After 6000 miles, which started in CA, I took it to change the oil in Asheville, NC and was told that they wouldn't do the job since I needed a new valve cover gasket. I knew I had a small leak but figured I might as well get it done. Shortly thereafter, I found myself in Lexington for a week and decided to get the gaskets changed. Being new to the area, I went to Yelp, and after two or three calls, I spoke with Chad of Lee's Auto and explained what I wanted. He asked all the right questions, which I expected he should have given I had watched about 7 videos on changing the gasket on a V6 and came up with a good estimate, which gave me an appt for the next Monday. Nevertheless, I was apprehensive when I took it in, and he had it done before lunch and stuck to the estimate. While driving it back after the change, I smelled the usual oil fumes and hoped they would go away the next day when I was to leave for PA. It did, and we are back on the road. This is to say that Chad did a bang-up job, with very little social interaction and just straight-up professionalism. Thank you, Chad, for helping us continue our journey.

I somehow got the van to their garage and immediately had Brandon out taking care of my situation. They were super methodical and had me on the road in no time, even fixing my damage. I had to use the spare tire to get home, and then order tires. But i think that was for the best for my pickiness. The repair price was appropriate, and the cleanliness of the waiting area was perfect. Garage was open and modern. Most of all, the professionalism of the manager made me give thought to coming back (an hr from home) just to keep giving them my business. He even gave me good suggestions for new tires. We took a Volvo in after the AC compressor they had installed last fall seized and broke the serpentine belt. We said we wanted an estimate to fix what needed fixing. For $2400 they replaced the AC and belt. Upon leaving the shop the car's AC worked when moving but blew hot air at idle. We took it back. They charged another diagnostic fee and said it needed a fan....for another charge of just under $1000. Immediately after the second pick up the car started throwing codes and blowing hot air; again. Third trip back. They admitted they installed a faulty compressor. After repairs for which they refused to give a statement of what they did to the car, the car died that night and had to be towed away. After putting over $3400 into repairs the car was never driven again. I know Lexington is limited in repair shops but please find anyone else for your auto needs. I had no idea one shop could cause such chaos ultimately leading to junking the car.

I explained that where I took my car for annual inspection (did not know Midland Trail does inspections) I was told I needed to replace them. I admit I wondered how the guy doing the inspection could tell simply by standing behind my car and having me hit the brake. Larry told me I did not need to replace my pads and in fact would not need new pads for another 10-12,000 more miles. And he would not even let me pay him for his time. So nice to find an honest mechanic.

I was not let down. Larry with Midland Tire went above and beyond, and fixed my car (bad coil pack) on the weekend when they were supposed to be closed. My car was ready in less than a day, and he even came into the shop on a holiday (Labor Day) so I could pick my car up. I really appreciated the hospitality and selflessness they showed. I would definitely use Midland tire again in the future!

We called on Monday to see if they did pre-purchase inspections. The lady said they did for $100.00. I reiterated the price she gave, and she confirmed. Tuesday, we called to verify the appointment and cost which they did again. HOWEVER...Wednesday when they were done the "pre-purchase inspection," they said we owed "$135" because they added "Labor charges". I was livid and said we were told $100 but the man just ignored me and said I could think of it as "charging the battery" for a car we did NOT own. That wasn't funny or professional. If they can deliberately upcharge you 35% on a pre-purchase INSPECTION, that took 20 mins, then I'd be nervous to see what other "add-ons" they would include with real mechanic work. They already lost our trust and business; please be cautious!
