This was the first time in home ownership to have anything like this happen, but our entire walk-out basement was flooded and our drop ceiling had collapsed. I did an internet search and found Servpro to help with the clean up. I had no idea what to expect, I had no idea there were companies like this that are available 24-hours a day to respond to disasters like this, but thankfully, they responded within the hour with a full crew, cleaning up our house, and assessing the damage and helping us with what needed to be removed and what they could salvage. From the first call, they helped walk me through filing an insurance claim and they arranged many things like people to box up our belongings and a dumpster and things that I was too overwhelmed to deal with. Because of the scope of our disaster, the owner of the company, came to our house and he was very understanding and gave us ways to be in touch and always responded promptly any time we reached out to him. I never felt like anyone was too busy to talk to us and help explain what was going on. Everything was transparent, everyone was honest and compassionate and professional. I can't say enough nice things about this branch of the company, because they went above and beyond, including cleaning our house for us to move back in and providing air purifiers for my son who has bad asthma and dust allergies. As bad as this situation has been, they made it easier to get through and we are very grateful for their services and attention to us as people and to our house.

They strung me along for an additional 5 days of equipment use & ran my bill up $500 more dollars. My electric bill went through the roof, on top of renting all of the ServPro equipment for a week. Bottom line: if you use Servpro, ask for a detailed written estimate first, and brace yourself for charges that might surprise you. Transparency matters, especially during emergencies. Time going by and by and we stopped getting phone calls or updates on the project. Finally received an email randomly that they're still working on an estimate for rebuild. This was 10/29/24. My husband and I tried again and again sending emails, phone calls, texts to the supervisor and contractor. Nothing. The secretary didn't even answer. I finally reached out via email(see pictures) with the advice of some more experienced family and this company just dropped us no questions asked. Our insurance adjuster and I had a conversation immediately following this email and he said the company had not been in touch with them since about September and hadn't gotten ANY approval to tear up our house this way. The adjuster said it may have been fine to do so AFTER approval but now are working towards covering this damage. The adjuster spoke to the Servpro supervisor himself and was basically told to pound sand and if they don't get paid the bill was being sent to me and my husband. It took a few hours for the crew to be available, but they did arrive with the tools needed to mitigate the immediate mess and leave 10 industrial fans and 2 dehumidifiers to attempt drying until they'd return during normal business hours. I appreciated that they called their manager to check before removing baseboards to look for water damage. On Tuesday, Servpro's program manager Julius Rivera visited for a few hours while our insurance adjuster was onsite. It was helpful for them to review the damage together and formulate a plan for demolition. Julius estimated 7-8 business days and that was accurate until the scope expanded a little bit as they progressed. We were happy with Julius's response to our questions and he even took our call on his day off. The crew spent just over two weeks doing demolition in our home. Crew chief Eddie Smith was good at communicating plans and updates with us each day. He also has a background in construction and was able to suggest some restoration contractors. He shared his personal experience with a similar situation and we appreciated his insight. Arcadio and the rest of the crew were friendly and considerate with their work. As they packed and moved our items out of the workspace, they labeled everything and took care to make it easier for us when it's time to put things back. They moved at a good pace and cleaned up at the end of each day. When needed, they called in an expert contractor outside Servpro to remove kitchen countertops without damaging them. A few minor things came up along the way but nothing that was surprising in this scope of a project, and they handled everything appropriately. When we first called them for emergency services, we didn't know we'd be spending the next 2+ weeks with them in our home. I'm happy to say it was a positive experience given the circumstances and I'd recommend them to others.

They then drug out providing a bloated quotation for remediation another week (4/14 - 4/23) at which point I was fed up. Their bloated quotation of $11,282 was twice as much as the insurance estimate (which I discovered was spot on!). I was unable to use my unit for a month.

Although the asbestos test is required in MA, SERVPRO contracted asbestos test was at the expensive side (~$1300). The overall cost was ~11K (for a total area of 400-450 square feet).
