This review is long overdue. I love this place, and I am so happy they are expanding. I have used the long arm services at least a dozen times, and I am always so impressed by their work. They are always helpful, kind and fun. I have witnessed so much enthusiasm, and inclusion for quilters that may not fit an outdated stereotype of quilters. 10/10 would recommend! There is always someone to help you and the fabric selection is great. They have a meeting-type room where a bunch of quilters were gathered. Also had Routine maintenance done on my Janome. Less than $100. Done within reasonable time and done well. read more

For all the quilters, you definitely want to check this store. I have been collecting nice designed fabrics in the past couple months in Chicago suburbs. I'd say this one is the best one by far. Their collection, which I care most about, is undoubtedly amazing. Excellent in variety, display, and quality. Their staff is friendly and very helpful. The owner of the store is very nice and professional - it explains why the management and the holistic presentation of the store is just satisfying. Now, if I were only a quilter . . . This place is sooooooooooooo new, it does not even have a sign yet and the new paint smell is faintly noticeable. I was warmly greeted upon entering and the person could have been speaking a foreign language, but it would probably make perfect sense to someone who quilts. The space is open and airy, has a classroom, and some big ass machine they were very proud to "have on sight". However, it was the selection of fabrics that made me smile. They were arranged by color, holiday, theme, sport, baby, but the Australian themed ones were the best. They will be offering classes soon. Now, if they only sold patience, I might give it a try :) LOL read more

Good place for fabric and quilting, not so good for repairs. The tech said my wife's Bernina 930 was not repairable, due to Bernina no longer supporting that machine. And then they charged me $35 to tell me. Turns out I found the Bernina part with little problem from another sewing shop and fixed it myself. All the they wanted is to sell me a new machine. read more

I've been shopping a Quilters Quest for a few years now. Always like the store. They went above and beyond this time. I was have a hard time with the quilting of a t-shirt quilt. I had given up and went in to ask them to finish the quilting. They were honest and said even with the small amount to be quilted it would be very expensive. I was then offered to sit in their classroom with a heavier duty machine and finish my quilt. All I had to do was buy the tread. It saved they day I was able to complete in a half hour what would have taken me days on my machine (I have a great machine but t-shirt quilts are just so heavy). I couldn't have been more appreciative. They Will have my repeat business. read more

I took in three old quilts to get appraised and to acquire more information on them. I was so impressed by the knowledge of quilts and the love for them by all the staff. I only had the quilt tops so all of them need to be finished off. Since they only do machine quilting, I was impressed that Chris suggested I have one of them hand quilted because of the age of the quilt. I decided to have one of the quilts completed by the Quilters Quest. It will be so exciting when it is completed and I can actually use the quilt versus just storing it in a box. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. I came to Quilter's Quest via their beginning quilting class, where it quickly became apparent that I was in way over my head. The store's owner and her staff have gone waaaay above and beyond the call to walk me through making my first quilt. And what started out as an exercise in frustration has turned in to a truly lovely, immensely gratifying creative process. Spending a few hours a week in the shop working on my quilt-to-be, I've noticed that to a person, the staff is unstintingly helpful and friendly to every single customer that walks through the door. They are patient, and immensely knowledgeable about every aspect of quilting, from fabric selection to piecing to finishing. I've been working primarily with Jacqueline Harris, and she is fabulous. She's inarguably an artist. She''s also an exceptional teacher. It's rare that those two traits show up in the same person and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have the chance to learn from her. In addition to knowing their business when it comes to quilting, the staff also has an encyclopedic knowledge of sewing machines, from featherweights to long arms. There's a huge selection of machines in the shop, and as a beginner I found the selection overwhelming. (And those long arms - I Can't Even. They're like space ships.). Anyway, rather than steer me toward to most expensive Bernina in the place and sending me on my way (which is what happened elsewhere, the last time I tried to buy sewing machine), Quilters Quest has let me actually work on their machines right in the shop (Not the long arms. As the kids would say, you need, like, dope mad skillz to operate those.) So after a few weeks of putting together a quilt top on their machines, I've now got a pretty good idea of what I need to buy for myself. At any rate, short of some unforeseen catastrophe, it would seem that I will actually have a finished quilt (a smallish, imperfect one, but a quilt nonetheless) in time for Christmas gift-giving. And in the new year, I plan on taking some more classes. Speaking of which: In my experience, you need basic sewing skills to get the most out of the beginning quilters' class. You will also need lots of time to work on your project outside of the alloted class time. In the "From the Start" class I took, there was never more than 10 minutes or so of actual in-class sewing/cutting/quilt construction time. The rest of the two-hour sessions were lectures which, while informative, I found difficult to apply to real-life quilting once I got home. PS The fabric selection is AMAZEBALLS. Themed, prints, solids, batiks - everything from classic florals to saucy prints of dancing brassieres. You can browse the selection on their website, which is useful but also potentially a major isssue if you tend to procrastinate. I'm a fairly new quilter, long time sewer (is that a word?) and walked into QQ just to see what it was all about. I was immediately greeted by a member of their super friendly staff who gave me a tour of the store. They answered my questions, recommended classes, and even offered to provide some pointers on the things I'm struggling with in my quest to teach myself to quilt. They made me feel like a long time customer and a friend. I'm looking forward to visiting again and again. read more

I predict nothing but great things for this store. I had heard that another quilt store had just opened and I had to go check it out. YEA, !!! Another Bernina Shop. As is SO Important in this type of business, other than having a very diverse and growing selection of fabric, is FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF. Everyone that came in the store was greeted and allowed to browse all they wanted, but the staff was there ready to answer questions if you had any. A First in a Quilt store,..... there is A MENS SECTION where the men can sit and watch TV while the women shop. Very diverse fabrics to choose, good batiks, good kids section, AND THEY CARRY ORIENTAL FABRIC !!!!!!! This is a store that I think will always have a good selection of seasonal fabric , they already have Halloween in stock. They do have a section just for quilting, didn't ask about prices but it looked like a computerized Gammill. Rather easy to get to, the Sign has gone up on the outside of the bldg. read more

My daughter was looking for a sewing machine for a Christmas gift. I researched online and noticed they were the closest (and one of the only) Bernina dealers in the area. The people in this Quilters Quest store took such amazing care of her. They brought a more appropriate Janome machine out and set it up to show her how it worked. They even let her sew for over an hour. They showed her all of the decorative stitches and even let her pick out fabric to bring home to her brother. Mind you, my daughter is only 6! The owners and staff at this store have infinite patience and are happy to share their knowledge and love for sewing with anyone, even little girls. Thanks to everyone for making it a MERRY CHRISTMAS. And, sometimes they have a HUGE Bernese Mountain Dog that walks around and greets everyone. read more

I love modern quilting and they carry a wide selection of modern fabric designers and there is a huge selection of solid fabrics. You will find all sorts of goodies, and the best part is they have fantastic customer service! I've always been intimidated about longarm quilting, but they invited us to get a closer look while a king size quilt was being quilted. read more

What a wonderful new quilt store! There is a great selection of fabric, with new bolts coming in everyday. I am always greeted warmly by Deborah, Celeste, Nancy or one of the other friendly staff who are so helpful. The space is bright & cheerful. Bob, who is the long-arm quilter, gives you a huge selection of patterns from which to pick for machine quilting, does a terrific job and has it done on the date promised. There is a big selection of classes held in a sunny classroom for quilters or wanna be quilters. Because of Quilters Quest's location at I-355 and 75th Street in Woodridge, the store is very easy to get to. Quilters Quest is definitely my go-to quilt store!! read more

This is my favorite quilt shop ever. They have GREAT service. Everyone is friendly. I have had two quilts quilted on their longarms. Both have been gorgeous. They do their utmost to meet time constraints on the machine quilting projects. I love love love their fabric selection. They have new and interesting fabrics every time I go into the shop. Whenever I am working on a new project, there is someone there to offer assistance with fabric selection, if I want it, without being pushy. Helping customers with creative projects is a real art and they have that down pat at Quilters Quest. I left something I purchased in the store once and the owner chased my car down in the parking lot to give it to me. Great products, fantastic service and a beautiful, clean space. Our area is blessed with very good quilt stores, Quilters Quest is only 4 miles from my house. I must dig out the fabric I bought in Australia and take it with me so I can add to that stash. Life is good. I've had some of this fabric since 2005 and American lines just haven't done it for me. Thanks Deb and Bob. My plan was to go there for mental therapy this summer but summer was all about travel and family crisis abound. Now the plan is check the stash (which is extensive) and shop for those fabrics that will tweak my future quilts. This store is full of every and anything a quilter could hope for. I l love the class room its two walls of windows, just right for old eyes and checking out colors in natural lighting, important thing for old eyes. Deb's staff is great. I've run a long-arm for over 20 years, mine has no bells or whistles, so watching a statler operate is fun. Its nice for me so when I want to talk long arm I don't have to wait for my other long-arm friends to return from work, now I will just drive over and visit with Bob. Life is GOOD.
