She was so kind and helped me find the exact pair of earrings I'd been wanting - something silver and a little more modern but still using the beautiful native turquoise. You might be surprised to meet a Norwegian-run business like this in NM, but after all her years in the States and running this business, she's a pro and unbelievably kind and helpful. They even fed me some great French pastry on one occasion. I have seen many people come and go and I was in the store when two ladies took extra brochures because they needed something to write on. The owner was very nice about it but said please take one and write on that if you need to but printing colored brochures is very expensive and if it's scratch paper you are looking for I have a paper bag you can write on. The lady said something I couldn't quite hear but left quite abruptly. I didn't think the owner was being rude. Some folks are just hard to please I guess. Anyway, I've bought some of their shoes and cushions. The items they sell are not inexpensive but it's like Mom used to say, "you get what you pay for". Long story short some of these items are years old now and have been left out in the weather (sun and rain) and they haven't faded or fallen apart. I can't say the same for the Chinese items I've purchased at Wal-Mart. I always try to support our local businesses first and use Wal-Mart as a last resort. Anyway I love this unique one-of-a-kind business. They have things that you won't find anywhere else.

I was reviewing the online listing, trying to gather pertinent info to share with the client - ie cost, colors, availability, shipping time in transit so they could make an informed decision. The shipping time wasn't listed online but I saw they had a customer service chat function. I sent my question on shipping time and waited a minute for someone to connect. They sent "?????" and "are you there?" right when they connected. Weird. I wrote back hello and they said they needed to know what color to answer. I shared the potential color. They said it was in stock, goes out within week of the order, and ships fedex. I asked how long it would be expected to take in transit. (This was my question initially). They said they don't make any promises. I said is there an estimation... 2 weeks, 5 months, roughly what should we plan for? They then wrote "why would you say that when I just said one week?" But as you recall, I was told after ordering, they ship out within one week. They never said the timing in transit. Then they disconnected. I was dumbfounded! Needless to say I absolutely will not recommend my client orders from Bon Marche. Hope this customer service person has the day they deserve.

Later while looking up yarn stores on Yelp I found the listing for Miriam's Well and saw the location was right where that sign was, so I called to ask about parking. Miriam answered and told me where to park (the first driveway past the sign while going clockwise on PdP, you have to go down the alley to the end then turn right and then you'll find her shop and a couple places to park in front of it. She has a great little yarn shop with supplies for weavers as well as knitters and crocheters. Miriam is a very nice lady with a great selection of yarns - standards like Berroco, Cascade, Plymouth, Noro as well as a lot of more hard-to-find and more local options as well. Some really gorgeous stuff! She has many sample garments prepared, I'm not sure if they were for sale but there were so many I suspect that some of them are. I myself came out of there with a skein of Great Adirondack sock yarn and a skein of Plymouth Yarns "Happy Feet". Prices were pretty standard compared to other similar shops, she did have a couple specials as well. I will be sure to visit every year when I'm in town!

Puts a smile on your face just walking through the door! Kristy was working in the store this evening, and what a pleasure to deal with. We chatted about all kinds of things, and she hunted for 15 minutes to find a companion bunny for the one we bought (Easter, not Christmas! LOL). She even called to the owner to see if an extra one might be stashed somewhere that she didn't know about! She kindly wrapped several items we were carrying (not from the store) so it would be easier for us to carry. What a fun 30 minutes! We'll definitely follow-up with the store to get a 2nd bunny!
