"Doug" sounded very friendly and knowledgeable when my son took and dropped off the vehicle he asked that a check engine light be checked... he ended paying over $280. For basically a tuneup (change of Spark plugs and wires) with the inspection. Buyer beware.... I tried to reason with him... he said his prices were just.... NOT SO! EVERY OTHER SHOP WAS BETWEEN $50 AND 150. CHEAPER. I don't wish him ill, but he should not take advantage of students just cause his shop is the nearest to the colleges I informed him i would have to put this review due to his overcharging my son... he said to go ahead since it wouldnt affect his buisness... Please help change his mind by checking other shops and let him know you saw this review.

I made an appointment on Thursday 10/4/18 for Tuesday 10/9/18 to have the lower ball joints replaced on my truck. I was told the job would take 4 hours. I dropped my truck off at 7:30 am and drooped my keys off in the door slot, since no one was there and walked to work. I called at 9am, no answer. 9:30am no answer and again at 10:30. I wanted to make sure they had gotten my keys and information since no one took it over the phone. The guy that answered didn't seem to care and only said that he hadn't gotten to it yet. Since I didn't get off work till 3, it was ok at that point. When I got off work and walked back to the shop to pick up my truck, the job wasn't even started. The guy just shurgged at me and said he hadn't gotten around to it, but I could reschedule for the following week. My truck had been left unlocked with the keys in the ignition and unattended all day 0 on Customer service 0 on integrity Save yourself the agravation and wasted time and call a different machanic.

Only problem was that dealer was 4 hours away. Called and spoke to Nathan at around 4:00pm. That's when the over the top exceptional customer service experience began. We had recently thought we found a vehicle only to arrive at dealer and find the car was sold. Expressed our concern that this might happen again. Nathan explained the VA Select Policy of not "holding" a car if someone came into lot and wanted to purchase. What he did do, was commit to letting us know upon closing that evening (via text), that the car was in fact still available and we could commit to driving there in the morning. But that wasn't good enough for Nathan. He also went the extra mile and took a picture of a scratch he noticed on the vehicle and sent us pictures. Said he would ask the body shop to buff it out first thing in the morning. We texted Nathan when we departed our house at 6:30am (they don't open until 9) and he was then able to remove it from the lot so no one could purchase since we were now enroute. Upon arriving to the location after 4-hour drive, the first thing we say at the entrance was a shiny, newly detailed Dodge Charger. My son was very excited and Nathan proceeded to give us a 30-minute certificate to do a test drive. This completely suprised us, as our experience had been drive around the block with saleperson hovering in back seat. Son was convinced it was the car after driving it for 5 minutes. Upon our return, Nathan offered us beverages and escorted us to his desk for the daunting "sign and make it yours experience". Not once did we feel pressure. No haggling was required (we knew this before we came), and Nathan patiently answered each and every question. Once the paperwork was complete and ready for us to go to the financing department, we all went outside and talked about the car some more. Nathan shared several personal stories with our family and we were happy that we had him as our salesperson. But it didn't stop there. Once Finanace was ready for us, Nathan took it upon himself to take the vehicle to the the nearby service station and top of the gas tank. Outstanding. The financing process was quick and painless as we had pre-approval for the loan. Robert Seeney (F & I Manager) took over from there and made sure all the paperwork was in order since we were from out of state. He was extremely professional and had the personality of someone who took the customer service experience seriously. Bottom line is that our experience with Virginia Select Auto was exceptionally pleasant and we would hope that everyone would get the opportunity to work with Nathan if in the market to purchase a car. Their no-pressure process is something we will never forget. Thank you VA Select Auto!

I did as always and pulled up to the pump with the green handle and hose. If you have a diesel you know where this is going. Yes, I put 3/4 of a tank of gasoline in my diesel truck. As we headed down the mountain the truck was acting like it had bad fuel in it so we stopped and looked at the receipt to confirm my error. I knew this was a HUGE issue and so we called the nearest Chevrolet dealership which was Mitchell Chevrolet in Marlinton, WV. One of the owners, two brothers, brought a flat bed tow truck with a rental car for my family to follow him and my truck for the hour drive back to his location. His staff immediately asked if we needed anything to drink and offered options near by if we were hungry. The waiting room was very comfortable and warm, wood burning stove kept us all cozy! What we were thinking was going to be an overnight stay turned into only a two hour job overseen by the other brother. I was very fortunate there. The owners both stayed late to see that we were able to get back on the road or to help locate accommodations if we needed to stay the night. Bottom line here is their customer service was ABOVE and BEYOND our expectations. There should be more people in today's world like everyone at Mitchell's Chevrolet!! Thank you all for the help and hospitality. Phil Ralph.

A bad situation all around, as we stood at at the guardrail for an hour. Had the car towed to McDonough's Toyota 40 miles north in Staunton. Filled out a service request, dropped it in the overnight box, and then drove a further two hours home to the DC area exhausted by the experience at the end of an 18-hour day. I didn't know what to expect from the McDonough service department, as I'm not a big fan of dealership service departments and not from Staunton. I ended up delighted, however. Stephanie was kind and helpful when she called me on Monday morning, the diagnosis and repair (new alternator and battery, unfortunately, which I'd assumed) was completed quickly, and we picked up the car on Tuesday. All the ladies we dealt with on the service desk were a pleasure to speak with, completely professional, and they returned my calls quickly after I left messages. The estimate was accurate and the cost reasonable for the work done. I hope I'm never in this position again; however, I'm glad we took to the car to McDonough. All's well that ends well.

My mother's relatively new Buick under extended warranty from GMC was towed here when it was having…read moreissues starting. The warranty company requires it go to a licensed GMC/Buick dealer and this is closer than towing to Roanoke so, this was the place. My mom didn't read any reviews (of which there are loads of bad ones and BBB complaints against this dealership/service department). My mother was assured this should be under warranty and within a day they told her it was a bad fuel injector after they ran tests/diagnostics. She was at my house visiting during this phone call and asked if they should replace the other two as well. Her service tech said no, warranty wouldn't cover it usually and only one was bad. So, done. Warranty agreed to pay for this. A few days later (after weekend) - she gets a call with "bad news" from them. They test drove it and it was still having issues... so they were going to tear it back down and ensure they didn't "do something wrong". No mention of costs, labor charges, etc. They call back and tell her a second fuel injector has now failed and would need to be replaced. They would contact warranty company. Ok. Now, the warranty company does agree not only to replace another injector, but also the third one too. Just in case. Counter to the initial information my mom was given. Seems they didn't ask the warranty company up front who very well may have agreed to replace them to save duplicate labor costs - which is exactly where we ended up. They also never gave her a quote for the cost before doing any of this, bc they planned to fleece the warranty company. So, my mom didn't get the luxury of saying, no before they had her car taken fully apart and told her she owed $1300 in labor. That came AFTER that had already happened. So the sequence was out of order here. Here is the main problem: their position is that this was a completely new issue and that this fuel injector failed ONLY when they tore it back down. Not that it was also bad when they initially only replaced the one the first time and billed her warranty for $1600 in labor. Sounds fishy to me considering when they tested it after the fix, it didn't work. So they did not in fact, fix the issue and they are in fact, at fault for missing it. The math ain't mathing. So, they planned to make labor fees off the warranty company for replacing a fuel injector - then charged my mom FOR THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN, saying this was a new issue and it wasn't bad when they first tested it. She never started the car, sat in it, or drove it after dropping it off there to be worked on. How can any reasonable person believe, that this second fuel injector just happened to go wrong at the exact moment the replaced the first one and was perfectly fine and my mom needs to pay them another $1600 in labor, not that they missed it? Additionally, wouldn't any reputable service department at least consider that and not charge her FULL price for something that is most likely their mistake? Yeah, not this place. They were rude and dismissive to her when she became upset over this. I called and had a more nuanced conversation with Ben where he admitted "probably" the fuel injector was already broken but since it didn't "throw a code" they didn't know for sure, but yes, it was likely but wasn't their fault. My mom spoke to the service manager, Cliff, who appeared dismissive on the phone and essentially told her unless she paid it she'd never get her car back and refused to do anything about reducing the labor charges. I have to say - I am extremely unimpressed and my mom, who doesn't make a ton of money, is really upset about these charges. They are saying this is a warranty issue and blaming the company - I see it more as them trying to bulk up their fees by double-charging for an issue they failed to find on the first go-round and should've eaten. No reasonable person would think they didn't miss this issue - at the very least they should've taken half the cost off and not charged my mother $1600 for labor and also the warranty company for replacing the exact same part (fuel injectors) on her car within days when she never even picked it up and drove it off the lot the first time. The warranty company denied a double-charge, just like medical insurance does when a doctor double-bills you. Shameful. I wouldn't bring a vehicle here if I had any other option on Earth. There is a real lack of integrity here and it's plainly obvious.
