'm a recent transplant from the bay area California where I saw five or six dentists over the years, and I have been going top Dr. Hartman at Elite Dental for almost a year now. I was waiting to provide a review until most of my immediate dental concerns were managed, and having been through it, I have to give 5 stars. Elite Dental is a highly professional, organized, well-functioning, and attentive dentistry clinic. If you're looking to save money, or cut corners, this place isn't for you because at ED you pay a premium to have remarkable care and service. From the office cleanliness, organization and timing, down to the dental chairs, and staff - no small detail is spared. In particular, one element that I love is their insane transparency around price. Before any procedure, there are multiple people (staff to dentist) that walk through what the produce entails, what it costs and why. This is a big deal considering today's dental climate where there are stories of dentists who recommend procedures when they aren't needed. I came to Dr. Hartman for a simple cleaning, but over the course of many months came to trust her and her team so much that I was willing to undergo major procedures that I had put off for years. As a child my front tooth was chipped and over the years, new dentists put new artificial wrappers around it, creating a worse situation every year. Dr. Hartman walked me through the risks of continuing that route long term and recommended a crown, while being very honest about the long term advantages, as well as the short term costs. What I loved so much about her and her team was their willingness to recommend the right approach, but not being pushy about it. They balanced empathy for my own concerns with education and knowledge so that I was well informed in my decision making. Last, but not least, Regina - who currently manages the front staff - is also super organized, direct, honest, and empathetic. Its something that I appreciate greatly about Elite Dental - they are willing to take feedback and hear your concerns, and then make things right. I could write another 10 pages about how wonderful Elite Dental and Dr. Hartman are, but I think you should go and find out for yourself. read more

I was very overdue for a cleaning and dental check up after moving to the area and I was very happy to have found Elite Dental. Dr.K, Lizzy, and Jim were all very skilled and caring during my cleaning and fillings. The front desk staff were also welcoming, communicative, and made sure that I got an appointment time that worked with my schedule. After doing a root canal with a specialist that Dr.K referred me to, I was able to get a next day appointment to restore the tooth (filling for the access point). I am very happy with the level of care I received as a patient and highly recommend their practice! read more

I absolutely love this place! Every time I come in for a dental appointment, it is always a pleasant and enjoyable experience. I'll first start with Ms. Liza, the Smile Specialist. Ms. Liza is kind, personable and transparent. I love how she is always willing to answer questions, assist you in booking appointments, calling you to share reminders, etc. When you have interactions like this, it just makes you feel good as a patient. I went in for a routine cleaning today (11-19-24) and I found myself laughing, sharing stories and restaurant recommendations and simply having a good time. The staff are like family and make you feel so comfortable and welcomed. I appreciate the diversity of the staff and the inclusive environment, where everyone is welcomed. I am grateful I found this location and happy with Dr. K. She is the best and makes you feel like "You matter!" I've never experienced anything like this from a dental provider. Elite Dental started to go downhill after Dr. Dudley left , however I did like Dr. Morrow who became my primary after he left (I believe she has also moved on). I had to go to Dr. Hartman on a one off for tooth pain and she completely rubbed me the wrong way (very dismissive). I have since moved from the area and switched practices, but trying to get my records transferred was a nightmare. It's like they didn't want me to leave. I think it took a good 3 months before getting them over to the new spot. Let's not forget they tried to act like I was never a patient and wasn't in the system... read more

Very inexperienced dental hygienist didn't seem to know what she was doing and took twice as long as a cleaning normally does. During x-rays, machine kept malfunctioning (or she didn't know how to use it). Had me worried about just how much radiation I was being subjected to, because she had to keep redoing it. I really hate giving low-star reviews. But Elite Dental has proven for a 3rd consecutive visit to be worthy of a low rating. The pros, because it's not all negative! Friendly staff, and some flexibility to accommodate my request the week prior to shift my appointment time due to work constraints. Scented hand towels for when things get messy--a perk? Read below, then decide. The cons: See my prior reviews. And then add in one more experience with another temp hygienist. How am I lucky enough to have temp hygienists 2 of the 3 times that I visit? Between maternity leave and vacation, I've had only one experience with my assigned hygienist (Sabrina). See prior review. On this visit with my temp, she struggled to use the cleaning equipment. I suggested asking for help. She said the other staff also couldn't figure out how to toggle machine settings. The result? Water and toothpaste all over my face and dress. While I'm fully appreciative of leave and staff shortages that need to be filled, the VERY least the hosting office could do is ensure temps know how to use the equipment and are capable of functioning in the office they are providing coverage for. Or, as I also previously suggested, call your patients and reschedule. The temp hygienist I had was very sweet and gentle, but the office clearly did very little to help her settle in temporarily--and failed patients like me too. **UPDATE** I changed practices and called Elite to send over my records to the new practice. The desk attendant said she would make it happen. Two weeks later...no such luck. Absolute total fail. What a mess of a practice! read more

I love my dentists and the dental staff here but I'm just done with the horrible billing office. They never explain your bill correctly- you can go from having a credit in one visit to then owing $500 in the next. I had a generally more expensive procedure (my dentist was amazing) and they grossly underestimated or incorrectly estimated my bill, didn't send all the procedures to my insurance, and then sent my bill to collections when I was waiting on the insurance review that they forgot to send in the first place. I just ended up paying to be done with it, but they make you feel dumb for asking why your bill almost doubles from what you already paid. Also, I just found out they will only carry the "premium" version my insurance, but I don't feel like they give you the equivalent level of premium service. read more

I used Elite Dental for a complete set of dental implants of my lower teeth. It was painful and very expensive but I believed them when they told me it was necessary. The actual surgery was done by an oral surgeon outside their office but they handled, through their lab, the fabrication and, in their offices, fitting the implants. I thought they did a good job. A year later, the implants worked well and I was satisfied. My upper teeth were in much better shape but they subsequently convinced me that they, too, were all but lost and I would have to spend another $25,000 for a new upper set of implants. I had a horrific and unsightly line of black decay at the gum line across the top front four teeth. Awful. I believed them. Then the pandemic hit and an upper side tooth broke. I called Elite and was told there was nothing that could be done because of Covid-19. Fair enough. I asked whether I would need antibiotics. "No, not necessary", I was told. Luckily, a week later and with a jagged tooth and a fever I came across a Wall St. Journal article about another local dentist, Phil Cai, who had been seeing emergency cases. He agreed to see me. He pulled the broken tooth and said my fever was an indication, along with swelling, that I had an infection that, left untreated, would potentially become very serious. In the same visit I bemoaned the fact that my upper teeth were all but lost. "That's nonsense" he said. "We just have to get rid of that line of decay and your gums will heal." I related my previous advice and diagnoses from Elite Dental and he raised his eyebrows and told me that my upper teeth were strong and that he could not in good conscience--or by any conceivable medical necessity-- justify pulling them for implants. He then spent two hours with the drill and filling compound and when he was done there was no longer any evidence of unsightly decay. With my good insurance the cost to me was several hundred dollars, instead of $25,000 and a year of difficult recovery. I now look back at this experience and realize that for more than a year Elite let me suffer tooth decay and continued serious gum disease so I would buy another set of expensive--and profitable--dental implants from them. They also gave me wrong advice about the need for antibiotics when my tooth broke. Later, my new dentist's staff requested my records and details about the particulars on the implants I received (measurements and manufacturer). It took five different calls and two months to get the records. Elite Dental has very nice offices and a personable staff. I liked them. And, of course I don't fault them for shutting down during the pandemic. But they push expensive procedures and multiple extensive cleanings that are not covered by insurance. Still OK. But to let me suffer both the indignity of a decayed smile and the certainty of worsening gum disease--in order to justify an expensive and painful procedure that delivered a hefty fee to them--is not OK. It's just not. It's hard to believe that they didn't know exactly what was at stake or that a simple and relatively inexpensive solution (that has allowed me to keep my own teeth) was possible. I saw my new dentist (Dr. Cai) today after a year's lockdown. He took some x-rays, cleaned my teeth, did a minor repair to the implant denture (in the office) and declared that my upper teeth, with care, would last the rest of my life. My new dentist saved me. Elite Dental did not. read more

I made a point of waiting over six months after the work had been completed to write this review to ensure I was 100 percent satisfied with my crown given my past horror story (see Lighthouse Dental in Arlington, VA). I was worked on not only by one dentist, but two. I was lucky enough to be under the care of Dr. Dudley and his assistant, also a dentist, Erica through completion of my crown. I found both to be very easy to work with, forthcoming, clear, and concise with the plan of action and what I should expect through the process. I never found myself wondering what was next or if I would have to come back needlessly to have a temporary crown replaced or to have the final product re-adhered to the tooth surface. When Dr. Dudley saw the past work that was done, he was able to quickly identify areas that needed to be fixed immediately in order to create a proper bond for my crown on my furthest back molar. He also identified that the area should have been prepared better including lasering down the gum to give the crown enough surface to grab and create a lasting bond. After seeing many dentists overy time in this area, I can unequivocally say that Dr. Dudley and Erica have been the BEST, bar none. In my experience, the folks at Elite Dental are consummate professionals. Additionally, the office is equipped with all of the technology you would come to expect from a modern dentist office and always has been very clean and inviting. read more

I wish that I could rate them more than 5 stars! After having a horrible experience having my wisdom teeth removed (major bruising, swelling, and pain), I started to grow an intense case of dental anxiety. I hated going to the dentist afterward, and put off any visits for several years; always fearing a similar painful experience was just around the corner. When putting off my next dental visit was no longer an option, a friend of mine recommended Elite. Their positive reviews online validated my friend's suggestion, so I steeled myself and made a consultation appointment. Upon entering Elite's building, I was greeted by friendly faces, and an aroma of fresh baked cookies (they share a communal hall with a bakeshop). Chelsea, my hygenist, and Dr Hartman were already aware of my anxiety per my patient form. They sat and spoke with me about my experiences, and listened with compassion and genuine concern before we began. Their warmth and understanding eased my mind as they explained, step by step, what they were doing during my consultation exam. I have had two follow-up appointments since, and was met with the same warmth, compassion, and care. I have actually enjoyed my dental visits - and even found myself looking forward to them, knowing that I was in the skilled and gentle hands of Chelsea and Dr Hartman. I am again somone who enjoys visits to the dentist - which is a far cry from how I felt just a month ago... and I have Chelsea, Dr Hartman, and the entire staff of Elite Dental to thank. The appointment was fine, but customer service and billing was the worst I have ever been associated. 14 months after expensive and possibly unnecessary work I started receiving bills from the office. I called several times with little to no help, a clerical error was made saying I was a minor that conflicted with my insurance (being mid 30s it has been a while since I was a minor). The lack of care after multiple calls and e-mails with so other dental offices in the area I would steer clear, their easy carefree dismissals of my issues doesn't appear to be a one off and probably treat other clients that way often. read more

From the prompt, kind schedulers who strive to get you on the books at a date and time that works with your scheduler, to the compassionate care Dr. Kozakowski and her team provide, I feel respected and cared for by everyone. Even when I moved from Arlington to Annapolis over seven years ago, I continued the trip to the Elite dental office in Arlington because the quality of care is consistently excellent. I'm especially grateful to Dr. Kozakowski for her skill and compassionate bedside manner. I hate the dentist. I've seen multiple dentists throughout Fairfax/Arlington, and I didn't like any of them. Then, a friend suggested seeing Dr. Dudley. Not only is he the best and super personable, but the Elite team is amazing and some of my favorite people. The office has the best high-tech equipment, TV's in every room, and just has a great vibe to it. Dr. Dudley and his team will make sure you're comfortable and relaxed, and will talk you through treatments and recommendations. I wish I had the positive experience that others on Yelp did. I found Elite through searching Yelp, but my experience was subpar. I visited for the first time 6 months ago and my entire experience felt like an upsell when I was there for a routine cleaning. The hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth and had good bedside manner, so though I didn't feel incredibly comfortable with the business practice of upselling patients, I understand this is what happens sometimes so I planned to return for my 6 month check up. This is when they lost me as a customer. I received an email a week in advance to confirm the appointment. The email clearly states that if a patient is not able to keep the appointment, they must notify the office ONE DAY IN ADVANCE. Today, the day before my appointment, I was booked for an important work call and needed to change my dentist appointment. I called the office and was told that because it is within 48 HOURS I will be charged a cancellation fee. I informed them that this is not what their email said, and was told, "Oh ya, sorry, that was an accident." Instead of honoring their email communication, I will be charged a no-show fee with zero empathy or understanding that plans can sometimes change and I called within the original one-day policy that I was mistakenly assuming. This is poor customer service and I will be looking for another dentist in the area who does not send email "errors" to their patients. Buyer beware. read more

Saw the 5 stars on yelp and I gave them a shot. This place lives up to its expectation. I have to say without exaggeration this has been the most pleasant dentist experience I've ever had. The location is basically hidden but when you get into the building and into the Suite you already feel like you're gonna have a good experience. It doesn't look or feel like a dentist office. There are refreshments and the staff in charge of signing you in are super friendly and weren't rude even once. You fill out the forms you get via email before you get there so the process is much smoother. **make sure to do them on a computer not a phone** The wait time is almost nothing. Chelsea who was my dental hygienist was very sweet and friendly, also extremely knowledgeable on what she was doing. Chelsea was kind enough to answer any questions and boy the technology in this office is all high tech! I loved the place. There's even a tv for you to keep your mind busy during the cleaning as some people get dental anxiety. Unfortunately my case was a bit more serious and I had to have some fillings. I met Dr. Hartman who again was a very sweet lady and made sure I was 100% in the know of what I should expect and what she was going to be doing today and her assistant was this gentlemen who was also very cool and was there to walk me through the process. Overall I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a TOP OF THE LINE DENTIST. read more

I've been going to Dr. Dudley and his team for a little over a year now, and I love them! I first went for a regular cleaning, and then decided to do Invisalign. I feel he and his team are honest and helpful; they get it when it comes to customer service. I just got my Invisalign off and absolutely love my smile! A note about their integrity and customer service: I was misquoted the total for my Invisalign (they originally quoted me less than the actual cost) and when I went it to start, the bill was much higher than I was expecting. They honored their original quote and I didn't have to fight with them, which goes to show their integrity, honesty, and commitment to serving their customers. Dr. Dudley is the only dentist I've had since moving to the area in 2008. He seems to constantly be striving to create the best customer experience from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you step back out.
