I hired Paul Davis Restoration to install a garage door on my property after some storm damage. A…read moreyear after the installation, the door stopped operating. Assuming that it was due to the garage door opener I had another company check the garage door opener for basic troubleshooting. To my surprise, the 2nd company identified several issues with the installation of the door which resulted in the door not closing and seizing resulting in damage to my garage door opener. All of the identified issues required extensive repairs in addition to a brand-new garage door opener. I was provided an inspection report and photos of the parts of the garage door that were installed incorrectly. One of the main issues was that the door was too large for the door opening. But rather than order a new door or a new panel for the top of the door (as is standard practice), Paul Davis Restoration cut a notch in the top of the door which is improper and resulted in structural concerns which are detailed in the inspection report. The inspection report also details other issues such as missing outside lift brackets at the top and bottom of the door and cables that were run around the track to the pulley. In short, the improper installation caused the door to seize and break the gear and sprockets on the garage door opener. All of which prevented the door from closing. Paul Davis Restoration also didn't replace the emergency key release which is standard practice in a garage door installation. This is a safety concern, because in the event that the door seized while it was closed and I had been in the garage, there would've been no way for me to leave the garage without the door being cut through. I don't have a direct entrance to my home from inside of the garage. I attempted to address this with them and even reached out to the PA Attorney General Office. This resulted in a few communications from one of their representatives Brian Maggs, claiming that they stand by their work and they would do something to resolve the issue. In the end their smug ass attorney Jeffrey Harper responds refusing to accept responsibility and claiming that they processed a refund 2 years ago which is a lie. They sent a one page print out showing a refund of my deductible which conveniently never made it to my bank account. As a professional that has a license built on integrity, I clearly wouldn't request a refund for money that I had already received. Overall, don't use this company. It took them 3 days to install a standard garage door. The people that they sent could barely speak English and they cut corners. They did a shitty job and they clearly enjoy stealing from hardworking people. And rather than do the right thing they chose to give me their ass to kiss versus offering a fair settlement which would've been my out of pocket cost to repair a door that they installed improperly. Luckily I'm not hard up for the money. It's not worth the legal fees to pursue.

So, when we decided to remodel our master bathroom, we knew we'd retain them for the job. We worked with their in-house designer, Jill. We started by providing our desired wall tile. She worked wonders by helping us choose complimentary flooring, cabinetry, faucets and other hardware. She produced a wonderful solution for our home. As great as the designer was, the craftsmen were equally excellent. Demolition went off without a hitch. They made sure to constantly clean debris, dust, and other bits. The highlight was the tile workers' expertise: they were EXCEPTIONAL. The quality of their work still astounds us. They made the bathroom. Our master bathroom is now the best room in our house. He apologized, then immediately started it again. They redid the floor in my mother's living room and had to take up a railing I built by the foyer. They cracked it, knicked it, and mangled it when they took it up to put the floor down. It was put back with gaps that were not there when I built it. Cracks in the runner, spindles marred-up, finish nails driven part-way in, then hammered over and the holes not filled. It was a nice oak railing. Now I have to fix it. They have done a tremendous job for me. Outside my retaining wall was replaced, new steps and walkway, new storm door and new sliding door was replaced along with new railings and awnings. Everyone involved was always very polite, professional, hardworking, always on time. At the end of their work day they made sure to clean up and make it possible for us maneuver around. After all the outside work was completed I was so pleased, I had them take care of the inside upgrade. That included tearing up flooring, addressing the squeaks in the hardwood and installing a new floor throughout, looks beautiful. They installed a new backsplash and countertop in my kitchen. I kept my cabinets and the guys painted them, they also repaired a broken cabinet door and you'd never know it was broken, everything looks great. It was necessary to make upgrades to my electrical box, I now feel safe that was taken care of. The guys have a few things to finish up for me, which my son Drew was not aware of before he became upset about the railing he posted about. I know I can depend on George to handle them. I am so pleased beyond ecstatic with all the work George has done in my home, we have had a great working experience.
