I will say that I was referred to Leo's by many neighbors & relatives. Every single person that I spoke to was happy with the craftsmanship , pricing , materials , time frame and ethics and attitude of every person that was part of the Leo upholstery experience . For myself: it began with Frank G. I called him. He is so pleasant & knowledgeable that one knows " This is the person that will create a fantastic piece of furniture for me". I emailed Frank a photo of my couch & chair . Scout & I went in to see him. This store is very conveniently located on the Chicago / Park Ridge Illinois border . There is parking in front and back. If you love fabric, you have arrived in Wonderland! You can stay all day !!There is a huge selection of both in- store as well as special order fabric and leather available to you. In addition, there are glorious stains in many colors available for wood. I choose a dark pecan. Now to material ... I chose fabric that was durable & available in- store ( very very affordable) . This was for a beautifully structured couch ( well worth preserving) that my brother had given me in 2009. It is 25 years old and was very costly with a wood frame. Scout's beloved easy chair required a new seat . We matched it to a store remnant of navy leather . This saved me a great deal of money and is very durable. It was a perfect match. If you are fortunate enough to have older pieces - save them. It's truly amazing what Leo's can do. Service? From the store to the pickup & delivery ; there was no stone left unturned. Pickup and delivery were on time. Work was done on time. Pieces were wrapped and perfect when reinstalled in apartment. Oh, did I mention Frank G. had a Wheaten and loves our breed as we do! It took me years to get this done but I'm so glad I did . Today we received both pieces . We highly recommend Leo's Upholstery & tell them Scout sent you! I recently took 6 dining room chairs in for reupholstering. I met with Frank, Leo's son. he looked at my chairs, new exactly what make and wood type they were. He asked me if I wanted them completely refinished or just glued and reupholstered? He also added, you can't buy this kind of chair in a store today they're solid mahogany. Although it was more than I wanted to spend, I decided to have them completely restored. My chairs came out absolutely gorgeous. I've had several items reupholstered here at Leo's over the past 20+ years I've lived here in Chicago...always been very happy. Recently I took 3 old (50-60 yrs) chairs onto Leo's...they redid the horse hair cushions and put animal print fabric I had picked out on them....I absolutely love them and have received many compliments on them already. The work was promised by a certain time but was done way ahead of time...which was a nice surprise. It's fun to see something you've had for years get a new make-over! Going so far as locating the fabric we wanted, even though it was discontinued, as well as taking it upon themselves to fix one of the chairs that had a broken seat. Highly recommended. They refurnished my very old leather club chairs. So very patient with me as it took me weeks and many visits to request samples before I could decide. I finally decided on a very reasonably priced leather; they have such a wide selection. They picked up exactly when they said they would, same with return. The refurnished chairs are about a year old now and even with my Labrador mix enjoying them they still look brand new, beautiful job...beautiful chairs. Leo's expertly reupholstered and rebuilt a woodgrain executive office chair that was well worn. Leo's had a beautiful Ralph Lauren leather that matched the Michael's Cherry highlights on the original wood stain. The mechanicals on the pedestal were worn, prior to replacement the height was non adjustable. Frank Giordano, proprieter of the business, worked with me to find a replacement pedestal that was expertly stained to match the original stain and woodgrain. The workmanship at Leo's is top notch and the chair is better than when I originally purchased it. Leo's also picked up and delivered the chair to my residence in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. We are not young, and much of our furniture came from our grandparents. There are pieces more than 100 years old and finer than anything we could have bought, so I have been very careful about who I let repair or refinish them. Leo's has been absolutely reliable, high-quality, and very knowledgeable about how older furniture was made, how the finishes were applied, and what in the modern world will fill the same requirements exactly. I've been really impressed. We've been taking pieces to them one at a time, and even the fellows who came to pick up our dining room table were clearly professionals at moving delicate old things. I am so happy that I found Leo's. They did an amazing job with my teak wood chairs, which needed to be re-glued and re-upholstered. What I loved: everyone was incredibly nice and helpful, the 25 year-old chairs are now gorgeous - like new, they anticipated my needs and made helpful suggestions (all of which I was happy to accept), they communicated with me on a regular basis so I knew exactly what was happening, everything was done on time and the chairs were delivered early!! Folks, we found out about Leo's right here, from the reviews posted on Yelp. Now that our project is done, we cannot overemphasize how happy we are with Leo's, its owner Frank, and all of the skilled craftsman that work there. Absolutely perfect. We had old (but solidly constructed) cornices taken down by Leo's, cut to a more modern shape, and reupholstered with a fabric that Frank led us directly to. They also made two matching pillows with corded edges in a coordinated fabric. Wonderful work, and a delight to work with at all times. When we first went to the store, we had a few minutes to look around before meeting with Frank. What struck me most was all the work going on in the clearly-visible back room of Leo's. I quickly realized that these workmen were craftsmen, not merely assemblers. The place was abuzz with work. I knew they must be doing something right! When the workmen put our cornices with the new fabric back up yesterday, we took a very close look at the work, and again, could not be more delighted. You cannot see a seam, everything lines up the way it should, a 100% perfect job. We highly recommend Leo's! read more

Beautiful work! I had 6 - 1950's kitchen chrome chairs to be recovered and cane bench repaired. I first sent an email with pictures and Frank replied with a quote and details of the work to be performed. Frank was very responsive to all questions and correspondence over email and never tried to upsell or add any additional costs to his quote. I then went to visit him and look at fabric samples and he was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Next I delivered the chairs and he went over everything he was going to do and he explained my options for how the work was to be done. I really appreciated his suggestions and advice. We agreed on the timeline and I placed a deposit. He completed the bench first and the chairs before he promised and communicated status and when they were ready via email. When I arrived at his shop I saw the chairs in the window and was immediately impressed by how nice they turned out. On closer inspection the craftsmanship and quality work was excellent. He explained everything they did again and I could tell he is passionate about his work and it shows. He even saved all the leftover material and included new springs in the seats (at no extra charge). Communication was excellent via email with no surprises and he is very easy to do business with. Oh and the cane bench turned out really nice too! I plan to have a few other pieces done soon. read more

Frank Giordano is a true MASTER of his craft. I bought a really good quality cocktail table for my home 17 years ago. It showed signs of wear but no damage until my puppy decided to chew on the bottom shelf. Frank redid the whole table and it looks BETTER than it did when it was new. Absolutely no evidence it had significant chew marks. I don't know how he did it but I have a brand new table. I am beyond delighted and grateful!! Leo's took my $26 estate sale antique chair and turned it into a work of art! My crusty old chair had great bones but the cushions dated from the 1920s, the springs were sticking out, and the wood was knicked and scratched. I explained I wanted the sad chair to embrace leather and be welcoming instead of repellant. I selected a beautiful leather, antique looking tacks and complementary wood finish, then told him I didn't need the chair until Thanksgiving, giving a 12-week window. He said that was fine because it would be 6 to 8 weeks anyway. Four weeks ahead of schedule, my chair was ready and it's beyond my expectations. Solidly remade, beautifully reupholstered, the chair now shines in our house. The chair looks like it is ready for a show room floor. We can't wait to bring in another chair. read more

I have a couch that I bought at Carsons and the cushions went south in no time and they sent me replacement cushions (that were worse then the original), so I asked my friend if he knows of a upholstery company and he said Leo's and it is close by, so I called and spoke to Frank he was great!! Leo's Upholstery did an amazing job reupholstering an antique chair and I highly recommend their work. They were very responsive and highly knowledgeable as we discussed the project, and they completed the job early, and as quoted. I was particularly impressed as some structural/alignment repairs had to be made to the frame, after I brought in the refinished piece, and Leo's managed these at no additional cost and without damaging the finish. The chair seat , from webbing to coil springs and batting, also had to be entirely re-built. I trusted them with a cherished piece and some very expensive fabric, and couldn't be more pleased with the very high quality of their work, the reasonable cost, and the end result.
