Robert did an incredible job of our kitchen remodel. We had several bids on the job, but Robert was the only one who looked at and really understood our architect's plans - to the extent that he made suggestions that our architect incorporated into the design, and despite the fact that the remodel entailed complicated work passing from our basement to the second floor. And yet his bid was very competitive, making it easy to choose him. Robert's attention to detail was truly second to none. He has a really high bar for his work and for the finished product. There were some challenges in remodeling our home from the 1920s, but he was undaunted. He was inventive and intelligent. Far from "cutting corners," there was a few things that he definitely did the harder way in order to have a better final result. Our new kitchen is stunning. His communication was extremely clear and he was always available. He wasn't the kind of contractor who hires others and pops in to check on their work; he was there day after day doing the work himself and checking in with us frequently. He remodeled our whole condo (kitchen cabinets, bathroom, floors, counter tops, plumbing in the kitchen, electrical lighting). INTEGRITY / REASONABLY PRICED: Robert is a man of integrity! He delivered quality work with or without me onsite. Someone you can fully trust - not just his quality work but also with pricing. QUALITY WORK / DETAIL ORIENTED / THOROUGH: This is the first time I have worked with a general contractor that has very high standards. He is perfectionist and he will not take short cuts with his work. He is a breath of fresh air to work with, he is thorough and makes sure we are aligned. He discusses details and clarifies things that are unclear so that there is no miscommunication. He takes the initiative to correct things when he sees things will not work. Example: He fixed the pipe/plumbing in the kitchen to be able to install the garbage disposal and dishwasher, when that was not originally planned. RESPONSIVE / PATIENT: Robert responds in a timely fashion via text or email. I can sense he is old school because he has manners and very cordial. There is always add-ons in projects and he is the most patient, great listener contractor I have ever worked with and I've remodeled rental homes 4x. PROFESSIONAL / ACCOMMODATING: He never complains, he is accountable and takes pride in his work. He is flexible and tries to accommodate despite his very busy schedule. He actually was fully booked but he tried to accommodate our project. HONEST: He will tell you what he cannot do and can do. Example: Disposal of the dishwasher, he told me that since we bought the new dishwasher from Lowes that they will dispose at a cheaper price. He will deliver what he promised - ALL of IT! He cleans up after his work. WE ARE BLESSED: Overall, Robert did an excellent job. I had 25 applicants that wanted to rent the condo (in the fall season) all because Robert delivered quality work. Robert Bastion of Bastiao Construction remodeled all three of our bathrooms and we are so very happy with his work.  We had several bids and were referred to Robert by a neighbor who had the same work effort completed.  Robert was prompt in his response and thorough in his detailed estimate with reasonable costs.  This work was done during the COVID-19 pandemic and holidays.  They were very careful while doing their tasks. Robert's completed work on the 3 bathrooms: Bath 1 - Installation of new shower pan, quartz shower walls, shower plumbing, safety grab bars, shower door and replacement of new toilet. Bath 2 - Removal and replacement of bathtub, new bathtub quartz walls, bath/shower plumbing and bathtub glass panel. Master bath- Installation of new Silestone quartz vanity top and tile trim with new double sink plumbing and drains.  Robert converted our deep bathtub to a spacious double shower with beautiful porcelain tile, decor tile niche, corner tile seat, safety grab bars and a stunning shower floor tiled with stones from Indonesia.  New rain head/spray shower plumbing and a sliding double shower door were included. Robert also recommended Lucy Walker of Modello Tile in Pacheco who was a godsend in helping me pick out the Master Bath materials for our beautiful bathroom. I had spent hours going from place to place trying make a decisions on materials. In less than 2 hours with Lucy, it was done. Was hesitant to work with Robert on remodeling our bathrooms and kitchen cabinets because the reviews weren't as recent but glad we did - his work is great and he's wonderful to work with. He's professional, detail oriented, thorough and does good work. I appreciate his pride in his work- he wants to do the job the right way versus taking any shortcuts. For ex. One of the bathroom floors needed replacing and beyond just replacing the tile, he leveled out the entire floor - no more squeeky floor! We have done a lot of updating to our home here in Danville and this company is one of the top company I've dealth with. I needed a deck built, after having a bad experience with a previous contractor I hired, I decided I need to find a contractor others have given good reviews on. I search the Diamond Certified website, the high rated companies there do not take smaller jobs like mine, building a deck. I searched Angies list. Thinking it seemed popular for services, I found that the list of decking/contracting companies were sparse, and lacked helpful reviews. Finally I turned to Bastiao, thinking I took the plunge, and I must say, thank you Yelp and thank you Bastiao Construction! As a wary first time homeowner, I am relieved to have found the Bastiaos. Not only did they did a good job, they were professional and on time, quite the opposite of a previous contractor I hired. How did I know they did a good job: + they covered my hardwood floors indoor during construction and cleaned up after they were done. + during the estimate, they asked all kinds of questions to ensure everything is what I expected and what they expect (attention to detail). + a proposal was filled out + they passed my guys freinds "inspection". I have a concerned freind who does a lot of DIY projects at home. This freind, is always suspicious and careful of all servicepersons. *rolls eyes*. Anyways after inspecting the deck, he gave surprisingly high marks. "The wood they picked was good" "They did a good job supporting the deck in the right places". And the final shocker, "They are doing a much better job than I could've." Well jee, I hope they do, they *are* professionals after all. They may charge a bit more than my cheap *ss would like but in the end, the price was totally worth the service and end result! Robert fixed my kitchen cabinet that has been slanted badly, I felt he is very talented to fixing things. He did various job in the house including installing new range hood. *EDIT: Last week, the kitchen cabinets came in... all 27 boxes! Unfortunately, the delivery guy did not call me one hour in advance, so I was not present to instruct them where to place the boxes. After work, Robert stopped by to count up the boxes to make sure the order was correct. If you live in the bay area, you know that it's been freezing. Robert helped me moved all the boxes in the garage so that my wife can still park her car inside... for only $200! I'm kidding,... he helped me out just because he is such a great guy. He really is. He calls you/texts you back when you need to reach him. He also read my previous posting and reminded me that he did ask me if I wanted him to pull the permit. The pro was that it would increase the home value. The con was that the property tax would increase. So, I am going back to my original posting and state that the bathroom project was a FIVE star job. Hands down. Right now, I am just excited about the kitchen. Hopefully, there are no damages to the cabinets and the project is within the budget. I will update when the job is completed. -------------------- I cannot believe that I have not written a review for Robert and Joe. I am very pleased with their work on my bathroom and I am hoping that they can help remodel my kitchen. They totally deserve five stars and the only reason I am not is because I wished they pulled a permit for the remodeling of the bathroom. Nonetheless, the bathroom is flawless and I have no complaints. Estimate: Very reasonable. Quality and professional work. They gave us cost saving ideas and worked within our budget. Customer Service: Very good. Robert will return calls, texts and emails. He and his father are very talented. The project started with painting my triplex. Robert did an excellent job of preparing the exterior and recommended very high quality paint. As the job progressed Robert discovered subterranean termites located in the front deck area and immediately recommended corrective action. Portions of the deck were rebuilt to prevent similar damage in the future. Roberts's keen eye also noted that damage had affected the fence around the triplex. The fence was replaced with quality redwood and with a very attractive design. Robert's pricing is competitive and craftsmanship is superb.
