I met Melissa Hannebrink with Quietech Associates on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 when she gave a talk at the Community Church in Nevada City. Quietech Associates provide computer technical support, training, and repair to businesses and home users, as well as a full-service retail & repair shop. Melissa talked about understanding and overcoming computer fear and about scams. I found her to be a very good speaker with an engaging style. After her presentation I talked to Melissa about a problem I had been dealing with for months. Some of my emails being rejected because they were flagged as spam. Even though less than 10% of my emails were rejected, it became quite a nuisance. Over a period of six weeks I had talked to at least five people looking for help. In each case I received conflicting information and did not get closer to solving the problem. When I talked to Melissa I felt, for the first time, like I found someone who really knew what she was talking about. Even though I have a PhD in engineering, I do not have a good understanding of DNS, SPF records, DMARC settings, DKIM records, etc. Over the past few weeks I have learned that even some people that provide computer services do not know as much as they should. I had an appointment with Melissa on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. We spent about 15 minutes on the phone. By that time Melissa had all the required information and she started working on solving the problem. The problem was solved later that day. Melissa moved my DNS from our domain host to our domain registrar and fixed the DMARC record. Since then I have not encountered a single problem with my outgoing emails. Dale is the GOAT!! I had 2 MacBook Pros and an iPhone 13 pro all stop working within less than 24 hours (it was mind boggling to say the least) and I had a big design review coming up the next day. In a panic, I bought a new Apple iMac as a backup plan while I got the two MBP's fixed. I called Quietech and they had me drop off the computers (super easy process) that day. They called me the next day saying the computers were ready to be picked up. When I arrived I wanted to know what had happened to my devices since the situation was so bizarre. Not only did Dale sit with me to help me workout what was going on with both the computers, he also walked me through the potential issues and stats on each machine so I could understand the best way to proceed. He saved me a few hundred dollars in the process and that could even be considered significantly more since he told me the new iMac I had just bought wouldn't have enough memory to conduct the design work I do. He said not to open the box and to return it and get the correct specs I needed (after doing some more research, I realize this change was CRUCIAL for my business), so I am now returning it for the correct iMac computer, and I have 2 working MBP's again in the mean time to hold me over. I am not all that tech-savvy, and I am sure many can relate to situations like these - whether its with computers or visiting the doctor - where you feel like they are speaking another language and you just nod your head and hope you are being taken care of. I cant stress enough how nice it felt to have Dale sit with me, help me understand, and trouble shoot with me the issues I was having with all my tech. The professionals at Quietech are top notch! Our office was having problems with three of our computers, two PC's and a Mac. The PC's (one is brand new) were running very, very slow. Even after we had them worked on by another company! We were referred to Quietch and we were not disappointed. My problem was that I suddenly couldn't use my wifi. I have never had a decent reception due to where I live, but now I couldn't get on to the little reception I used to have. The hard drive on my laptop went kaput. I made an appointment for 10:45 and Melissa (the owner) checked me in. She was efficient and pleasant. At 2:00 p.m. the same day I was called and told that my laptop was ready to pick up. All the files and programs had been transferred, in addition to a new hard drive. I was amazed that the work was completed so quickly. One of my friends was having a poor experience with another computer repair business in Grass Valley. Her computer had been there for 2 weeks, and day after day she was told it would only be 2 more days. I have been using Quietech for my hardware and software issues for a long time. Melissa and the staff are always responsive, friendly, and willing to explain what they are doing and why. They are expert in a wide range of issues, but when something is outside their knowledge they always let me know. Just yesterday a tech came to attempt to solve an email "spoofing" problem for the Hostmonster account for my business. They problem was investigated, a 'fix' applied and I was given a clear explanation what to look for to make sure the problem is solved. Then I switched gears and asked him to look at my wife's Surface Pro which was not charging the battery, only running when plugged in.
