Day 1, Damon came looked over the job and gave verbal a quote for the slab work we need done. I wanted a 35'x6' slab added and 45' from the alley cut out of the yard slope (flat landing) next to the side of the building. No problem he says. I can do this in a day. Day 2, at 7:00 am. Phone rings. Its Damon. "Its Pouring rain here.... We better wait ...". Day 3, 7:45 AM Damon arrives with his machine. We talk about what I wanted, Again. No Problem he says. "I can get that hauled out of here in a few loads" he says.... Day 4, 8AM ...is here and digs out some more slope. Fills his trailer again. (Load 2)... Still more than 4' of material there to come out. Life Happens... DAY 7, I sent him a text at 08:22 AM Im Looking for his email, I did not have one, asking about the invoice/quote. ... I received a reply at 1:05 PM ... No email though Final workday, Comes and finishes digging out slope. No material removed as I need it to finish my part. Does not have my paperwork as promised. He then promises again to email my quote. Looks up and verifies my email address. I am still waiting as I write this... I promised to update my review when he was finished with my job. And I did. Damon Laws is a crook of the highest magnitude. i filed a civil case in Denton County seeking $19,250 in damages for: Breach of contract, abandonment of an ongoing project after receiving deposits for such work. attempting to perform work on our foundation, work that failed due to saturated ground then left the excavations open which by a soil engineers report compromised the stability of the that portion of the footings. Damon in one who will lie to you, cheat you out of as much quality and money. In our case, he completed 1 out of 5 items on his proposal which he used a fictitious business name and signed. For all my home owners, property owners etc So just a heads up for everyone about this customer I had the displeasure of dealing with. If you're planning to work for him or with his company please beware! I trusted his word but it's very apparent that he's got some major money issues and does not intend to keep his word with his customers or people he does business with. He called on me to take dirt to his job site in forney Texas and unfortunately I took his word on an agreement of payment. As of yet he has not honored his word. If your planning on doing business with him make sure he gives you either payment up front, a valid credit card or a post dated check, but I wouldn't put check fraud out of what this guy would be willing to do. We agreed on a job of dirt delivery for $600, I even took him an extra load for free, and he has refused to pay. He also has multiple issues with multiple customers from what I'm seeing, cut him off before he attempts to screw you over. Furthermore he was crazy rude and unprofessional and takes a request of payment as you being "unprofessional" despite agreeing on the set time/date for payment. Please share this information around so he's unable to mess with anyone else's time or money. People like this deserve to be out of business and make this community a nightmare. Damon Laws is not only not a good concrete layer (several of his jobs have had concrete crack or fail shortly after completing), he is also dishonest. Says he will finish something, but doesnt. The second he gets paid in full he is gone. No finish, no clean up. Work cracks and he doesnt guarantee any of his work. I was a repeat customer and he still treated me like this. This company is not closed. The neighbor next door to us hired R&D Services to redo their driveway and this was done on May 26, 2023. We came home on May 30th and found a concrete mess in our front yard (along with the yard of the house where the work was done). Per our neighbor the owner, Damon was supposed to come back and clean everything up and he never showed back up. She said she made the mistake of paying him in full. Both homeowners were left to clean up concrete messes! What an unethical business owner - and what an environmental services violation he left in the City of Carrollton! read more

I contacted R&D via Facebook messenger. Damon replied and came out for an on-site quote. Damon was thorough and on time. I was quoted a resonance price for (2) 10x20 slabs; $2750. I paid half up front for supplies and to lock in my start dated. Unfortunately, due to weather and a family emergency, I had to canceled this project. Due to some miscommunication, there was a slight delay in the refund of the money but Damon called me and refunded me my deposit as we spoke on the phone. I cannot speak for others experiences, but mine was pleasant and I would work with Damon again. read more

Wow, wish I had read these reviews before I hired this company to repair my driveway. All of the reviews are correct. DAMON LAWS is a liar and a cheat. He promised everything and did not deliver on anything. I should have noticed the the red flags on the first day. My sprinkler system has lines and pipes that run underneath my drive way. DAMON LAWS promised to bring his sprinkler system expert person on the very first day of work to properly replace and move the lines, wiring and hoses. I clearly marked my sprinkler heads and pipes with blue flags. Upon arrival, he said his sprinkler system person couldn't make it, but would be in later that morning....NOT!!! DAMON LAWS promised to professionally remove my expensive edging retainer around my flower bed and have his "lawn expert" properly replace them once the job was completed....NOT!! DAMON ruinEd my retainer and flower bed!!! DAMON LAWS did not properly cover my garage doors and left nearly $1000 worth of concrete splatter on the doors. I've had to hire different contractors to repair those items he "destroyed!!!" The walkway from my front door that leads to my front yard is not sloped properly for water run off. It rained a couple of days after the installation and now water runs back to my front door as oppose to away from the house. DAMON LAWS did not cut the concrete joints in my driveway nor walkway. I had to spend more money to get that done from separate contractors. DAMON LAWS did not pour my walkway to the width he was contracted (short about 12 inches). DAMON LAWS left my properly totally destroyed and did not clean up the mess he left behind ( empty water bottles, rebar wires on lawn as well as chunks of concrete, paper and other litter). DAMON LAWS promised to power wash my driveway and garage doors to clean them up -NOT!!! They finished up the pour around 7:30 pm on day 2 (dark outside) and I paid him for the work. DAMON LAWS promised to come back early the next morning to finish up. DAMON LAWS did not show up until 4 days later (he had many excuses as to why he didn't show up earlier). DAMON LAWS showed up to "power wash", clean up and repair the destroyed areas he caused to my home. DAMON LAWS showed up and said his power washer machine "clunked out" that morning and was inoperable. DAMON LAWS did not bring any clean up material.....NOTHING!!! He borrowed brooms, a dust pan and shovels from me and my neighbor - SAD!!! I pointed out to DAMON LAWS how unprofessional his work was and all of the lies he sold me on. Our conversation became heated. DAMON LAWS called his business partner, Eric, who was out of town. Eric promised me he would call me the next day and make my situation good -NOT!!! At that point I asked DAMON LAWS to get off my property. It's been 5 days now and I have called and texted Eric several times and no reply. By the way, my doorbell audio/video camera recorded several conversations with DAMON LAWS and his workers where they were telling him that the driveway and slope of the driveway were not correct. DAMON LAWS actually told them not to worry about it cause it didn't have to be perfect!!! WARNING!!!! DO NOT deal with DAMON LAWS and this company. I filed a BBB report and will seek damages through the court system once I finish up with all repairs/mess caused by DAMON LAWS and this company. I wish I could rate DAMON LAWS and this company a negative 100 trillion, and that would be generous. All of this transpired about a week before this posting. By the way, DAMON LAWS did not show up the day after I wrote him a check, cause he was ill. But, DAMON LAWS surely made it to the bank that day to cash the check. Go figure. I have been trying to get Damon to come and fix a new driveway pour done in Nov 2018. He allegedly came out once, nearly a year later, and had my driveway "tested" and said someone must have poured acid on the driveway in the curing process, the gall. When I first reported the holes in my driveway, he kept saying he was busy and didn't have time for my "little job". I recommend that you stay away from this company at all costs. DO NOT HIRE!! DAMON IS A CROOK!! Damon contacted us through a job search engine (like Angi's List, but it wasn't Angi's List). Talked on the phone about the job we wanted done. He gave us an estimate over the phone. We told him we'd think about it and get back to him. Three other businesses contacted us too from the same search engine. We chose R & D Services (Damon) to do the job. We set up a date and time for his electrician and guys to lay cement pad for a hot tub and patio space. We touched base with him 2 days prior to make sure everything was still good. He said "yes". So we didn't think anything was wrong. The night prior to him coming out to do the job, Damon texted me at 11:54 pm and asked if we were still good to do the job. Well, we were asleep at that time of night and didn't see the message until the next morning. I texted him back asap after seeing the message and said "Yes, we are still on for today ". Damon responded a few hours later and said that I got back to him too late and that we would have to reschedule because he can't get the cement truck on such a short notice. (This should have been a great big red flag for my husband and I that something wasn't right.) But this was our first time ever hiring a contractor. So, we rescheduled. Damon came out the morning of the reschedule, we talked about our project while we were waiting on his employees to show up and he informed us that we wouldn't need an electrician for what we were doing and his employees would lay the cement that day and they would come back the following day to clean up the wood frameing that holds the cement while it dries and lay the color over it that we requested. That night it rained. They didn't lay anything over the cement to protect it from getting rain drops in the cement. And no one has been out to our house since then. And Damon has stopped answering my calls and text messages. He over charged me by $1000 from the original estimate and didn't do half the job that was supposed to have been done. We had lunch at R & D this past Sunday after church. We were lunching with a friend who had recently been widowed and we talked and lingered more than we usually do; however there was no long line of people waiting for tables and there were 3-4 empty tables behind us. Our waitress cleared our table; my husband asked for more iced teas and received it. When my husband got up to use the restroom, our waitress approached him and asked when we were going to leave. He told her that we were usually in and out but that today we were hosting a friend who needed to talk and he asked for some more iced tea. She then told him that she would get in trouble if she gave him more tea since management really wanted us to leave. I was more than a little shocked at this behavior since we have recommended this restaurant to so many people and bought a gift certificate for $200 for our son the last time we were in there. I recently encountered the worse, most stressful experience from a recent project done by Damon Laws with R&D Services. The job is still not completed and he did not deliver on any of his promises. Communication was disrespectful and degrading, he charged me more than what was agreed upon after the fact, he ruined my grass, broke down a section of my brand new fence and left the job unfinished. He's a crook and has no problem taking your money and running. Extremely disappointing and now I have to pay double to have two other companies come out and fix the horrible job that was done. He was awful and screamed and lied to us telling us his Grandma died and that was the reason he didn't finish the job. Do not hire Damon! Would have put 0 stars if possible. He did not even do the patio that he was suppose to do so had to ask for money back several times. Cannot even explain how unprofessional this man is! Called my husband several times screaming and cussing at him about how we are on his schedule and he will do the job when he can. Told us how much it would be and changed the price several times (which is understandable because things come up) but then the day of him saying he would finally do it called up and wanted more money!!
