Received a letter mid June '25 that they were going out of network with all insurances at the end of the month. In August we had an appointment. They said they would bill the insurance. Then 3 more appointments. I never received a bill. My fault for not following up or checking. In Nov, another appointment and still no bill, though I asked at each appointment. They finally sent one around the end of Dec after Fed open season for over $1K when it was too late to switch insurance. The owner did knock it down to 800 which was nice. Before going out of network they billed the insurance ~250 for 3 appointments and ~300 for the fourth. After going out of network, they billed two appts at 350, another at 450 and another close to 500. I'd be surprised if anyone needed the additional imaging the charged, which we did without all these years. The hygienist always did 5 mins of work and said everything looked great. This was way different than experience at past dentists and should have been a clue to leave. She stated that the moon landing was a hoax which I found shocking, ignorant, and offensive since I work in the space industry. The hygienist at the last appointment was more thorough, in keeping with what I was used to, but not exactly gentle. The dentist seemed pretty nice. read more

My family (4 adults) really rely on the wonderful care we receive from Dr. Borak. The staff is wonderful, too, starting with the front desk (Liz), who is super helpful in getting us appointments. The hygenists and assts. are so caring and I always enjoy chatting with them, Sylvia, Olga, etc (even when my mouth is open!). This week I had a smaller dental problem, but still very painful. I had cut the corner of my mouth with dental floss and it got really aggravated over a course of 4 days (headache, swollen face, etc), which made it difficult to open my mouth. I was able to get an appt same day and got prescription cream. Started feeling better immediately and was completely healed within 3-4 days. Thanks so much Dr. Borak! read more

There is a new sheriff in town now! Dr. Borak and her team have taken over this business. As someone who truly is uncomfortable with dentistry, I'm here to tell you that I had a uniquely "patient-centered" experience and I recommend this practice very strongly! I think all dental offices claim to be sensitive to "dental phobics" like me but Dr. Borak really means it. I went in for a procedure and was seated in a massage chair, was handed first-rate noise-attenuating headphones, and offered to select any program I'd like to see and hear on a TV screen during the procedure. Dr. Borak gave me just a little novocaine at first and then when that took effect, added in the rest- this made such a difference! (And yes it takes more time but it helps the patient.) Also, one of the staff told me they purchased new drills to reduce the sound of the awful drilling. I could go on - but I'm here to say give this practice a chance! I'm a fan! read more

I've been with this practice for a number of years, and really appreciate Dr. Borak's patient-first approach (massage chairs, tinted glasses to help with the bright lights while your teeth are being worked on). Today I had a routine cleaning, and I appreciated the way Dr. Borak explained which teeth have "watches" on them and why. Also, SAINT SYLVIA!! It had only been six months since my last cleaning, but I was embarrassed about the staining, especially on my lower front teeth. When Sylvia was done, I didn't even recognize my teeth! First let me say - that Dr. Williams is AWESOME and her staff is also super. I love going there to have my teeth cleaned and to have Dr. Williams examine my teeth. I have been going there for the last 14 almost 15 years and have NEVER had a bad experience! I have read some of the reviews and I am quite shocked! As far as appointments - she's that good and so appointments unless booked in advance are difficult to get. Seeing all the good reviews on Yelp, I've decided to try DDS Kristen. I called the first week of January to get my half annual cleaning appointment. The desk person told me that she doesn't have anything open till mid July. I was surprised but booked the appointment. But as time passed by, I started to question, what if something happens to my teeth and i need some work done. Do I have to wait like 7 months to get treated by Dr. Williams??? I started to look for another dentist right away and found Dr. Garret right around the corner. I got an appointment the next day and i was more than happy. She's even available on Saturday. I guess, good dentist is only good when she/he is available when you need it. I canceled my appointment with Dr. Williams. It was unfortunate, her office is right across from my condo. I never actually went to see Dr. Williams. This is a review of whoever answers the phone at her office. I am new to the area and I had a dental emergency. A filling broke and it was causing me some discomfort. I called Dr. Williams' office because of the great Yelp reviews. I told the receptionist what the problem was and asked for an estimate. She said I would have to come in for a "consultation" which would be $77 plus an x-ray of the tooth which would be $25. Total so far is $102. The receptionist then said after that, I would have to make another appointment to get the filling done "or whatever it is." Nevermind that I have to come in two times to get a regular procedure done but then the receptionist patronizes me about my filling "or whatever it is." No, thank you. I called another dentist's office and got the filling done this morning. (Yeah, lady, it was actually a filling and I actually knew what I was talking about.) It cost me $229 including the x-ray and one hour of my time. read more

I hate the dentist (how original), but I faithfully attend my 6-month check-ups because having no teeth would be worse than having to honor my appointment twice a year. But I've found a keeper. After a rather unpleasant experience at an office near my work, I decided to give Dr. Williams a try because she's close to my home, and the yelp reviews looked great. It took me 4 months to get an appointment, which I took to be a good sign. Upon arrival, I was greeted and promptly taken to a room with Kendrea, the hygienist. She is awesome. The best of the best. And I knew we'd get along just fine when I saw her drinking coffee (isn't that contraband at a dental office?). After x-rays and cleaning, I was taken to another room to meet with Dr. Williams. She, too, was extraordinarily gentle and outgoing. It feels good to be told that I have nice teeth and that I'm doing a good job keeping them healthy. Also, she didn't propose an extensive treatment plan. We're going to watch a few spots, but otherwise I "passed." What a relief! It's worth noting that if you like TVs above your head, the baking soda blast cleaner, the foam fluoride, the red laser that beeps if you have a cavity, or other techy dental tools, you'll be disappointed. This office is clean, bright, and traditional. If you're looking for a fast, friendly, and thorough appointment, call them today (lest you have to wait 4 months to get in like I did!). read more

As a kid, I was very luck to have had the kind of dentist that had the kinds of skills and demeanor to not leave you as a dentist-phobic basket-case. That said, after leaving for school, my dental experiences have been pretty hit or miss. While the dentist I'd found two jobs ago was pretty decent, I'd stopped going when I took a job that had me pretty much constantly on the road for five straight years. Late in 2011, a capped-molar started to become painful. The dentist I'd seen in the early 2000s didn't seem to be in practice, so I went on a search for a new provider. Can't specificallyremember how I came upon Dr. Williams, just know I'd seen good reviews. Those reviews were quite accurate. She's got a very good manner. She's got a very deft touch. She also has a very friendly office staff and friendly, skilled dental techs. Billing is effortless and rounding out her practice's service is a very internet-oriented appointment-management system. End to end, a painless service-offering. In addition to her own practice, she maintains a great list of specialists to refer patients to for advanced procedures. My painful cap required me to get significant advanced dental work done and I had to be referred to both an endodontist and a periodontist to get all the work done. Both referrals were quite skilled practitioners and the three communicated quite well on the treatment plan. Once the cap-replacement and associated dental work was finally done, I had to have seven fillings done (basically, one filling for every year that I'd not regularly seen a dentist). We scheduled a series of sittings for the fillings. Went mostly without incident. The last two fillings had to be done across three visits. My body is both resistant to most local anesthetics and, of the anesthetics that do manage to numb me, my body processes them out of my system very, very quickly. Since the practitioner she'd referred me to for my root canal had managed to do his work pain-free, she consulted with him to find out what he'd used. For the final sitting, she used that anesthetic and everything went well. At this point, I'm happy to be back to the twice-annually regular checkup phase of dentistry. read more

I moved away from the DMV about a year and a half ago but would be remiss not to recommend Dr. Williams' practice to the Yelp community after the great service I received from her office. The staff were always on time (punctuality can be an elusive quality at some doctors' / dentists' offices!), friendly, & professional. I was referred to this practice by a friend and couldn't have been happier with everything. They send email alerts to remind you of your appointments, which is a nice service that they offer. My dentist rocks. Just about everyone in our small non-profit office uses her and they all are very pleased with her service. Their office is Metro accessible (equidistant from Virginia Sq and Ballston) and they are very patient with your questions and concerns. Just about everything I've had done there has been covered by my insurance, but when something wasn't, they were very upfront with the costs and explained to me exactly how everything would work. I also like the computer system they use to track your teeth. I often find myself staring at the computer monitor in the room with digital representations of my teeth and the work that has been done on them while waiting in the chair. Seeing how organized and computerized their records and procedures are always puts me at ease. A potential downside is that there are always a LOT of children in the waiting room, but I usually just stare at the large fish tank and try to ignore them all. Also, the office always calls a few days before your appointment to remind you, but if you miss the call you have to call them back or else your appointment is cancelled. This might be a general dental office rule, but I'm not sure. read more

Wonderful service for the whole family. My wife and I have been visiting Dr. Williams routinely for years and also take our son here. When our son fell and damaged a tooth on a weekend, we called Dr. Williams' answering service; she almost immediately called us back (taking time from a family activity she was at), calmed us down, and told us what we should do. I love my dentist. Truly. How many people can say that? Everyone in the office is super-friendly, including the awesome office staff who always call to remind you of appointments. Since I've been blessed with good teeth, I really only see Dr. Williams a couple of times a year for 5-10 minutes, but when I do, she's kind, knows her stuff, and explains things like the pro she is. She has two hygenists, both of whom are excellent and make teeth-cleaning less of an ordeal than it usually is. Best part? When I first went there several years ago after 4 or so years of not seeing a dentist, they didn't make me feel bad, but rather helped clean things up and get me back on the right track without the guilt. read more

After inconsistent dental visits for the last few years, mostly due to my moving around the country for school and work, I finally made the decision find a new dentist and get a comprehensive checkup. Dr. Williams was very friendly and seemed quite knowledgeable, and I never felt like I was being "sold" on anything, which is a comment I saw about other dentists in the area when I was doing my research. As most dentist offices, they do schedule ~6 months out to get an appointment, but you can get your name added to a cancellation list and they will call you as they have openings. I have been going to this dentist for a few years after not going at all while I was in college. My friends and I were discussing our going to the dentist and it turns out the hygienists in this office don't do what is called gum measuring (I had never had it before). I went to an different dentist under the recommendation of a friend and they did the measuring without my mentioning it. NOW I have periodontal disease. My new hygienist says it could have been caught earlier if Dr. Williams office would have done it. I am going to have periodontal disease for the rest of my life because this office is horrible. I wish there was someone I could tell on them to. This office if full of a bunch of incompetent women. The are very nice and make you feel like you are in good hand but they are clearly out just to make money. I know that my new office is not lying because they were able to explain the entire process of the disease to me. I will never go to Dr. Williams again. DO NOT trust these people here. read more
