Contacted this company regarding the construction of a concrete block retaining wall (40' X 3') Representative visited our property about 2 weeks after booking appointment and spent about half an hour reviewing the project . showed a good level of interest. about another 10 -12 days go by and I receive their proposal which barely contained any details, pretty much jumps to the price. mind you this wasn't a super complicated project but the fact that proposal was so vague, I reached out to the rep requesting the additional info and a drawing on the plat map I supplied to him since this was going to require a building permit which I was going to obtain myself. Crickets. Never heard back from him. Note to the owner: you lost out because you all dropped the ball. sad read more

I started with this lawn care company a number of years ago. They did a great job with hardscape and garden planning. Their lawn care was equally good. Then, one fall, their crew members pulled up 90% of our perennial ground covering along our flagstone walk. They denied doing it and, therefore, never replaced it. Funny thing, THEY are the ones who had planted it during the hardscape install. Why would they only plant a few and leave the rest of the walk bare? Then we planted a perennial grass in a berm on our front lawn along with annual flowers. That fall, they removed all of the plantings, including the perennial grasses. Now, this spring, they cleared our beds but left all of the dead mums - which are also perennial and should have been trimmed back for the spring and summer. They completely left the large planters on our front porch with all the dead stuff. Now, they have jacked up their prices drastically and will not negotiate, telling us we can just reduce service to save money. Wow! We have contracted with another lawn care provider and advised QVL multiple times that we will not be sigining a 2025 contract and have had to ask them to STOP coming onto our property to perform spring clean up. Today, there is an invoice for upcoming annual lawn care in my email in-box with no signed contract, mind you, AND multiple times being told we are no longer in need of their services. They are not returning my calls. The biggest problem is that we were required to establish ACH auto-pay, connected to our checking account. I fear they are about to debit us for the first of 12 installments - almost $1,000! This is clearly the most difficult vendor I have ever worked with. What does it take to finally break up with you? You are like the high school boyfriend who just keeps hanging around. It's creepy. I would have recommended QVL except they think they own me and my bank account. They are about to find out differently. Unless you have unlimited funds to keep fixing their mistakes, and don't care how much you spend to have your lawn tended to, steer clear of this company. read more

Do NOT use this company for snow removal. They will do as LITTLE AS POSSIBLE and still charge you as if they completed their job. SEVERAL times this company was employed to remove snow and ice from my building and the adjacent buildings. We just got about 7 inches of snow. Understandable that there was a lot happening and it takes time to arrive. What is NOT understood or acceptable is for them to NOT SHOVEL AND SALT THE WALKWAYS, BUT CHARGING FOR IT?!! NOT OKAY! This has happened a few times now. Why not just do it correctly the FIRST TIME. It snowed SUNDAY AND MONDAY. They came and did the parking lot, and get this, HALF of the walk to the door. HALF!!!!!!!!!!!! NO SALT, JUST HALF THE SIDEWALK ON THE SIDE, and NONE OF THE FRONT! Again, this was PAID FOR. It's now THURSDAY, and after numerous calls and complaints, we FINALLY HAVE A CLEAR WALKWAY!!! Do NOT patronize this business. The other reviews are right. While working with this company, I often observed dishonest business practices and manipulation to increase profits at the cost of the customers. St. Louis is full of honest and professional Landscaping companies who value actual relationships with their customers instead of maximizing their bottom line. 3/11/22: I received an inappropriate email after reaching out to this company for a third time. The email is now attached to this review. This company has now made me wait past the legal timeframe to receive my w2. Additionally, they have shared my tax information via an insecure email WITHOUT my consent and have yet to provide proof that my w2 was postmarked by January 31,2022. They've also accused me of threatening their company, when I simply stated I'd have to contact the IRS if i could not receive my w2 in a timely manner. Edit 2/2/22: The employer has left a response claiming I never contacted them, while also divulging personal information online. Now the company is being openly dishonest and unprofessional. I spoke with the receptionist over the phone who assured me the office manager would call me as soon as possible, which never happened. We contracted for lawn care such as seeding, weed control and aeration for two years. At first, they were very good and communicated well. Second year, response to request for information on additional services was lackluster and, in one case, dismissive. We enquired about trimming boxwoods and proposed price was extortionate. Request for information on a rain sensor they advertised was bungled and bordered on rude. They put down grass seed last year and were not reasonably careful as we spent a good deal of time pulling grass out of our flowerbeds which had not occurred the year prior. We asked for a bid on the addition of a raised flowerbed along our fence. The price quoted was double what we had done by another company. Our contract provided for weed control and after the first year the violets took over worse than before. I would not recommend this company. read more

Two weeks ago these guys quoted me less than half what their competitors quoted, but I guess you get what you pay for. They were to remove six shrubs along the house plus a large azalea along the garage. With the cold weather coming in I asked if I should wait until spring but they said it wouldn't be an issue. After they ignored several of my e mails trying to schedule a day to do the work, I came home on Friday to find the shrubs gone. I thought it strange that they didn't call or e mail to let me know they were coming, but the work was done finally, so I didn't complain. They did leave a lot of roots and debris behind. That's when I noticed that the azalea had not been touched. I e mailed Dennis back and he replied promptly, asking for a picture of it and saying they would come back the following week. Today (Monday) I arrived home to find the azalea trimmed, but the trunk mainly still intact. Unbeknownst to me, the crew left my back gate open and my dog had escaped while I was photographing the remains of the azalea to send to Dennis to ask for an explanation. After 40 minutes of chasing her around the neighborhood in single-digit weather, I finally caught up with her. I find it very unprofessional and careless that these guys didn't clean up after themselves. Especially since the work hadn't even been completed yet. Beware! Beware! I am absolutely appalled by this company. We were quoted about $400 for leaf removal. Then received a bill for more than $1000, stating that it required 3 people 4 hours to pick up sticks and leaves. I could have cleared the leaves in that amount of time by myself, probably including bagging of all the leaves. I also watched them pile up all the leaves in 45 minutes! Furthermore, this yard has been cared for all year by a landscaping, lawn care, and tree care specialists until October. We just needed a quick cleaning up of leaves and didn't have time. There WAS NOT 10-12 billable hours of work to be done! Now we're left with an "our word against theirs" situation. Please heed my word, and others who have posted negative reviews with situations very similar to mine, find someone else for your yard needs. For reference, my yard is 0.28 acres. Update: They finally came down to a little less than $500, which is still a lot compared to other companies. They were quite unpleasant as well (the staff in the office, not the staff that cleaned up our yard). read more

My dealings with this company have been a nightmare from beginning to end. I was a happy customer of Clayton Lawn care when I learned it had been taken over by QV. The company failed to respond to frequent emails and voicemail messages, provided services I did not order, even after I finally talked with someone on the phone and specified what services I did want, and sent confusing invoices for these services. When I finally cancelled all service contracts they had me down for, a crew nevertheless showed up today to mow my lawn. The worst experience I have ever had with a company! read more

Last summer I had Quiet Village do my landscaping my back and front yard. Dennis let me know about the Rainscape rebates available through the Deer Creek Watershed Alliance. They designed a rain garden with all native plants in my back yard, we diverted water from my driveway to the rain garden instead of down the sewer as well as rain barrels to collect water from my roof which I now use to water my tomatoes and basil. The design was selected by the Deer Creed Watershed Alliance and I got a $2k rebate check a few months later!! I couldn't be more thrilled with my experience and now my plants are well established and starting to flourish, it has been fun this year to watch everything bloom. read more

Very disappointed. Got completely overcharged for standard work on a relatively small yard (front is ~400 square feet not a ton of landscaping, back is smaller). Whatever they put on the lawn did not help, but that's not my main issue. The issue is what was quoted (see pics) and what they ended up charging. The almost $600 "spring clean up" followed then by almost $600 in one month for additional weeding/pruning....I really don't have that big a yard. I used to weed myself (alone) and it would take 3 hours, so I'm not sure why I was charged almost 10 "crew hours" for one of the months. Completely inappropriate. Additional (not in quote) "disposal" charges as well. Maybe some people need weekly mowing, but I don't. Can get twice a month mow and trim for $40/mow and save the other $4000 that they would have ended up charging me over the summer. I don't write reviews often, so this had to be a special kind of bait and switch to get me to spend my valuable time writing this, but I felt others should look very closely at their quote and then what they will actually charge you. read more

The enthusiasm they showed during the design process was proof enough that we selected the right company. They designed a great extension to the patio and were even able to match the existing stone which I was told by other companies this would be impossible. After several interviews with other companies, we decided to grant Quiet Village the work for our project. Their obvious concern for our home rather than how much money they would make was what made us decide to go with Quiet Village. We had about 12 very large yews surrounding our back patio that needed removed. I had been putting the process off for several reasons but mainly because I didn't think it could be done on a weekday without us being home. Quiet Village made the process so painless and pleasant, I wish I had done it sooner. I left for work in the morning and came home to a beautiful back yard, yew free! Instructions for care and what had been done was left in a bag on our front door. From start to finish, our experience was without a doubt, wonderful. I filled out the detailed online form on the Quiet Village website about what could have been a lucrative project for the company. Rico the Landscape Designer from Quiet Village called and we decided it best to meet in person. Rico scheduled to meet me on 5/31 which of course was Memorial Day. I immediately asked her if she knew this was Memorial Day and she scheduled to meet anyway. This was a plus for me as I would be home from work so I went with it. Well - she was a no show and did not return my messages that day nor later. I decided that I should let Quiet Village know my experience and called them on 6/10 and left a message. Well low and behold they gave the message back to Rico who just called me back on 6/11 and started straight away just recapping some details for the proposed job I had submitted back online. When I asked her if she was going to address the missed meeting, only then she said she left me a message that that was Memorial Day. Not true at all. I was so disappointed with the quality of the work! And in retrospect, it was ridiculously expensive, given what I asked them to do. They were to cut out a bed to complement the existing one on the other side of the patio. That was the only thing that was satisfactory. The plants were arranged in such a bizarre and haphazard fashion that I called and complained. The person who had given me the original proposal - Jodie - was not there at the time of the original planting (I thought that was strange). She told me that they were having some "issues" with the people who had come out to plant. She did come out and re-arrange the plants, but it was still blah and unimaginative. They were also supposed to winterize my existing garden. They did next to nothing, and I ended up having to contact another company. I can't believe that they are still in business! They did an outstanding job - we are thrilled with the final product and are already taking full advantage of our beautiful patio. The owner was great to work with. He was very attentive and as homeowners who don't know much about landscaping, he offered perfect suggestions for our backyard. The team that actually did the work was also great. They were very nice, they respected our property and they went above and beyond in terms of service and making sure we were happy with what they were doing. I wanted "something" done to my front yard but really wasn't sure what. Something pretty but low maintenance. I interviewed 3 companies, including Quiet Village. The first company was nice to work with but when they showed me their designs - I just wasn't wowed. The second company was a pain from the beginning so I ultimately didn't even consider their design. Then there was Quiet Village. Rebecca scheduled a visit to my house. We walked around to see the space and then chatted for a while. I had some pictures of "pretty" I found on Pintrest to give her an idea of what I liked and she asked me some follow up questions as well. We talked it through and when I agreed that I wanted her to draw me up a design plan, she was very clear that it was a $100 fee for that. That makes sense! A plan is a valuable thing to have even if the work isn't done, it takes a lot of time to complete and it just isn't fair for a customer to ask for all of that without any commitment. They $100 is applied to your work if you decide to go ahead with it. It took a couple weeks for Rebecca to get back to me - by the far the longest amount of time. But when she did.... WOW! I was just blown away at how much she had pulled my fairytale image out of my head and put it in my yard. She had all the right (low maintenance!) plants in the right colors, paying attention to the nice smells that I like. She also incorporated a lot of what I had already to try and stay within budget. She did a presentation with me and while the other company could talk about how the chosen plants fit within my general style (cottage garden), Rebecca could talk specifically about how that plant was chosen exactly for me because of everything I had said during the presentation. It wasn't a template that had been tweaked for me - it was my very own plan, fully customized. The work itself was interesting! I'd have liked to have had more contact where they actually scheduled the people to be there but instead, the company chose the day and they showed up to do the work and my presence wasn't needed. That's fine, I don't need to supervise, but I did need to order watering equipment and such so some planning was needed. But again... WOW! the work. Everything was done perfectly. All the little plants started thriving immediately. The beds looked immaculate. There was two beds already in place; they were modifying one and adding a third. I was a little worried about that because the bed in the middle that they were not going to work on was going to stick out like a sore thumb. But no! They went through that bed too and even though there was no plant work done there, they cleaned it up and remulched it so that it looked just like the rest. There was 1 type of plant that they were missing in the first go around so when a few things popped up in the meantime (some lillies that were not properly removed, a few areas where the mulch was too thin) they kept notes and when they came back to finish the job, also touched up on those areas as well. All and all - definitely my new go to landscaping company! I would have liked just a touch more communication but the work they did, at the price that they came in at, cannot be beat! read more

We are new residents of St. Louis and needed to find a landscaping company to use for various projects both now and in the future. We hired Quiet Village Landscaping after interviewing 4 other landscaping companies and are so happy we did the research and spent the time talking and listening to all those professionals. From the office staff to the yard crews, this company has amazing employees who truly care about their work and about your property. Rebecca, the designer, spent copious amounts of time with us not only discussing her suggestions but actually listening to what we wanted. She showed us a plan and explained all the wheres and whys of the plant choices, using a power point to illustrate the plants and their appearance in various seasons. Our beds needed amending; some plants were planted in the wrong places, and some plants were either dead or not the variety we desired. Rebecca worked with us to get us native plants that would work in our specific situation. And the crew was truly superb! They transplanted many plants to new beds and they worked around what was left in the beds and really took care of our existing plants. They were careful, considerate and deliberate in their actions, and they worked hard! Our yard does not have the best soil conditions and they encountered huge rocks and lots of clay. Yet they were so careful when they edged and dug and they also took the time to investigate any problems they encountered. Our work was done during all the flooding in Spring 2017 and Quiet Village truly worked within the framework of the weather and still managed to complete our job in good time. On top of all that they cleaned up our entire yard when they were done each day. We are already planning our project for the Fall of 2017. Quiet Village has earned a customer for life! I had high hopes that the finished product would be as beautiful as the landscape design for my front yard that Rebecca presented to me late last summer. But in early November of 2014 when the initial install took place I was shocked that the puny and sparely placed plants in my beds were primarily one gallon golden arborvitae and green spindly shrubs neither of which were suitable for prestigious homes in my area. For that matter eight homes and 35 years ago the plants in the yard of my first and very modest home were healthy boxwoods, yews and rhododendrons of substantially larger size! I was assured by Rebecca that many more plants would be arriving soon with several more in the Spring. The only transformation that Spring's arrival brought to my newly landscaped beds were a bevy of dead or dying arborvitae and a hydrangea or two. The unsightly appearance of my front yard was embarrassing to me when I had visitors. But as I'm an optimist by nature I waited for the additional plants to arrive that had been shown on the landscape design ... Hoping that through my patience and the passage of time that the plants would become lush and large . By June my yard plants were supplemented by more ugly Arborvitae and a few scraggly perennials which were planted by a nice young man at Quiet Village. Despite my watering, fertilizing and tender care for the plants I finally recognized that the beds would remain only as desirable as red headed step children if I didn't tweak them. Six tons of designer river rock, a gorgeous Japanese maple and several exotic pines and attractive larger plants later ( all purchased and installed by a rival nursery) it has become apparent that until 14 of the Quiet Village unsightly shrubs and sundry perennials are eradicated from the beds that my front yard's appearance will not be acceptable. I came to the above conclusion after absorbing a few comments from the plant installer today. For example : I've never seen these selections of plants installed before... I didn't even know that quality nurseries had them in their inventory ... They should have never used any size less than 3 gallons here ... these perennials are for planting in full sun not the shade." I didn't disclose the Quiet Village Identity to him despite his curiosity. But I heeded his advice to post this review. The angst and expense I've experienced seems to merit it. read more

Beyond wasted time and effort the meeting with Quiet Village Landscaping rep. was pleasant experience. I chose Quiet Village because of the raving reviews on here. However, I am greatly disappointed in the company and service. Prior to the job being done, we had a lot of rain - and I noticed that it was causing my yard to pool water. Slopes in the yard that would cause this were never mentioned when Dennis came to give an estimate. I told him that I noticed this, and asked that the land be graded to allow proper drainage during heavy/consistent rains. He assured me that it would be done. I left a note for the crew stating this as well, because a few crew members came out for a different project a few days prior and Dennis never told them what needed to be done; so I knew there was a disconnect of information between him and the crew. After the project was done, I noticed that after the sprinklers being on for only 6 minutes, the yard was pooling water. It obviously had not been sufficiently graded to prevent this, as we had agreed would be done. In addition, a pipe in the yard had been broken. Dennis came back out to look at the problem... and I never heard from him about his findings/thoughts on the issues. I called the office, and a crew member came out. He confirmed that the land was not graded and pointed out several times that the water was pooling (which I obviously knew). After several emails with Dennis, he refuses to stand by his word (he actually told me that there may be more work to be done, like putting in drains, or that they could come grade it but there may be additional cost... and also inferred that *I* should've told him the land was sloping when he came to give an estimate... I'm not a landscaper, nor do I have experience of any kind in the field, so I assumed things like that were his job to divulge, what a concept!) So, I'm done. All I wanted was for the crew to come out and fix the land so that the job would be what was agreed upon; I let the broken pipe issue go - but with the resistance to make this right and stand behind the project, and with being condescended by Dennis, I've chosen to pay the bill for the job done wrong and be done with this company. read more
