To say that we were already unhappy would be an understatement, but in an effort to get our vacation off to a happier restart, we opted to travel with Irish CityLink to make our way from the Dublin Airport to Limerick where our hotel was waiting. We met a lovely airport employee who helped us find the correct Zone (Zone 10 for those of you who will be coming this way and need to get from Dublin Airport to Limerick) and managed to find the right bus stop, but unfortunately had just missed the 8PM bus. Although we were told by numerous people in the airport that we could just pay the bus driver and travel, with the 10PM being the last bus heading to Limerick and it being a Friday night, we decided to book fares for myself and my husband just to be sure we had seats. That's where the trouble began: the site wasn't working and reservations weren't possible (verified by several people we talked to that were all having challenges trying to make reservations), asked one of the drivers for Zone 9 for some help who didn't seem to be very knowledgeable or didn't want to take the time to assist (weren't sure which is was), and was chastised by a baggage handler who to told us to make a reservation and then and wished us good luck and told us to we should be better organized when we told them their site wasn't working. I'm guessing customer service isn't their strong suit since their offices were closed and their people are empowered to help. We ended up taking Flight-Link to a town pretty close to Limerick and then took a an Uber to our hotel. So far, not impressed with the customer service or food in Ireland yet! Will keep you posted.

That's because I always barely catch it, and before being treated to a tirade of abuse from the driver, the other passengers get to see me run down custom house quay, red faced with enormous cases flailing to and fro, cursing myself for not getting the train. The City link buses stop for half an hour at the airport and the additional stop makes the already lengthy trip even less bearable. The journey may be cheaper than others but it takes so long that it really isn't worth it if you're staying for the whole trip.

You can purchase your pass and wait for the Airlink bus (ours was the 747 - easy to remember, I know). You get a nice scenic ride along the expressway and eventually alongside the Liffey river. The bus dropped us off just a half block from our hotel!!! You can't beat that!!! Friendly, prompt and timely service on a new double decker bus - this sure beats the Blue line coming from Ohare to downtown Chicago.

The 747 and 757 lines (great names) take different routes through the city and to the big train stations. While it took me a bit to figure out which was the right bus and which stop was the right one for me, I got there. €6 for a single or €10 for a return, the bus ride was quick and stopped two blocks from my hotel. Super easy. Lots of space for luggage downstairs and I decided that it was a good idea to stay with the luggage. There was enough room to stand nearby. Yes, the bus offers a free wifi signal. Bonus! And then... the return. The bus blew right past the stop. Yes, we flagged it. Yes, the driver looked right at us. No, it did not stop.

Dave's said most of what I would have. I'd add that travel time depends hugely on traffic - I've had rides between the same places take anything from 30 minutes to an hour and 20. The price is right and it's very convenient to city centre and a good number of neighbourhoods along the way and beyond, too. Just plan for a very long trip at times of heavy road traffic and/or bus use. It's not just an airport bus, after all, and every stop takes time to complete.

The public buses takes you to the same location as the air+coach and it is only 1.85 Euros compared to the 7 Euros for the Air-coach. The time might be about 5 minutes longer than the air-coach but that is still not worth it when you are paying 5.15 Euros more for a ticket. The drivers are always helpful to tell you when you are nearing the airport and which of the stops you need to get off to at depending on what type of flight you are taking. So it is as convenient as any other type of transportation. And I am a sucker for double-decker buses. I always love sitting in the front the the top deck of the bus.

They have shuttle buses that collect from the carparks and drop you off at the airport and these are regular enough. Also if your car does not start when you get back I believe they will send out breakdown service to sort your car out. The negative for me was that when I returned from my holiday I had to wait a long time for the red shuttle bus and when it did finally come along it was packed to the rafters which made it very very uncomfortable. Where was the shuttle bus that is meant to come along every 5 to 10 minutes? I felt I was back on the London underground with the invasion of space on all sides. I just hoped that everyone had taken a shower! Very tiring after a long evening of travel.

Follow the signs from baggage claim to ground transportation and you can buy a ticket at a couple of spots along the way including from an attendant at the curb. (If you don't purchase a return ticket, you can buy it from the driver.) The bus makes a few stops - ask the attendant which one works best for you. Also ask about your return as some pickup spots are better than others. Load your bags and off you go. They will ask that you wear your seatbelt and I'd suggest it. If the driver makes a short stop in traffic, and you're having an encounter with the seat in front of you. Don't do that. 30 minutes or so and the bus is making its first stop in Dublin. Along the way, the bus had USB outlets and wifi. Great for figuring out where you're headed next! It was comfortable and speedy and short of a direct train, the best way to get downtown. Typically free liquor samples - although don't go crazy if you have a long flight! Decent food options. Free and decent wi-fi. What's not to like. More importantly, having now once gotten stuck overseas due to customs being closed in the US, knowing you'll complete customs here on the front end is a huge plus. Factor that in to your travel plans (don't worry, TSA pre-check and Global Entry are in full swing). I loved being able to just 'walk out' after arriving back in the states from Dublin.

Leaving Dublin for the US was also efficient. First you go through security then US Customs. So when you arrive in US you do not have to go through customs. The Customs officials were thorough and nicer than the US. Unfortunately the Liffey lounge with access through priority pass is not accessible after customs. The map is misleading. It appears that it is by the gate at Gate 400 but there isn't a gate 400. One lounge is in the terminals but needs to be reserved on line. No reservations were available at 7 am day of our flight. It is also not available on priority pass. Important to note: Once you go through customs, you cannot go back! After customs, there was minimal food and shopping. A few small duty free kiosks, 1 restaurant, a few coffee shops with little food options, and a small WH Smith. We could only find 1 water refilll station. Bathrooms were crowded.

This short term parking lot and attached hall are just across the flyover from the airport's arrival and departure area. On the far side of the Atrium a taxi rank and Busáras stops are neatly arranged along the looping new roads built just behind the garage. Inside are facilities to pay for parking, check or buy replacement/ additional luggage as well as a convenience store with cafe style seating if there's absolutely no way you can wait to get into the airport for your breakfast roll.

Another day, another car park review!…read more I must say, I kinda regret having such allegiances with Trinity St Car Park now. Jervis St is definitely the spiffier option! It's got everything you could want in a car park and more. Let me break it down for ya. - €3/hour parking - cheapest I've found in the city centre so far. (the search continues...) - Really wide drives / roads / paths (what are they called in car parks?!!) - Lots of space within the individual parks - You can stick your credit card in when you enter, and again at the end, which means you never need to queue at those blasted machines again, or lose your ticket - Free parking for the first hour if you shop in Dunnes - If you shop in M&S, you can pull up to a specific parking bay, call down to the shop, and they'll bring your shopping straight up for you, so you don't have to do all the 'lugging' - Free buggies on loan from the customer service area in the centre if you want to ferry lazy, sorry tired, kids ;-) - Free battery charging service for your car, if you're a greenie electric lover - Free tyre pump service. How good is all that?! Minus points though for the following reasons: - No lovely aul fellas sitting in a little hut waitin for a chat (I salute you Trinity) - No numbers on the spaces as far as I can see.
