I returned to that shop and asked them to inspect it again, but they told me nothing was wrong and recommended replacing my tires for a smoother ride--even though the tires were only three years old and had just 13,000 miles on them. I then brought my car to Frank Honda and Toyota Auto Repair for a diagnostic second opinion. Mike inspected it and called me right away with a serious finding: the left rear brake caliper bolts were missing, and the right front brake caliper bolts were loose from the previous brake job. This was especially concerning because I had already returned to the original shop and been told the vehicle was fine. This issue could have caused the brakes to seize, putting both my safety and my vehicle at serious risk. I am incredibly grateful to Mike and the team at Frank Honda and Toyota Auto Repair for their honesty, attention to detail, and outstanding service. I have had oil changes done here, brakes, water pump, various issues, related to coolant, radiator, hoses, etc. they produce quality work at a fraction of the cost of most dealerships. The ace tech also found a little temperature control knob vent gate sticking and advised us on that. With some needed suspension control arms and transmission fluid service plus an oil change I'm rolling great again. They ran a carfax report to determine what might need attention and flagged my battery, brake fluid, etc. 2. They ran a battery test and it failed. I had my battery changed 2 years ago that wasn't reported on carfax, so it's convenient it failed the test. 3. I had them retest and my battery passed. The mechanic had made an error on input, but how can I trust your results if they could be miscalculated? 4. I questioned the long list of items that required immediate attention and it turned out I didn't need to get those things done. 5. I picked up my car and my tire light was on. They didn't even fill my tires. I shared with them this felt predatory that I could have gotten all these things done if I hadn't questioned them and it was clear I didn't need to service my car according to the reports shared. Also $109 (with a discount) for an oil change is crazy.
