I hired Element Air to install the gas line for my Generac generator. They told me that my gas meter was to small and needed to be up graded by Avista. Zane scheduled Avista to come swap it out and they did a great job. I had even asked for them to route the gas line a certain way to get it where it needed to be and they did a great job doing what I asked of them. GUARD YOUR GENEROSITY, GET IN IN INK! I had a 3 head LG heat pump and some gas pipe installed by Element Air. After agreeing on the price though, Zane told me they "forgot" to add the tax in. Being a new company, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and split the additional ~$1,300 cost with them. After installing the heat pump it was like pulling teeth to get them back out to do the gas pipe. Next, the gas permit had expired and I was asked to pay the extra $100 fee. I drew the line there. However, when I later looked closer at the gas pipe I'd asked them to install for a future water heater, they'd run 1/2" pipe other than the 3/4" pipe for an on demand heater (that I told them I wanted stubbed out for). In a pinch, I called them up to fix their work (which to their credit, they did do quickly). I made the mistake however of offering to pay for parts. They charged me for parts plus ~100% overhead on them (paying for parts vs parts plus overhead are two different things). I paid the extra simply so I could write a candid review and hopefully save others from my woes. There's lots of contractors out there - I deal with them every day as a Contract Officer and Professional Engineer. This classic technique is known as the "Bait and Switch". If you do use them, get *everything* in writing first, down to the size of pipe needed, and who pays for permits. If they come to you afterwards with some bogus accounting error, tell them to pound sand. They got almost an extra grand out of me plus the $13k I spent up front for a job it took a few guys two half-days to complete (not two and a half... two half days). They only get 2 stars because they came back to fix their work, and they did a decent job on the on the installation, and they worked with me to save other costs on the installation. Their bait & switch go-to move however, suggests shady overall practices aimed at squeezing you for cash after the contract is signed. That's a red flag for me - consider yourself informed. read more

My air conditioner broke a couple summers ago and we had been scooting by with getting the air conditioner serviced with more freon. 2022 was the year for a replacement! I requested quotes from three different companies for a replacement. Holiday heating came and did the first bid and took a week to get back to me with a quote which was around $7,000. Mainstream electric canceled on me two times in a row and after that I decided not to business with them. Zane found out Mainstream canceled on me and same day offered to come do a bid. He showed up on time and gave me a quote that night! He came in significantly lower and I asked how he could do that when Holiday heating was so high? He told me that he doesn't need to price that high when his bids are good for him. He came in lower and gave me a better quality air conditioner. Honest pricing and work. He showed up on time on the installation and same day as promised installed my air conditioner. He found that my air flow was restricted by a part on my furnace under the coil and then customized sheet metal to fit the new coil to my furnace and maximize air flow. I now have used my air conditioner three times this year and it works great. Also improving the air flow has been noticeable when I run my heater as well. All around an excellent experience and would recommend Element Air to anyone and everyone. read more

Based on a number of 5*reviews on Yelp, I asked Zane of Element Air to give me an estimate for replacing my 2007 Rheem heat pump and air handler. I gave him background on the current system's repairs and why I wanted to replace it. He confirmed that he installed American Standard, one of the most reliable brands, and also Mitsubishi. I had already had 2 bids from other HVAC companies, one who sold the lowest quality HVAC system. I was not interested in low quality. Zane made an appointment for a few days after the call. He came on time, inspected the house, the current HVAC, made a detailed drawing of the air handler and the small utility closet, assessed the outside area where the heat pump was located. Zane suggested Mitsubishi because of its efficiency, low use of electricity (one 50 amp circuit breaker rather than Rheem's two 60 amps for the air handler and 40 amps for the heat pump). He installs primarily Mitsubishi HVACs in rural Spokane houses built by contractors because of the lower operating cost in very cold weather. I live in West Plains, where temps are 10-15 degrees higher in summer, and 10-15 degrees colder in winter compared to Spokane. Zane chose a variable speed (3 fan speeds) 18 seer system for my ducted home. It is very efficient and qualifies for both the US Tax credit and Inland Power's Rebate ($2800 together). The heat pump's vertical profile takes less space that the other brands' pump. Zane offered me a senior discount. He also offers veterans a discount. The cost before rebate and tax credit was less than the low quality 13 seer system from the other company (which did not qualify for tax credit or rebate). The installation was smooth. The crew arrived on time, prepared the outside site, removed the old system, and installed the air handler in the very tight closet. They put in new fridgerant lines through the crawl space. An electrician installed new lines according to code. Jared and Josh, the installation crew, were knowledgeable, experienced, polite, respectful, quiet, did not play loud music, worked well together. They were easy to be around. When they experienced a challenge in the electrical installation, they tenaciously stuck with troubleshooting until it worked. The system has been running for more than a week. I cannot hear the air handler fan in the house, nor can I hear the heat pump fan outside. My house is quietly warm. The many questions I had before, during and after the installation were answered in an easy to understand way and in a timely manner. read more

I'm a full week into having central air and I couldn't be happier - especially as the days start to heat up. Zane, his partner David, and team Shawn and Cameron did all of this for us: 1) Took out all of our old duct work (my request), 2) installed new duct work throughout the house, 3) installed a new high efficiency furnace to replace our old one and moved its location to give us more room to move around in our laundry area, 4) installed an a/c unit plus electrical work to power a/c unit, 5) moved our air intakes to more convenient and useful locations, 6) installed a new smart thermostat in a more useful place in our home, 7) installed a UV air purifier, 8 ) removed both of our old wood fire stoves (I was terrified of them) to give us more room where we needed it, 9) and patched the holes in the ceilings and floor after moving vents and chimney pipes. The amount of work they did in just 1 week was absolutely amazing! They didn't cut corners, and even did some custom work for some of our vents due to where they needed to be placed. 10/10 would recommend these gentlemen for ANY heating/air/ventilation needs! read more

These guys were great! We moved into a new place where the previous owners hadn't gotten much stuff serviced in a long while. The AC in particular was not blowing cold. The house is winterized so it just absorbs heat and at times inside would be hotter than it was outside. Even with the air on we could never get the downstairs below 77 degrees. Upstairs was a sauna. It made it hard to sleep. I checked around different companies for prices on diagnostics.I spoke with Zane at Element Air and they were running a special where they'd run a diagnostics on our AC and furnace for $129 so we went with them. The tech that came out and was super knowledgeable! Answered all of our questions and was never annoyed by us asking what had to be dumb ones. They diagnosed all our AC problems and some with the furnace and fixed them, all at a very reasonable price. The AC is blowing cold. We were actually shocked yesterday when we were doing yard work and then came inside and the house was cool for once! We are going to have them come out again to give the furnace another check before it starts getting cold. I'm really happy with them and their work. 5 stars! read more
