On the return ferry to Pier 6 (around 5-6 PM), the worker responsible for ushering passengers on and off was extremely rude and unprofessional. He was yelling at passengers, including families with young kids, and went so far as to separate children from their parents simply because the kids had bicycles and the parents didn't. Watching small children being forced away from their families was stressful and upsetting for everyone nearby. Instead of calmly explaining procedures or ensuring safety, the staff member barked orders and treated riders with disrespect. Governors Island is supposed to be a fun and family-friendly destination, but this kind of treatment is unacceptable. Families should never feel unsafe or disrespected when taking public transportation, and staff should be trained to handle passengers with patience and care, not hostility. I hope management takes this seriously and trains their ferry staff better. Until then, I would warn anyone with kids to be prepared for a very negative and unsettling ferry experience.

I had never been there before, it was a nice day, it was a nominal fee if my recollection serves me right, I decided it was something to do. So we boarded the boat and set sail, it was a relatively short trip and we got about 50 minutes until the next back to Brooklyn. I got to walk around, eat at good food truck , view some sights, take some pictures, and learn some history all in I didn't have the luxury of going back this past summer, but hopefully next summer I can make my way back there.

It's mostly just tug boat companies, but it's pretty cool in my opinion. - Views of the Bayonne Bridge, it's currently under construction so there are some cool things to see with the construction process if you are into that kind of thing. - Bocce, they have the pimpest bocce courts I have seen in a long time. I am not sure what you have to do to play bocce here, there was a sign that mentioned having a permit, but whatever it takes I'd do because these courts are legit. Street parking was pretty easy to find and there were one or two playgrounds for kids also in the park.

Not one hasn't been totally impressed. Most ask to go again. Great way to get to Rockaway Beach. About the only way to Governor's Island. Get a pack of ten rides and it cost less than a bus $2.90. So after…read morework I was taking ferry from Wall St home why not home to Wall St. The upside to ferry is its more reliable than subway. Come on man the subway has turned into a shit hole. Especially early morning and dont even talk about the mental patients. And try to find a cop who isnt on their phone. So riding the ferry is relaxing ride on the waves. And the views are a lot nicer than concete walls and smelly ass train stations. Shall i go on? You can see why the ferry is the way to go. I am fortunate to live close and greatly appreciate the accessability. And its less than $3 a ride if you buy 10 ride pass.

The Salt Marsh Trails is an easy and enjoyable hike, perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a…read morerelaxing walk in nature. I'd consider it a level-one hike with beautiful views along the way. It's just over a mile, making it very doable for kids and teenagers as well. Before this, we tried some of the harder trails nearby, which I'd recommend doing with a partner for safety. This trail is a great choice if you're new to hiking or just want a peaceful, scenic experience. Also the Salt Marsh Nature Center is nearby for bathroom and educational on plants and the insects that are around.

You can relax and watch the sea birds. I walked in and out of the trails for an hour. Very high grassy areas so check for ticks. We don't have very many scenic walking areas here so enjoy this. There's usually not too much of a line except for nice weekends when everyone is headed to Governors Island. The only times we've ever had a problem getting a ferry here are when there is a cruise ship at the terminal in Red Hook, and the last time that happened, we had to wait for 3 ferries to arrive (so nearly 2 hours) before there was one with enough space to board. Next time we're in that situation, I'm either going to check out the stop at Pier 1 or find an alternative to the ferry, because waiting that long was a frustrating waste of time. But outside of those instances, this stop has been great.
