When I arrived, I saw that the Union Pacific Railroad had fenced and locked the gate to the road you used to use to get to the spot. Just after the fence was a dirt road leading to where I wanted to go. I went off road, realized the ground was soft, but I was able to get up 2/3 of the hill before my car wouldn't go any further. It was like being in the snow back in New York. I backed down the hill expecting to just drive away and foprget this outking. However, that idea was abandoned when my car got stuck in very soft and deep desert sand and some dead creosote bushes had stopped by backward progress. Here I am, stuck about 5 miles from a truck stop and I had no water (some desert rat I am)! After wondering what to do, I finally called the non=-emergency 311 number. I explained by predicament and asked if they could advise me what to do. This was the North Las Vegas police department. They decided it would be best to talk top Las Vegas Metro Police and they transferred me. Metro decided it was best to transfer the call to the Nevada Highway Patrol given I was in them middle of nowhere. After talking to NHP for a short ime, the call was cut off. Using Yelp, I eventually got connected with a towing service out of North Las Vegas (Elite Towing). They knew my general location and what I needed. In about 3/4 of an hour, I saw the flatbed arrive. I was going to be extricated from the mess I had gotten myself in. The driver came over and started up the hill and would pull the front out. When he realized the softness of the sand, he backed down and decided to pull the car from the back end. He attached the winch cables and I was told to turn the wheel when the car was leaving the sand and getting onto the packed gravel road, and it worked just fine! I was free. The driver, a very pleasant young man, disconnected the cables and I was free to go. I made no attempts to get to the site. I had learned my lesson. After a quick turn around, I was headed back to Las Vegas. Many thanks to Elite Towing for their response which was timely given where I was. I also decided that I'd rent a four wheel drive when I go back. (some people never learn)! I knew I shouldn't have traded my 4x4 xTerra. But I lknow if I'm in range where I can get help, Elite will be there to rescue the jerk who got himself stuck in the desert.

First, I called the number provided and nobody answered. No biggie, I left a message on the obvious Google Voice system, it's been 48 hours and I'm still waiting for that call to be answered so I'm guessing nobody monitors that number. After I called, I took the time to fill out a detailed "request a quote" form and provided exceptional information to the respondant to save them time and effort if possible. I did receive follow up message where I described my issue in depth, I provided my availability and my general location and was told that I would be notified of appointment availability. Long story short, 18 hours of silence from the company led me to take my vehicle to a local shop and get my vehicle serviced. Almost 48 hours after requesting a quote I STILL haven't been offered an appointment. I guess it's probably a good thing that I'm not stranded beside the road waiting, I'd probably be carjacked by now. Not saying the dude doesn't do good work, but you must need to be special to get respect of an appointment or at least enough courtesy to decline the work because you don't have time.

Veteran's Road Service really came through for me and my new (to me) whip. I wish I could give them…read more100 stars! This is going to be a detailed and lengthy review. I recently purchased an expensive high performance vehicle. The first night I took my new whip out, I got a flat tire. I immediately parked my vehicle at the nearest gas station to inspect the damage to my tire. This was around 2300 hours, late at night. I found Veterans Road Service during a Google search. I called Veterans Road Service and explained my situation to Ander, the owner of the company. Ander gave me an estimated time of arrival and was at my location within the ETA he gave me. Ander removed the tire, inspected it, and decided he had to take it to a 24 hour tire shop to get it fixed safely. I told Ander okay, and I waited for him to return. Approximately 30 minutes later, I received a call from Ander with some bad news. Ander had taken my tire to three different 24 hour tire shops, who all refused to patch my tire up due to safety and liability reasons. The tire shops saw the slit in my tire and didn't even bother to further inspect the damage before deciding it was unfixable. I told Ander I had an appointment to get my vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic the following day. It was incredibly important for me to make it to that appointment because I was only given a five day return window by the dealership I purchased my vehicle at. I did not want to keep my new whip if it was not found to be in excellent condition during the vehicle inspection. So there I was, concerned I would have to call a tow truck and possibly miss my vehicle inspection appointment. Ander returned to my location shortly after. He was aware of my situation and told me he had an idea to save me from waiting several hours on a Friday night for a tow truck to arrive. Plus, tow trucks are expensive! Ander again inspected the damage to my tire and removed a blade that was embedded in it. He dug a little deeper and concluded that he could apply a plug to the damaged area which would allow me to drive home safely. He assured me the plug would last long enough to get me home, and it could possibly last even longer. I gave Ander the okay and I watched as he applied the plug to the damaged area caused by the embedded blade. Ander double checked his work and made sure there was no leaking air before mounting the tire back onto my vehicle. Once the tire was securely mounted and my car was off the jack, Ander again checked his work to make sure there was no leaking air. Ander assured me he was confident his work would last long enough to get me home safely. He advised me to drive home at a reasonable speed and wished me luck with my new business that I told him about. I also found out through our conversation that Ander was a military veteran and had served our country and his community for years. I thanked Ander for his work, paid for the service, drove my car home, and arrived safely. The following morning, I inspected my tire and found that Ander's work had in fact held up. I was able to make it to my inspection appointment, and my vehicle passed the inspection with flying colors. I was ecstatic! Ander messaged me that day to check up on me and make sure the work he performed on my tire lasted me through the night. Now that's customer service! Ander's work even held up an extra two days until the dealership could order a new tire and replace my damaged one. Ander's level of service is hard to come by, especially in the Roadside Service industry. He was able to make a shitty situation not so shitty for me, and I am confident enough to recommend his service to anyone I know. You can be assured that if you are ever in need of roadside assistance, Veterans Road Service will do the best they can to service your needs and make sure you get home safely. Thank you again Ander and Veterans Road Service! God bless...
