I'm sewing for charity and really don't want to pay quilt store prices, but when this continually happens it make a person rethink their charitable nature. When I order from Hancocks I always get what I ordered ... generally with 1/2" or so to spare! Quit screwing your customers JoAnn!! Measure the way a quilt store does and add a fingers worth of fabric when you cut. I shouldn't have to buy more than I need just to get what I asked for to begin with!!!!

I seen an…read moreadvertisement on Facebook stating that Joanna's was donating fabric and elastic to seamstress' who are making mask to help contain the spread of COVID-19. I sent this information to my sister who is a fashion designer of Moore Divahs_LLC in the Quad Cities of Illinois. As she was in the process of already making masks, so with this promotion she could help the community more. Unfortunately her experience with the new store manager Julia, wasn't a pleasant one. Here is what she encountered... "Julia the manager of the Moline, Illinois store was very rude upon me asking about the advertisement. She had an attitude for no apparent reason with me. Her associates weren't giving out material for the masks. Then lied about being out of material when I was in the store on Saturday, to be originally told they haven't had time to cut it up or give it out. Someone also stated that we could drop masks off at the store. Julia said she would prefer we didn't bring completed mask to the store, and told us to contact Trinity Hospital." As my sister is a frequent customer of this establishment I find it truly unprofessional of Julia who has 25 years of customer experience as a manager, to treat her customers with such little disregard. When all they are trying to do is help the community stay healthy during this time of panic and distress.

Overall, I've brought in dozen of items - once they took about a dozen Wicker boxes and bags and some other items - and six months later I got $20. Recently I brought in brand new and greatly taken care of yard tools. Some of the limb and tree trimmers were even in the box. They're probably $50-$100 new. The next week when I stopped in and noticed they were all gone. I asked for my payout. It was $50. Should have done Facebook market. Either they were pricing in these items obscenely low (although when I look to ship the prices or normal and even high) or fill in the blank yourself. The next week, I took in 2 boxes and a suitcase o clothes... the lady wasn't working and the man took the entire thing, including $100 suitcase that I brought only for transportation, but they said he would take it. I stopped in a week later, and the lady is still not there. The man tells me those weren't the type of clothes they were looking for and they donated that them all to Goodwill but could not provide me the receipt of donation. I could've probably sold it overtime on Poshmark for hundreds of dollars. These people are the worst.

I was appreciative of the willingness to get me connected with a quilter and also their promptness in doing so. Although it appears to be a dusty old store front when looking at the entrance from Main Street, the Quilter's Garden has a large showroom of fabrics and quilting necessities. Come to find out, they do not items in the front window because of the sun and fading of fabrics. There is also a large upstairs area where quilter groups can gather and quilt. The staff was super friendly and eager to help when I was there in person in the store as well. On-line and face-to-face, a friendly welcoming operation.

Special collections of Sock Monkey & Rock Candy fabric. Bernina (only)machine dealer & service. Owner, Peggy Johnston, is also tech so maintenance & repairs are done on site. Part-time staff & full-time owner are very friendly & helpful. Peggy is amazingly creative with garments & quilts. Machine embroidery knowledge is impressive. Shop displays give lots of ideas for big & small projects even in the bathroom! Stocks notions & threads including Isacord, Aurifil, Mettler, serger thread. Some people with limited mobility might find entry steps a little difficult but hand rails are in place. Classroom is in basement. Parking spaces (5-6) behind house with exit/ entry access from alley. Can also park two doors north at Pizza Works if needed.
