid at how horribly a sick and old a person was being treated by the poor organization of this company, I completed the specimen tests and made an appt---waited over twenty minutes before I learned the lab tech had trouble finding the lab work . After 30 minutes, I left - WHAT HAPPENED TO THE QUALITY FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPANY? Try treating sick folks with dignity by rethinking how folks (usually sick folks) are served. Great service here! I was a bit nervous with the mixed reviews but I decided to give it a shot since it was close by my work. I had an appointment at 7:40, checked in at 7:42, waited about 10 min . The girl that helped me was very apologetic for the wait and said because of the time change coming up, their system overbooked everyone and they were unable to cancel appointments. I told her no problem, completely understood. She was very friendly and talkative . She showed me my vials with my name on them before she put them in the tray for processing. Came in to drop off a urine sample, was told at Santa Paula location I was able to drop off at any location. I asked a staff member here if I needed to wait just to double check and she responded so rudely. It was uncomfortable. There was nobody inside so I checked in myself with the kiosk machine. 10 mins later, someone shows up and scolds me for not having an appointment that they do not take in walk ins on Saturday. Just used this location for the second time this week, I usually go to a different one because it is closer to my home. I have to say, the staff here is terrific, the place is clean, organized and a little less claustrophobic than the other location. The woman who took my blood a couple of days ago was great, I unfortunately did not get her name. The technician who took my blood today was Kelsey. She was terrific, had questions for my doctor and spent the time to call and double check some things. There was no rushing me through the building. I'll be coming back to this one for sure. Signed up for auto payments while in office for lab work, had to change the credit card to an HSA debit card and have been transferred to 6 different representatives before getting transferred out of Quest entirely to a 3rd party that had no record of me in their system. This location is a lot better than the one in Ventura. The staff is always really nice and efficient. You must make an appointment to have a fast, pleasant experience. Otherwise you may wait a long time or be turned away. I have been to this location four times in the past few months and always a great experience especially with the blood draw. Zero stars for the RUDE woman who was working the desk. I went in to have bloodwork done as per my doctor. I am what they call a "tough draw". This means it is difficult to find a vein when drawing blood. Often the tech has to poke me several times and while I try to be patient, it eventually starts to hurt. Last time I was at this location, I had to come back a second day because nobody at the place the first time was able to find a vein on me. They recommended that I return and ask for a woman by a specific name (which I cannot remember now, darn it). So, I came back the next day and asked for that woman. She did a bang-up job of drawing blood. I vowed to remember her name for my next visit, but as I said, I forgot it. So, I went in today and asked the woman at the counter if she knew of one specific tech who was the one the others turned to if they had a difficult draw. She said "well, they're all good". I replied, 'yes, but I have difficulties and I had the name of a woman from my previous visit - I think I might remember if I heard her name again.'. The woman apologized and seemed to refuse to help me further with my concerns. I told her "if it were YOUR arm that they twisted the needle round and round inside, you might be a little bit more helpful.'. Her response was "you should have remembered her name"!!! I was pretty shocked at her treatment but said nothing. Four stars for Melissa who just happened to be the tech who worked on me. I told her of my concerns and she was able to get a successful stick the first time. I've made a memo on my iPhone so next time I won't have to worry about remembering anyone's name. Good thing I had an appointment, right? Well, there was a newbie at the front desk who was not paying attention to the sign in sheet. I told him I had an appt. He screwed up again by not placing my paperwork in the next room. I was wondering why my name wasn't being called to get my blood drawn. Goodness sakes! I remember an older patient complaining that she had to wait so long. She was also fasting (was tired & hungry). I felt sorry for her. Training a newbie during morning rush hour is the worst time. I had an appointment at 10:45 am for the Lombard location. Easy and plentiful parking. There were 3 people in the waiting area when I walked in, so it was pretty empty. No one was at the front desk, but I saw the signs asking people to check in using the touchscreen device at the desk (one at counter height and the other was at wheelchair height.) If one was not tech savvy they might be confused by checking in this way vs talking with a person. My doctor wanted a specific blood test, but Quest no longer does that one. I thought it would be a wasted trip here, but Sarah investigated what they currently do and found the closest match, called my doctor's office and let them know that while they didn't do the ordered test, they could do a similar test. Sarah faxed the info to my doctor's office, then called few minutes later to get authorization. I so appreciated this extra effort on Sarah's part, especially because she was supposed to clock out at 11! (I had visions of sorry, we don't do that test anymore. End of visit) Sarah does a great venipuncture and I didn't even feel it when she changed the collecting tubes. Facility (Lombard location): Staff Patient Care 5/31/2019 - just got out of another blood draw. Seamless check in with the QR code. Arrived a few minutes before my appt at 8:30 am; called back soon after and was done/out the door by 8:31 am. Maia is a wonderful tech! Hardly felt the venipuncture, and did not feel it at all when she changed vials. Lobby and back rooms were clean. Excellent experience overall. read more
