They painted our place 6 years ago, inside and out. Good at the outside, not as good inside. No primer on semigloss, peeled after first year. But the biggest mistake was having them do anything else. Robert claimed to be a contractor -- we needed new flat roof and gutters. Gutters were cheap from Home Depot and worse than what they replaced. Put on new torch down roof that always leaked and last year (2022) we discovered was not properly torched down. New roofer could LIFT IT OFF. Do NOT let R&S do anything but simple exterior stucco which they are indeed the cheapest at. You get what you paid for. Not sure if they're in business anymore... read more

I have mixed feelings about Robert and his company. When I spoke to him last year about painting the inside of my parent's house... he sounded like he knew what he was doing and paid attention to the details in the house. I had to do some patch work and have an electrician come in before I had it painted. When I texted Robert later, we met and finalized the deal. Unfortunately, he was about 3 months out to do the job! He didn't tell me that the first time. And yes, he was the lowest priced bid I received. He said they would paint by all the air vents, not use our sinks to wash their brushes, etc, etc. He offered to use his B or C team in 2 months. I said okay, but it was the same price. After two delays in the start date, I told him that was too many delays and he'd better start when he said. Robert forgot to tell his crew that I'm having all the carpet and linoleum replaced, so his crew spent half a day taping off the carpets with plastic, etc. what a waste. They painted the whole house in about 3 days I believe. It was okay... like most painters, they water down the paint, so it's a very thin coat. Some spots had to be done three times because the white paint was so runny. Anyway, after they left, I noticed paint in the drains, even the garbage disposal side! The foreman said they usually don't paint the air vents... not sure why Robert told me that. And the hallway cupboard doors were painted shut. Too much paint dropped down in the track... so we had to destroy the doors to get them out. Overall, the paint job was okay. Buyer beware: Don't be fooled on what Robert says they're going to do. You get what you pay for. Would I use them again? Probably... only because of the price, not the quality. read more

I hired Robert and his crew for a full exterior paint job. The house had not been painted in 19 years and it showed, rotten boards, rotting decorative wood, peeling paint, no stucco for two feet from the ground, it was comparable to the Adams Family House. Robert and his crew, power washed, fixed ALL the rotten boards as well as repaired the original decorative wood to like new, trenched the entire circumference of the house, re stuccoed to the ground, primed the house, painted with two coats of premium paint(including doors and window frames), all in about ONE WEEK! For less than 3 other estimates! Not to mention, his crew cleaned up every day and were so nice to work with, taking care not to destroy plants and yard decorations. I had a building that needed a lot of work to prep prior to having it painted. the building is also 100% occupied. and even with that I had no tenant complaints which is a huge deal. instead I received lots of compliments on the well behaved and professional staff working on this project. the owner Robert Myers is very reasonable and a man of his word. it was very easy to communicate with him throughout the process. to top it all off the building looks amazing. it's now the best looking building on the block now. WOW! Is all I can say! From the day of the estimate to the finish of the job, absolutely amazing!!!!! I went through about 15 plus calls for estimates and about half called back. Of that half, Robert was not the highest by any means, but not the lowest and you get what you pay for! This coming from me worked as a cement contractor for a few years. Having said that, what stood apart, is that he is also a general contractor and we needed some facia board wood replaced as well as trim wood, and he knew how to do it right and did it RIGHT! NONE of the others could say that or include it so he actually in the end came up lower than most that being taken into consideration. The attention to detail was beyond amazing, CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH not only on the job, but also the clean up! It was like they were never there almost which is unheard of! Robert went over every single paint option and also each SHADE of each option and trim option and came with a checklist on the first day that matched mine and more! His crew is SO nice and a pleasure to have them at our home actually. Such CARE taken to our landscaping and garden and our home overall. AMAZING! I hired these guys to do a small job in Woodland Hills. When they showed up Robert asked if I had an extension ladder handy that they could borrow. Three guys were on the roof and I asked them to hand me a cable TV wire that was cut and left in the area that needed painting. They wouldn't do it. I had to get my own ladder and reach it down. I asked Robert to send me an estimate for a follow up job which he did. When I called to schedule the work he played dumb and pretended not to know what I was talking about. He eventually said they could do it next month, then the next month, and the next and on and on. After about eight months of stalling Robert says "I'm not going to beat around the bush. I have bigger jobs" (so why did you waste so much of my time then) He did not honor the estimate or complete the work. Don't waste your time with these guys. read more

Awesome results. Had exterior of the house painted and could not be more pleased. The process started with a power wash of the entire house and included repairing cracks, applying primer and 2 coats of paint. I checked on materials and only high quality premium products were used. Robert's crew always showed up on time and worked diligently through the day. They were very polite and always answered any questions or concerns I had. Robert himself showed up daily to check on the work. Have never had a contractor do that. I was particularly impressed with how well my many French windows and doors now look. Also I have an old (approximately 95 years old) iron fence which is beautiful but was on the verge of falling apart from rust. Robert's men were able to save it. I have already recommended him to a friend who is a real estate agent and often has clients who need to have exterior or interior painting. I would not hesitate to refer R&S to anyone. Robert's crew painted the exterior of my house. My house had lots of rotted wood on both the house and detached garage. His crew replaced the damaged wood on the house and also replaced the wood exterior of the garage with stucco. They installed rain gutters as well, and applied sealant to the roof to prevent this damage from happening again. The prep work was outstanding! They did a great job! The crew arrived promptly every morning on or before 7:00 a.m. and were ready with all the materials they needed. They worked diligently all day and were always responsive to my questions. My wife and I feel incredibly lucky to have found R & S Painting. We just bought a new house and when my friends and I moved a couch into one of our rooms, we caused a lot of paint damage to the walls and door frames. Robert and his guys did a great job at painting my house and installing gutters. When the paint color we chose first went up-we hated it! We called Robert and we gave him some more choices and he came the next day and put those samples up for us to consider. He repainted as soon as we made our (second!) final choice! They repaired stucco and woodwork as well. His guys were prompt, professional, and very nice. They were very detail oriented and were very careful. From when I first contacted Robert Myers through completion of this small (1+ day) job, I was completely satisfied, not only with the excellent work of his 2-man crew, but with the professional way that he made the proposal and supervised the job as well. We had three bids, all from licensed painters, and they were all rather close in amount for the same work. The deciding factor was the comfort level that Robert brought and his credibility as to how to deal with the paint issues over the long run. The work involved fixing what another (unlicensed) painter did about a year prior, including scraping and sanding blistering and peeling paint down to bare wood, then filling, priming, and painting; and patching and painting a retaining wall that had been water-damaged from a leaking irrigation valve. Decided to go with R&S after a few bids and reviews. These guys were awesome! Their bid was more than fair as far as pricing went and the guys spent a week doing a very detailed job! My home looks great and I am very happy I chose Rob and his company. They were total pro's all the way through. Can't believe what a shoddy business this is. Robert gave us a quote and we wrote him a check and we were all set to go. The Monday prior to the week he was supposed to start he contacted us and told us he would need an 8-day delay. I was very upset but we granted him the extension. Then he decides he doesn't want to start because we're already mad at him so he tells us he's going to send our deposit check back. We had already gotten 3 estimates before him - his was the highest but we had good feelings about him. Now we've contacted our next best estimate and they are ready to go now. Just frustrating at the unreliability of this business. Who does business like this? I really think the motive for him cancelling our job was that he had received another job in our same timeframe that was either bigger or would make him more $. Really slimy business practices if you ask me. I just hope we get our deposit check back because Robert sounds like a real flake. read more

Robert's crew painted the exterior of our entire house and repaired some damaged wood. He is very gentle and does not use high pressure or hard sale/scare tactics. We had very a bad texcoat job on the house from a previous owner that was cracking and peeling away. Robert found a way to repair what needed to be repaired and not cost us an arm & a leg as some other contractors were proposing. The job was finished from start to finish in 4 days as planned with only one additional charge for some rotted wood that was not noticed at first. I noticed a couple of areas that needed to be fixed after the job was complete and he came back to fix the areas without any problem. We were very pleased. His workers are very polite and willing to do whatever was asked. I have referred him to others and they have been pleased also. I would recommend him and will use him in the future. I called this company based on a flier that came in the mail. Robert had good reviews so I invited him to give me an estimate. I chose R&S because Robert was such a very nice person and he gave me a long list of references. I called a few and all gave glowing reports. I liked the detail in which he described the way the paint job would be done. I chose his company out of the 5 I interviewed. His price was smack in the middle. His painters arrived and were all very nice. Whereas other companies I interviewed discussed bringing in an Andy Gump toilet, this company did not. I can only assume they eliminated in the bushes, were dehydrated, or had huge bladders. Needless to say it took several phone calls and many return visits before I could live with the resulting paint job. I had used R&S several times in the past and always found their work to be good, so I decided to hire them to paint my house. What a huge disaster. His crew had no idea what they were doing. They did not prep any of the woodwork prior to painting it. They killed my plants, urinated in my yard when the restroom in the house was available to them, got paint on my outdoor furniture including a custom made overhead awning, got paint on my wood deck and did a terrible job. When I called Robert after about two days of work, he told me it would all be okay. It was not. Things continued to get worse and my property was being damaged. After about 4 or 5 days, he finally sent someone else from his crew to take a look. It was finally acknowledged at that point that there was a problem. the job was taken over by another crew who spent many days and hours trying to fix the problems. Robert did try to make amends by agreeing to paint my deck for free (which was covered in paint that his crew dripped everywhere), but I continue to spend thousands of dollars fixing my walkways, damaged pavers, etc from damage that was caused by their pressure washer trying to clean up the mess the first crew left behind. This was totally preventable and should never have happened. Avoid a mess like this at your house. read more

I interviewed 3 different contractors before selecting R & S Painting Plus. Why did I choose them? The price was fair and they could do the stairway repairs I needed which was great because that meant I could stay with one contractor instead of dealing with multiples. Robert, the owner, was gracious and polite. He made appropriate suggestions and identified options. Turns out the wood supporting the stairs inside the stucco walls were completely rotted, but that made me feel even better with my choice as I knew R & S could handle the additional work. The result was amazing! The crew led by Rudy was wonderful! Showed up ontime except for one day that got mixed up and the jobsite was cleaned up every day! All of R & S, owner and crew, were patient during the process. FYI, my home is a duplex in Carthay Square built in 1930. Glad the work is done but if i had to do it again?
