Two Stooges Moe and Curly dropped my sofa, damaged the frame. They continued to mess around. Unloading was even worse.. I don't want to pay for someone to screw on lampshades. I need assistance to MOVE boxes and furniture. The guy who was hard working left between loading and unloading. In short: instead of the quoted price of $3500, I was charged $7500! I called customer service and they knocked $400 off labor because the fourth guy wasn't there to help unload. I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated. Half my stuff is still in Dallas due to not having enough room on the truck (blamed me because they didn't quote correctly). In their defense, the area had a massive winter storm delaying the whole move, but they also did not get a large enough truck to move all my stuff then said it was my fault for not sending pictures to them WHEN I WAS OUT OF TOWN. We messaged back and forth multiple times to reschedule, but not once did they remind me to send the pictures. Other movers require the pictures before even quoting so now I have to go back and either move the rest of my stuff by myself or pay someone else. I wish I would have just paid the extra $1k for someone else to do the job properly. Get an accurate quote then think long and hard before you move forward. Also make sure they bring a big enough truck!
