But she did point us to this one. It's an older neighborhood in Sugar Land and it looks like it's been there forever. But it's totally worth finding: - Well maintained bike/jogging trail that goes for a couple of miles - Skate park for the teenage boys in your family - Tennis - Baseball/Softball fields that are well maintained and used by the Little League - Sand Volleyball - A public pool The pool is pretty basic but it ranges from 3 to 12 feet and has 2 diving boards. It's also dirt cheap. Sugar Land residents pay $1 for kids under 18 before 5 and $2.25 for adults before 5, $0.50 for kids/$1.00 for adults after 5. Non residents can use the pool for a little more: $1.25 for kids under 18 and $2.85 for adults before 5, $0.65 for kids and $1.25 for adults after 5. We eventually found Memorial Park in a newer part of Sugar Land. But the pool at City Park is a good option for the summer if you don't have ready access to one in your neighborhood and the trails are well maintained. If your kids are into skateboards, the skate park has shade and looked pretty popular.

We exchanged text messages beforehand where he explained how everything worked, what to expect, and what we needed to bring, which helped make us feel prepared and comfortable before even arriving. The process starts with a trial lesson, which costs less than the standard tuition and gives families an opportunity to see if the program is a good fit. They also offer Saturday time slots, which is a huge plus since the kids are in school during the week. The facility itself is very clean, organized, and unique compared to other swim schools we have looked at. They require everyone to rinse off before and after lessons, and the overall environment felt well maintained and professional. Most of the instructors appeared to be younger, likely college students, but every single one we interacted with was attentive, careful, and great with the kids. What stood out most to me was how well they helped my children feel comfortable. Even though my boys typically love being in the water, it still took them some time to warm up to the structure and environment of the lessons. The instructors handled that transition with patience and understanding. We are still deciding whether we will continue long term because the pricing is definitely something families need to consider carefully. This is the main community pool for the subdivision of Telfair. Located next to the Central Hall…read moreand the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land at University Blvd and New Territory Blvd. Since this is a community pool, you would need a pool tag to get in. The pool tag is essentially a key fob (2 per household) that raises the parking arms leading to the parking lot for the pool and entering the pool. Enter the pool, sign in on the tablet, find an empty spot, and have fun! For you long time Telfair residents who have just thought about checking out the pool for the first time in almost 12 years, check your key fobs (if you ever applied for one), if they are the white ones, you need to get them changed at the Telfair Central Hall during office hours. This pool is fairly large with children's play and kiddie pool areas that have water sprouts and geysers for kids to get in and cool off. There is also a slightly deeper area for older kids to enjoy the heightened buoyancy deeper water offers. Off to the side, there are some lap pool areas offering more serious swimmers to do their laps. Perhaps the main attraction is none other than the towering, multi-story water slide that... If it is open, it has water shooting out of it. If you have gone on a cruise ship and seen those large water slides on the top deck of the ships and are kicking yourselves of not being able to work up the nerve to try it? Now is your chance to do it, and you don't have to pay to use (that is, additional, except for being a resident). As with all large water slides sending people down the chute with gravity's assistance, please remove all loose articles (like jewelry, glasses, etc.) before going on the slides. Because if they fly off, who knows if you will ever find them (whole) again. There are restrooms in the facility and lifeguards on duty when the pool is open. One thing I do wish that it has are shower stalls inside to allow residents more convenience and privacy to change out of their wet swimwear before getting into their cars. A few hand dryers won't hurt either, but then again, people will start asking about lockers and benches like the Aquatic Center, good ol' Aquatic Center. For a community pool, it is still a very good one. The other community pool closer to our house doesn't open as early as this one and certainly isn't as big. So we will be coming here more often. The real challenge now is to get our little 2 year old to start liking the water.

The owner is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. He yells at his coaches and the kids and has told girls (10-12 years old) that they suck on many different occasions. He also yells at the parents, and communication is very poor. If you decide to go here do not pay in full, if your child gets hurt you will not get a refund. All he cares about is making money, and not how he treats the people who help him make it. With that being said, there are many more volleyball clubs all around Houston with coaches who will be more invested in developing your child's volleyball skills, and who are a lot more competitive than Katy Elite. I HIGHLY suggest considering other options where you and your child will be respected.
