A true hidden gem. You have to know about this place or you'll never find it. Recommended by my…read moreson, we stopped in on a bust Friday night and felt as if we were walking into a roadside biker bar. And yet... Our host, server and actually all of the employees were super frinedly upbeat and attentive in spite of the place being jjam packed. There was music playing from a jkebox, but in the main dining room it wasn't too loud. And I was glad that we were seated there becuase we had a great view of the lake. We would have enjoyed the patio, but it was especially chilly for mid-May. Anyway, on to the food and drinks. Cocktails were good and not too sweet, draft beer was fresh. Steamed clams were on point. Salads were crisp and fresh as well as creative. Entrees were amazing and even the fries (which to my mind are usually an afterthought) were excellent. Other than some tight parking and a somewhat loud dining room, it was a great experience. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. The chef is top notch.

Service was friendly and food came out quickly. I had potato pierogies and a beet, arugula and goat cheese salad, both very good. They do have a number of vegetarian choices. They also have breakfast on Sundays. Will definitely be coming back for the lake views in the spring.

Each week they send out an email listing that week's menu. You simply email or call with your order and then pick it up at one of several CNY locations. Once home, the reheating or serving instructions are listed on the boxes. I had a pickup Friday afternoon, and we then ate the dinners and dessert on Saturday for lunch. Everything was well made, tasty and made us feel like we were eating at an upscale restaurant in our own home. Put on some quiet music on Spotify, opened a bottle of wine, and we were set. Great idea that I wish more restaurants would try.

I've had several amazing meals there, but I was especially delighted that they were open on Thanksgiving. We often host big friendsgivings, but it just wasn't happening this year, and we were delighted to have some other options for me, my partner, and my partner's mother. Dinner started off with, always, their cheese souffle spread and house-made crackers. The first course had several choices, including an awesome gnocchi, with perfect texture and potato flavor; meatballs with risotto, also tasty; and lobster chowder, which got raves although I didn't try it. The salad that followed was nice. The main course included tender and juicy turkey, a mind-blowing potato dauphinoise, dressing, a smallish helping of green beans, and further vegetables and sides. We all took home at least another meal's worth of leftovers from the supper, and I'm a hearty eater. The deserts were similarly wonderful, including a very flavorful pumpkin cake and two other options. The Horned Dorset always delivers[*], but I especially appreciated the staff being willing to work on a holiday to provide us with such a lovely dinner. And super-attentive service to a room full of happy diners. [*] And they deliver in another way -- I have not had their to-go meals, but my partner raves about them.
