The guy who came out sat on his phone for almost two hours that we were charged for, because he had no idea how to service our unit. He kept pushing flushing the lines, which turned out to mean pouring some vinegar into the pipes. After hard selling us on this for the first couple of hours he realized that he didn't have any vinegar and had to go to the grocery store to get some. The problem is somehow fixed but his explanation was so vague I'm not convinced he knows how he did it. Pretty pricey for what little was done, mostly because of those two phone hours where we funded his training. read more

Each time they thought they fixed it and I did too, then it quit working shortly after they left. I came home after a really hot day and found that the air conditioner had stopped working and was making a really loud sound outside but definitely not cooling the house inside. Of course it's not working when it was 90° out LOL so I went onto Yelp hunting for help. I had a new furnace put in. within two weeks the furnace stopped working. to get r&r out to fix it, I had to pre pay for a service person to come out. I am in a trailer during the winter!!! Horrible Customer Experience!!! Had a tankless water heater throwing an intermittent fault code. Contacted the manufacturer and the manufacturer said it's related to the gas pressure or the flame device and that R&R Heating & Air Conditioning is one of the two vendors in the Spokane area who can service the system. So I contact R&R and schedule a troubleshooting visit. The tech comes out the next day, "troubleshoots" the issue and diagnosis it as a clogged condensation drain. In the tech's defense, the drain was clogged with about 6 years' worth of calcium. I pay the troubleshooting fee plus the time and labor and the tech is on his way. Later that afternoon, the water heater throws the exact same fault code. I contact R&R and explain the issue is still not addressed. They tell me they will need to contact the manufacturer to assist with troubleshooting the issue. I contact R&R the next day and am told they are still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. Meanwhile, the issue is growing in frequency. Now we can't run multiple large water draws (dishwasher, shower, etc.) at the same time; just single large sources. The morning of the second day (this is a Friday), we now can't even use a single large water draw without erroring out the water heater, so my family literally can't take a shower. I contact R&R first thing that morning and am again told they are waiting to hear back from the manufacturer and they will email the tech and see if that status has changed. I hear nothing all morning. Early afternoon of the second day, I call again and ask for an update. I am told the same thing, by the same customer service rep, as earlier in the morning with the only additional detail being they still have not heard back from the tech. I explain the situation about not being able to use the showers now and ask to basically raise the urgency on this. The customer service rep says she will call the tech and ask for an update and contact me back. She calls me back about 10 minutes later and says the tech is still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. She then tells me even if they heard back that afternoon, they still wouldn't be able to dispatch a tech until the following Monday. Great, my family gets a weekend without a warm shower. The customer service rep says there are two paths forward we can choose from: 1) wait until Monday, hoping by then they've gotten contacted by the manufacturer for technical assistance or 2) receive a refund and take my business elsewhere. I fill the rep in on the fact they were the second vendor I called, the first one given to me by the manufacturer told me they don't actually support my brand of device. So I'm really stuck with R&R so what good is taking option 2 going to do for me.?.? I then ask a question of the rep: "how long were they going to go without contacting me to let me know they were still not getting anywhere with the manufacturer?" The rep tells me they would contact me back once they heard from the manufacturer. So I said, "what if they never heard from the manufacturer. Would I never hear back from R&R again?" Now during this entire conversation, in spite of my growing frustrations, I never once raised my tone of voice; never used profane language. It was a cool, calm conversation. The rep in a very agitated voice says, "My manager has instructed me that we are going to issue you a refund," and hung up on me. She literally hung up the call on me. So now I'm even more pissed off about the situation. I immediately call back and get a different customer service rep. I calmly ask to speak to a manager. The rep asks me what this is about. I say it's in regards to a bad customer experience. I am passed along to the manager who looks up my account and then tries to explain to me the tech can't do anything without the manufacturer contacting them back. I say I understand that and I asked the rep how long they were going to go without contacting me as all the communications over the past 2 days have been initiated by me. The manager tells me 24 to 48 hours. I said great and asked why my asking this question results in being hung up on. The manager tells me the rep claims I was being aggressive. Funny how their calls aren't recorded for customer satisfaction and representative training. I explained I wasn't any more "aggressive" with the rep than how I was talking to her (the manager). I expressed how I understood the situation they were in and I wanted to try and help out. I said I would also reach out to the manufacturer and see if I could get them the manuals they needed. I asked if we could lock in the time on Monday and if they still don't have the manuals by then, we can reschedule. The manager says she would have to check with the dispatch manager and get back to me. I got a notification from my bank about receiving a credit before I got a contact from R&R about not proceeding forward. read more

We lost an exhaust blower motor in our gas furnace. Called R&R early in the morning and the repair guy showed up in a couple hours with a mask on and put covers over his shoes and looked everything over. Ordered the new blower and then came back in a couple hours and installed it and we have nice quiet heat again. I honestly didn't think I would get that fast and high degree of service with past experiences from other companies that tried to pressure me into work I didn't need. If I could give ten stars, I definitely would. R&R has always taken care of us. However, when our furnace died this week I called and was told they didn't have an appointment available until next Tuesday. I couldn't wait due to temps dipping into the teens at night and I have two small children. I asked if there was any recommendation who I could contact. Even though it meant losing our business, I was given the name and number for Holliday Heating- one of their biggest competitors. I want R&R to know how much it means to us that they put a client's needs above their own so that we wouldn't have to be without heat longer than absolutely necessary. Had HVAC issue with my 5 year old system that R&R installed. Come to find out my warranty doesn't cover "accessories" of a heating / cooling system so they would charge me. OK fine whatever, paid a $100 service charge to have a "new technician" come out to diagnose the problem and measure incorrectly for the part that was needed when the second visit took place. Second technician remeasured a day never heard from R&R again. After repeated calls for weeks, a service manager named Bill who promised to return my call, proceeded to go on vacation according to his voicemail when call back never occurred before leaving the office, who promised to come out personally and fix the system himself (who by the way never showed up or even called me back) according to the office staff who spoke to Bill directly my issue was finally fixed seven weeks after the initial visit. Did I also mention I'm part of their lucrative "Service Plan Membership" that puts that level of customers a tier above regular customers (yeah I know I'm sounding like a Kevin here) and prioritizes them on service calls. Anyways after all the remeasuring, four service call visits and increased energy costs because my system wasn't regulating airflow correctly my system was finally fixed by a tech who was great! Super thankful! However R&R felt that they needed to "do the right thing" and offer me a measly 10% discount for all the trouble they put me thru. Repair still cost me $660 dollars for part and labor. Service Manager definitely is lacking on customer service, apparently there is constant turnover with office administration staff and I'm visited by "new technicians" constantly according to these dispatchers. Do yourself a favor, if you are in the market for a new heating / AC unit or need HVAC work done. Use another company. I'm stuck with these clowns until AC and Furnace warranty is expired as long as they perform the regularly scheduled maintenance in them. read more

I would like to recommend R&R Heating & Air Conditioning. I was greeted by Holly with friendly professionalism when I scheduled the appointment. She was able to schedule the appointment at a time that fit with my schedule. We had a Preventive Maintenance performed on our gas furnace. The Technician Eric called ahead to let us know his expected arrival time. When he arrived he was wearing a mask. It was wet outside but he slipped on plastic shoe covers so he wouldn't track the mess through our house. He was knowledgeable of our system. He cleaned and tested the system. I believe he worked on the maintenance for about 45 minutes. He also went above my expectations when he grounded wires from a previously installed condensate pump (we installed ourselves). Our AC decided to stop working on Sunday afternoon with my wife about a week and a half from her due date. I called a few places Monday morning and was simply told they wouldn't be able to come for at least 2 or 3 weeks (wife wasn't too happy about that). I called R&R and they were able to get me scheduled for an appointment within the week. Shortly after scheduling, they called to tell me there was a last minute cancellation and they could come out that afternoon (Monday). The tech spent the time to make sure everything was repaired and working great! And at least my wife is now comfortable in one way... They made me feel like I wasn't just another customer in the cue, but that they actually cared about our situation. read more

I was going to get a quote for a new furnace and air conditioner, however, the salesman was arrogant and obnoxious. I have an 80 yr old house and he insisted on checking my air returns. I tried to explain that I am not changing my air returns.Then he needed to check my heat load which no other HVAC had done. We recently had our ducts cleaned - after the installation of our new Carrier furnace and air conditioning units. John was the technician who performed this service. He was neat and very professional and explained what he was doing ! All in all, we are very pleased with R and R and will recommend them very highly. read more

I am fairly satisfied with the work although it is kind of loud and clunky sounding now after a couple of years. The only complaint I have is they did not show me about changing the air filter (s). When I called to ask they were no help. So I am not sure if I am doing it right. Other than that the installation went well. read more

I wish I could recommend R&R, but I can't. My biggest issue is that I get the impression that they intentionally misled me during scheduling / bidding. The initial timeline for install was quoted as 3-4 weeks. At the end of the day it was 6 months. Granted, covid caused delays, however it became clear during the process that they withheld information. I had an installation appointment set at time of receiving my deposit. This got pushed back approximately weeks. That was unfortunate but I could live with that. When I had an installation date set, the business day before installation I was contacted with the news that the heat pump wouldn't be available but they wanted to push ahead with install of the furnace. The sales person acted as if this information was a surprise to them, but it clearly wasn't. The heat pump was the important part of the install in order to have some sort of cooling during the summer. It really disappointed me because it was clear that R&R heating had knowledge of these delays for weeks beforehand and likely even when they gave the initial timeline. Both Randy and Jason were friendly, but that seemed shady to me. Lots of companies had delays due to covid. If R&R had been upfront from the beginning, then I would be fine with the delay. In addition, there were issues with install. An electrical apprentice was used for some work, and he wasn't very careful. To begin with, simple things weren't attended to. The thermostat controller was installed at a tilt. I had to point it out and offer him the use of a level. More importantly, the wires were yanked out and not used to guide the new wires. This ended up resulting in two holes in my dry wall. One gouge they spackled improperly and the other hole remains open (I stopped them before doing a shoddy job on the second larger hole). I was assured that the drywall would be fixed, but the damage remained unfixed for two months. I emailed with questions/email regarding the drywall damage and other concerns and received no response (finally a follow up 3-4 weeks later after 3 emails and a phone call). I also needed to stop someone from trying to drill into the hardwood floor with a pilot hole that would remain visible afterward. Lastly, when my install did occur, it was done in two steps approximately 6 weeks apart. After this part of the install, I was invoiced for the furnace, but at that point it was non-operational with no thermostat connected to it. Invoicing for an incomplete job seems inappropriate. Prior to working with R&R, I had two great experiences with Cougar Mechanical. They were phenomenal on service calls. Their bid was competitive. In hindsight, I really wish I had went with them on this larger job. read more

Paid the price to have someone to look at my furnace. They came cleaned out the air intake pipe and said we should be good to go. This person never asked what the symptoms are or what's it doing nothing. He left shortly after 5pm. I take my kids trick or treating and leave them with my hubby to head to pool league. Come home at 10pm to a cold house. HHHMMMM My pilot light went out yet again. The same issue that I have been fighting before wasting my money. It's supposed to be freezing this week and not wasting another cent on these people to have nothing accomplished. Now I'm still stuck with no heat and even less $ to do anything about it. Our furnace went out (or so we thought) and we called R & R. They gave a time when they would be at the home, and since we live somewhat in the country, we made sure we were home. They did not show at the agreed on time. So we called, and they said that the technician had been held up on his last job, and was running late. This was in the afternoon. By 9:00 P.M. no call, no heat, and no technician. So we called the following morning, and left a message. No one ever returned the call and we never heard from them again. Fortunately, I started messing around with the thermostat, and got it to work. So far, so good. But if you need furnace help - do not call me, and do not call R&R!! read more

Well after trying to do some research, I was in the market for a new ultra efficient heater/air conditioner heat pump set up. It seemed like there were 3 big games in town that I could tell R&R which carried the Trane brand, Costco/Banner heating and fuel that had lenox, and I think another that carried Amana. I called R&R and asked them for a quote and only had the next afternoon to meet up. So even though I called the day before they had someone out 1pm the next day, who did an assessment and spoke to me in regard to furnace/air and heat pumps. He was of course somewhat of a salesman but overall was very nice and provided very fair assessment of the job. What was really great is there was not one moment of upselling. He really pointed out why I even should not go for a model that was more expensive. So he even sold me a cheaper setup than I was looking for. He also said I could keep my filter and humidifier. Didn't even try to seel me his versions. The quote was good and I decided to go with them. The next few days I was called by the engineer to setup a sight visit. Todd really knows his HVAC,and I was more than willing to talk to me about a NEST thermostat I had. I really wanted to keep but he wasn't sure if it would work. He even took the extra steps to call the company and see if it would! They then scheduled the install for a day that I actually had to work all day. I was a little nervous leaving the crew alone but hey what are you going to do? Needless to say 3 guys did the install and I think took most of the day. I got home at 5 to see them all wearing shoe covers and everything installed perfectly. They even cleaned out my humidifier that was clogged up. I walked around the work and you can tell it was all just done really well. Joints siliconed, they went to extra work to route the pipes out of my way. They walked me through the thermostat and everyone was super professional. Buying a new system is pretty stressful, kinda like buying a car where you really don't know what costs what. That being said, I can say these guys really do quality work and you can tell that they cared to do it right and professional. It was totally worth it! Had R and R out for my furnace. The pump went out, and I needed a quick fix. I called Monday morning and they had someone out by mid afternoon. (That was great). Guy looks at my furnace and says your pumps out. (Yup, that's what I said when I called). He doesn't have the part and has to have the office give me a call. He collects 90 some dollars, that I can't use for the repairs and leaves. I get a call a few hours later and am told it will be 8-10 days (they must order the part) and parts and labor will come to $580. Now, I'm not the most handy person, but I'm no sucker. I go to Amazon and find the blower, and through some research discover I will need a restriction plate. (Not mentioned in my quote as most people try and use the old one). It's gonna cost me $207 dollars and I can have it in 2 days. 6 screws 2 connections on the main board, and a ground wire later I have a working furnace. Soooo if you would like to spend $460 in labor on a $200-$250 dollar part, and wait 10 days with no heat, give R and R a call. read more

We had R&R service our previous home they were always courteous and professional. So when it came time to put a new furnace/AC into our new house we decided to go with R&R. Randy came out and gave us a bid, we talked about the pro's and cons of each type of furnace/AC unit until we were comfortable with our choice. There was a slight mixup with the scheduler Jason he was supposed to call me, I waited a good week. I called Randy the guy who gave me the bid and he said "oh don't worry they are just backed up, he should be calling you tomorrow." I waited another 4 days, and finally called the office and asked for Jason the parts scheduler. They connected me, and we got an appointment scheduled for the next day. So my note to self, don't let them schedule just call and set up the appointment. That was our only snag in the whole process. The installation team Rex, Jared, and Ronnie are a fine group of guys. Professional, and clean they worked quickly and efficiently (or as fast as they could for it being 4º outside). They installed a new furnace, AC, Humidifier, 3 ventilation fans 2 for the bathroom and 1 for the kitchen, plus some additional duck work. The whole thing took 2 days. We had our duck work cleaned the next day. All shiny and brand new in 3 days time! Our AC unit is untested at this point, because it needs to be warmer outside for it to work, so we will have them back in the spring to make sure everything runs properly. I plan on signing up for R&R's maintenance program after our 1 year free service check up. read more

What an absolutely horrible company. We called and scheduled an appointment to have an AC unit install estimate, it was going to take them three weeks to come out so we set the appointment. The next day, we were able to get ACI Heating and cooling to come out, and ACI was able to have a new unit installed that same week. So in less then a week we were able to get ACI to come do an estimate and install a unit. So 3 weeks later the estimator for R&R shows up at the door. Whoops, I totally forgot about you coming out. I apologize for forgetting and he has a crappy attitude and starts treating me like I am some big a-hole. Well, maybe they shouldn't make people wait three weeks for AN ESTIMATE. They guy was a complete a-hole with a crappy attitude. I'm pretty glad that I didn't go with this company. If his attitude is even remotely representative of the company I saved myself a ton of hassle. read more

We purchased a new home this past winter and were unable to test the AC because of the temps. In June we brought R&R Heating out to service the heating and the AC and found out the heating unit and humidifier were only a year old and working fine. However the AC was on its last legs. Since we are not full time residents yet, we setup the installation of the new AC for a week in September when we would be back unpacking. The estimate was a simple process, mailed them a check for the down payment and installation was scheduled. Two competent, friendly and respectful guys arrived at 8:30am and were completed by 3:00pm. Our inspector arrived the following morning and signed off on the work. Bing, Bang Boom we have a brand new AC! Highly recommend this company and everyone we have spoken with on the phone. read more

Central A/C was not working so looked up top repair specialists on Angie's List and Home Advisor. R&R was top rated company that had 24/7 service. I submitted a repair request online and expected a call back. After 2 hours of waiting, I called them and requested service. It should be noted that the online repair request is only available during normal business hours, M-F. If you require same-day service, you need to call. The service tech, Greg, called me about 4:30 pm and was at my home by 5. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and answered any questions I had. After explaining what my A/C was doing, he was able to troubleshoot and repair my condenser with parts on hand in about 30 minutes. Very satisfied with the overall experience read more

During the hot part of early August we had water coming from what we thought was condensation at or around our AC unit. It was affecting ceiling tiles and we needed to get it done. They were busy so it waited from Thursday until Tuesday and that was understandable due to the extreme heat everyone was encountering. But the guy got to our business and spent most of his short time telling us why he could not fix or diagnose anything...then turned around and billed us for 2 hours of time. Unacceptable! Only referral I could give this company is a negative one. They should be ashamed for billing anything but a minimum service call and a real good business that did nothing would probably not do that. read more

After having R&R unhook our AC for a construction project, and then hook it back up, our AC began to fail a few days later, of course when our temps are in the 90's. I ended up calling on a Sunday morning. 10 min later a service tech called me, and we discussed what was going on. He said I should turn off the AC, and call back on Monday during normal hours( saving me $$). I called back on Monday morning, and I believe I spoke to the owner.(Steve?) He sent a tech out late morning. The tech found a leak, and was honest enough to say, it was probably caused by the work a few days earlier. He fixed the leak, and got us working again, all no charge. It was a fine example of a business and its employee doing the right thing, when it would have been easy to have charged me a service call, repair costs, and even weekend rates. I really wanted to give this company 5 stars, and I gave them every opportunity to do so, but what it boils down to is R & R apparently doesn't want my business. This summer I had my A/C go out in the middle of a heat wave. I was the guy who didn't get it serviced before the heat hit and was told it would be nearly 4 weeks until they could get someone out to me. That's fine. I deserved it. That's what I get for being that guy. So when they did come out, the technician, nice guy I can't remember his name, told me my nearly 15 year-old AC unit had had it. Done. Kaput. He gave me the unfortunate news that I would need a new system. So while on speaker phone with the office processing my payment, the technician told the lady that I needed to book an appointment for someone to come out and give me a bid on a new system. As I'm standing there listening to the conversation, the lady takes down my information and says she will call me "in the next few days" to book an appointment for that. Again, R&R apparently doesn't want my business because that call never came. "Why didn't you call them?" I thought about it, but we pushed through the heat wave and the expense of a new AC system seemed less and less immediate, so I was fine putting it off. So Fall hits and I'm determined not to make the same mistake with my furnace. Having no AC in the summertime is bearable... not having heat in the middle of winter is not an option. So I decided to give R&R another shot. I scheduled an appointment for a guy to come service my furnace. Jason arrived at my home and was very nice (and is really the only reason this isn't a 1 star review). He said my furnace is good to for the winter! Yay! However, when making the appointment for my furnace, I inquired again about getting someone out to my house to give me a bid on an AC unit. Good time to buy them, I thought. An appointment was made and due to my work schedule, I was forced to take a day off to accommodate the range of hours that they might show up to my house. Really upset that I did, because while waiting for them to arrive, I received a call from the guy who was supposed to come give me an estimate and was told he was "too busy" to come out that day and asked if I could reschedule for tomorrow! I booked the appointment weeks in advance. Not wanting to take ANOTHER day off from work and risk the same thing happening, I said I couldn't do tomorrow. I was told he wouldn't be able to make it out, but he would call me later in the afternoon to schedule a new appointment. Nice. I made an appointment weeks in advance, took time off for it, and was now being told they wouldn't honor it. Again... they apparently don't want my business because that follow up call to reschedule never came! Ridiculous. My need for a new AC unit is not urgent, but after trying numerous times to get someone to my house to give me an estimate and having them bail on me while not respecting the fact that I took time off to meet their schedule... I will be looking somewhere else for a new system. I'm done begging them to take my thousands of dollars. The two technicians who did come to my house were friendly and professional, but there is communication gap and a general sense of not caring that has me baffled. I made an appointment to have my oil fired burner which powers my radiant floor heating almost two weeks in advance. I got a call the morning of my appointment saying they were sorry and there was an oversight, they actually don't even service oil fired furnaces. They didn't tell me at the time I first spoke to them, nor the other two times when I spoke to someone about additional concerns I wanted addressed when the technician came. I am willing to be understanding if people make a mistake, but not informing me when I called to check on my service appointment, and then calling me to say they aren't coming on the morning of the appointment is unacceptable! We had a new Tech this time named Jonathan Napolitano. I have got to tell you he was the best Tech we have ever had and we have had some good techs from R&R heating. He was not only professional and thorough but he also took time to explain things. He was gentle in his suggestions to change how we had things set up and he made us feel confidant about your service. Johnnie was patient and helped us figure out things.
