During his visit, my husband showed him around the house, and they eventually agreed that Ronald would split the work over two days. On the first day, he was supposed to disassemble the home gym, and on the following day, he would come with three other men to pack the house for the out-of-state move. However, the troubles did not end there. Despite multiple requests, Ronald could not provide proof of insurance. He seemed unfamiliar with liability insurance and only had a $10,000 bond. After several attempts to explain, I gave up trying to make him understand what general insurance is. The problems continued when he came up with a string of excuses for not showing up on the first day as planned. By then, my husband had already sent him $1200 via Zelle to reserve the truck, which turned out to be another lie--Ronald never made any reservation. He provided us with a nonsensical one-page agreement for the work, refusing to sign a proper document like a reputable moving company would. At this point, my patience wore thin. Upon requesting a refund, as expected, Ronald refused and even threatened to sue us--a ludicrous notion. Furthermore, communication with him was a nightmare; he appeared to be heavily intoxicated, with extremely poor speech. I don't like to write bad reviews but sometime they just need to be written. I recently moved and decided to use a moving company. After going over several company reviews and getting quotes I chose R & K Movers. My one concern with them is they had a few reviews that mentioned not showing up on time. When I called and talked to them they said well life happens and sometimes things don't always work out as we planned. I understand that and decided to go with them. I had sent him a list of furniture and told him I had a lot of stuff, but I was in a one bedroom apartment. Now first you need to understand that I am 71 years old on social security. I don't have a lot of money so this was a huge output of my finances, but because of my age and mobility issues I needed professional help. I spoke with Ron of R & K Movers, he was very friendly and assured me they would be on time and professional. I sent him a $50 deposit and arranged for them to show up on May 25th at 10 am. I'm not a morning person but this had to be done and I was prepared for a long day of pain but once the move was done I could rest. First thing Wednesday morning May 25th I get a text message that a family emergency came up and it would be noon by the time they could get there. Noon came then it was 2 pm that they would show up. Then it was 4 pm when they finally texted and said they were stuck in traffic and 8 hours later at 6 pm they finally showed up! I was almost ready at that point to say come back tomorrow, but I was paying a daily rate on rent in two places and again spending more money was an issue. They pulled up with a small Uhaul rental truck. I told them immediately that the truck was too small and they assured me they could get it all in. Now, I have to say even though they were 8 hours late they certainly moved things out quickly and did pack quite a bit into that tiny truck, but it wasn't big enough. By the time we got to the new place, unloaded the truck it was 10 pm. While unloading one of them mentioned that the job from that morning was more than they expected. WHAT? They didn't have a family emergency they took another job when they should have been at my place? I was steamed!!!! Then he told me that they would go back tomorrow and get the rest no charge. He charged me $650, plus the deposit a total $700 which I thought was reasonable. I did remind him that I told him I had a lot of stuff & that the size of the truck was HIS FAULT not mine. So I gave him the key to the old place so he could pick up what was left and they did do some clean up, but AGAIN it should have been done first thing and he did tell me he would be here by 10 am. DIDN'T HAPPEN! At noon I got a message that they were on their way to my old apartment to pick up what was left. I don't know where they were in the metroplex but the next text message I got was at 1:30 pm that they had just gotten to my old apartment and were getting the rest of the stuff out. Now there wasn't that much stuff. A few small pieces of furniture and a few boxes. They totally forgot a small step stool in the closet. They did call and say there was some stray papers and stuff that they would pick up for me which I was grateful for, but this should not taken them more than an hour total. The drive from my old place to the new even with a bit of traffic at 3 pm should not have taken more than 30-40 min. Normal drive time is 20 minute. They finally showed up at my new place at 4:30 pm emptied the truck and moved some boxes around for me to find things easier but they were done in less than an hour. What the hell were they doing for three hours? THEN he tells me that his wife the business manager is not happy that he worked for free and that they were losing a lot of money because of it and he had to charge me another $550. INSANE! This woman is NO business manager she's a jerk and she is going to run him out of business with her ethics! He did drop it down to $450 and I reminded him that it was his mistake. He even said his wife told him that truck was big enough. What does she know! For $20 more the right size truck would have solved the whole problem but it seems FINANCIALLY RAPING your customers is more profitable. I don't know if they have any faith in God but taking advantage of an older woman who is widow doesn't sit right with God. YOU SCREWED THE POOCH AND THE WRONG OLD LADY! WHEN YOU SCREW UP ON A JOB YOU MAKE IT RIGHT YOU DON'T CHARGE MORE MONEY! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE CHEATS. THEY TAKE OTHER JOBS WHEN THEY SHOULD BE DOING YOURS THEN FIND WAYS TO CHARGE YOU MORE! I WAS CHARGED FOR A LOT MORE THAN THEY ACTUALLY DID. OTHER COMPANIES STATED THEY DON'T CHARGE UNTIL THEY PICK UP THE FIRST PIECE OF FURNITURE IN YOUR HOME. I also texted them and asked for an invoice for all the charges and I guess their business manager is too busy screwing other people to send me an invoice. UPDATE: Normally, once I've posted a review, it's not necessary to respond to the words of the Business Owner unless they are looking to repair the relationship. However, I feel it best to mention that I was seeking help to move from FRISCO to DALLAS and this was mentioned in the request for quotes sent out on Yelp. It is completely appropriate to pay mileage from the point of origin to the point of destination. However, I have no control over where the prior gig may have been located, so it is NOT appropriate to charge mileage for that. If agreeing to work a Frisco job would have resulted in resulted in charges just GETTING to the first location, that should certainly be mentioned. Otherwise, do not do business in Frisco. Interestingly, this Business Owner now wants to bring God into his response to my review, when he was behaving in quite the ungodly manner when YELLING at me about gas prices and how he was too busy to look at the location of origin on Father's Day, but was plenty available to respond back and forth to agree the job. No contrition there - just full speed ahead with the snarky response. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Miscommunications can happen, so I do my best to provide as much information as possible. I requested on Yelp to hire movers for relocating some appliances, and R&K was one that responded quickly. They were not available same day, but were available the next day. Ron (I believe) sent a quote along with his phone number, and indicated an hourly charge of $95 per hour plus $89 truck fee. Not the cheapest quote, but he was extremely responsive on Father's Day. Fast forward to Monday, and we speak to narrow down a time. I expressed concern that I had a limited window of opportunity, and he assured me he would be there. He called me about an hour before our meet time to tell me he was going to charge me his hourly rate as he was over an hour away. When I objected, saying that I wish he would have let me know beforehand, he started yelling at me, talking about how expensive gas was. I responded that I had sent him my address the day before, and he said he was busy as it was Father's Day. However, he had been extremely responsive and made no request to wait until the next day to discuss. Additionally, we had spoken the next morning, I'd resent the address to his phone, and there was NO mention of charging his hourly rate for driving to my location. Furthermore, he responded to the Yelp general request - I did not reach out to him directly. I believe this could have been resolved professionally if he had not started yelling at me about the price of gas and it being Father's Day! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't hire these people, I started my conversation on Yelp and they denied even doing business with Yelp, I was quoted 110 an hour with 75 gas fee plus 10% discount.....for 3 guys....When they showed up it was a Mom and two high school age sons. I asked them to come at 8 during our voice conversation, so I don't have proof of that, but the night before they text and asked if 10/11 was ok, I said sure. They text again in the morning saying the "truck company" had their schedule mixed up and as soon as they get a truck they will come, I said "Sounds great". They arrived at 10:58. My son's father had to help because they couldn't do it by themselves. Nothing was tied down it was just put in the truck. At the end of location my son's father had to help again. When they asked for payment it had been 3 and half hours. They asked for 640. I said I was quoted 110 an hour 75 for gas plus a 10% discount. They said they didn't agree to that so I screen shot the conversation from yelp. They said they didn't deal with Yelp. I said How did you get my information then, Then she said 'that was another crew" that wasn't them. Then they said they didn't know about the stairs, which I clearly stated in the YELP discussion. Was told it would be 85/hr and a 100 truck rental fee for two men. Job lasted two hours and we were charged 370. As two graduate students we are already scraping by, having this company suddenly inflate their prices by $100 after being an hour late is ridiculous. They also lost our box with the air fryer, rice cooker, and other kitchen appliances. Disappointed to be treated like this. So fast efficient and kind!!! A very hardworking a personable crew who really took all the stress off the moving process. They were more careful with my belongings than I have been in previous self-moves and extremely quick/efficient in their load and unload. Entire move from loading all furniture and about 15-20 boxes for a larger one bedroom apartment to unloading at new location was about 2.5ish hours. The attention to detail to even separate boxes into the marked rooms was awesome. Reasonable pricing and overall a great moving company! I bought a huge couch that I couldn't return and was desperate to get it into my 4th floor apartment complex. I tried everything, elevator, stairs, I even considered taking it apart and screwing it back together. I called R&K Moving company last minute and expressed urgency and the situation I had here because I couldn't just leave my couch in the lobby. They came, looked around and I cant make it up, these two guys, pulled my couch up from the ground floor, to the fourth floor in through my sliding door. There was no other way, and they found a way. He told me " Don't worry ma'am, we're going to get this couch into your apartment." and they sure did. When I move, I will definitely be calling them back. We scheduled R & K Moving Company for Saturday, March 12th at 9:00 am. At 9:30 am when they had not arrived; I called to see if they were coming. Ronald (whom I had all communication with) said 2 of his guys were sick and could we reschedule for Sunday at 2:00 pm, we agreed. I received a text from him at 11:28 am on Sunday asking to reschedule for Monday at 9:00 am. Again, we agreed. On Monday at 8:08 am I received a text stating it would be 2:00 pm or 9:00 am on Tuesday before he could move us. Since they never showed up I can't speak to their moving abilities, but if timing and money are important to you, don't use these movers. We had an appointment with them to move one desk from an apartment to a house 2 minutes apart last night. They were scheduled to arrive at 6pm. At 5:50 pm we received a call that they would be a little late. The reason was because they scheduled another move and said "if there's a job that comes up, we have to take it because we want the money." We were understanding of that and said that was fine since they said they'd be there by 7pm and would let us know when they were heading over. By 8pm we had not heard from them at all so we called and told them that it was too late to move the desk since we no longer had access to the drop off location. He agreed and said he would venmo back the $50 deposit immediately since they essentially never showed and were 2 hours late. We still had not received the money back by this morning, so we called and he said that he had "spoken to his wife" and they decided not to refund the money because I called to tell him it was too late to move and they decided that technically made it a cancellation. Not only were they egregiously late, they were profoundly rude. As you can see from past reviews, being late is a pattern and there's always a mysterious excuse and reason why it's not their fault in the response. We never requested that they stop what they were doing to come to us. We patiently waited for them to call when they were on their way, which they never did. Do not use these movers. read more

I believe in supporting small businesses 100%, but to be clear this company abandoned the job due to the distance between the truck ( Which was too small and rented from (Uhaul)!!!!! and the apartment itself. I will take into consideration that there where many people moving in on one elevator, but that not my POINT! This company has no integrity about representation!!! No matter the job you agreed to do, you should have completed it. I was quoted a price that was agreed upon and told later it would be more due to the difficulties between 2 people ( not enough crew) and the fact that all of my items wouldn't fit in the truck that the company rented. Let me be clear... it could have been a cart and horse, but keep your word and finish the job. I agreed to the increase and was told they would be back the next day. NO!!!!! I was told his other truck he owns broke down. Still no communication and did not complete the JOB! This company needs a re-evaluation of its priorities and promises. If you couldn't do it a no would have been sufficient. The other companies went off without incident! Nor did they complain. I waited 24 hrs after the move for a response. I sat at my un-emptied storage ( that I now owe another month) without them showing up at noon as was told and promised. DO NOT BOOK THEM.
