Very disappointed. I was referred to come here but won't be returning after my experience. I came for an oil change and to check my car. Here's where it went wrong: 1. They ran a carfax report to determine what might need attention and flagged my battery, brake fluid, etc. 2. They ran a battery test and it failed. I had my battery changed 2 years ago that wasn't reported on carfax, so it's convenient it failed the test. 3. I had them retest and my battery passed. The mechanic had made an error on input, but how can I trust your results if they could be miscalculated? 4. I questioned the long list of items that required immediate attention and it turned out I didn't need to get those things done. 5. I picked up my car and my tire light was on. They didn't even fill my tires. I shared with them this felt predatory that I could have gotten all these things done if I hadn't questioned them and it was clear I didn't need to service my car according to the reports shared. All this took place THE DAY BEFORE EASTER SUNDAY MIND YOU. I got towed to the shop at 8 PM by AAA after both of my batteries were drained due to an alternator failure. I slept in my truck on the street from 8 PM to 8 AM. When the shop finally opened, I told them what was needed, and they already tried to haggle with me about diagnosis fee and once they opened it up they might find more problems and all this frivolity and nonsense . AAA battery technician had already tested and diagnosed that it was a failed alternator (a $300 part). The service invoice @ $1235.30 for alternator replacement stating it would be necessary to REMOVE the radiator which is not true. The guy at the counter even had to YouTube how to do the alternator because they didn't know what they were doing. PRICE GOUGING AND SCAM REPAIR CHARGES. DO NOT COME HERE THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS! I found a mobile mechanic who found an alternator and TWO NEW batteries for LESS THAN HALF THE COST OF THIS PLACE. He had me on the road and at church for Easter Sunday. I brought my new 2024 Hyundai in for an oil change. They detected an oil leak which I followed up with Hyundai. Hyundai wrongly stated it was from an improperly placed filter by Dragonfly. I got a full synthetic oil change for $90 (original $120) through a GroupOn voucher. Service was great, very friendly staff and they walk you through any findings and make recommendations and suggestions without making you feel pressured to buy additional products. They also told me that they price-match and gave me a punch card that offers a free oil change after the 5th one with them. You can make appointments via their website which I found convenient. You can tell a lot of people trust this place by the other reviews and the number of cars they were working on (it was quite busy when I went on a Monday). The downside to that is that the wait time was significantly longer than other places I've been to. I waited about 3 hours but thankfully they have a nice clean comfortable lobby that offers free cold/hot drinks for their customers. Despite the wait time, still 5 star service, I would come back here for my car needs! read more

I recently visited Dragonfly Auto Repair off Pacific Highway for a basic oil change on my Audi. When I called ahead and explained the specific oil needed, I was quoted $89. However, upon arrival, the price jumped to $139, then down to $119. While I was okay with the price change, what really left a bad taste was Alejandro's attitude. He couldn't seem to understand why I was frustrated by the unexpected price hike. When I mentioned the discrepancy, his response was snarky. He explained that the "mechanic" who answered the phone didn't know the difference between a domestic and foreign car. If that's the case, maybe a little more leadership and management could go a long way in avoiding these situations. I get it--price changes happen. But a little professionalism and customer service would have made all the difference. Unfortunately, my experience felt like the typical "bait-and-switch" routine, and the dismissive attitude made it worse. Would I return? Probably not. There are plenty of places in San Diego where transparency and respect are part of the deal. read more

Alejandro was very friendly and treated our problem with our Pro master van with professionalism. We needed body work and a rear window replacement. We explained that we were going to have AAA insurance cover the repair costs. Alejandro explained to us how the process would work before we dropped off the van on March 7, 2025. The work needed required 2 rear left side panels replaced as well as the slide door panel and the left side rear window. We thought that we would not get our van returned for at least 3 weeks. The thing about this place is that they will give you a reasonable estimate and then jack up the cost once the vehicle is on the lift. And it's not that they discovered something new that also needs fixing or that they didn't understand the situation. In my case they completely understood the situation and still doubled the price on two occasions. I went down the road to Roberts Automotive and got a fair price for quality work. This place must pay Yelp well. I brought my car in for AC service and gas gauge repair. It was there for two weeks. When I called for a status update they had to ask me (more than once) what was supposed to be being done to it. They also completely dropped the ball on what was supposed to be a completely covered rental, so I ended up having to take Uber to work for two weeks. The AC barely lasted a couple months and the gas gauge is worse than before. I basically paid them to make my car worse. Terrible communication, terrible service, terrible work. I would never go back and recommend others avoid at all costs, especially with the plethora of auto repair service options in the area. read more
