This place has been around for years. During its heyday, I used to peruse it often during a time when I didn't drive and took the bus everywhere. I am not much of a fan of comic books, but I really enjoyed browsing around and sometimes bought movies and gifts there. It seems that times have changed since then. While their status as a great place to browse for comics has not changed, I found their choice in DVD's lacking and their choice of gifts was mostly limited to those associated with manga, which I am not a huge fan of. The customer service however, was solid. I was immediately greeted by someone in the store, who asked me to let him know if I needed help. He also make some solid recommendations. That said, it's a great place to go if you are on the hunt for comic books or manga related stuff. Unfortunately it is no longer my cup of tea so I likely won't be back. read more

This store rocks! I hit 2 other stores in Tucson on the hunt for Silver and Bronze Age books, and was disappointed to find little to nothing. I hit up R-Galaxy and was impressed to find a great selection of back issues including Bronze/Silver books at reasonable prices. I also picked up a couple of vintage die cast cars that I didn't know I was looking for, but there they were, still in original packaging- for a decent price. It did help too, that they were running a wicked sale...gotta love sale prices! Rick was friendly and helpful, I give this place 2 thumbs up! read more

I'll be the first to admit that this place doesn't look very impressive at first glance. It's really quite cluttered and it's a tight fit to get around the hodgepodge of comics, toys, CDs and DVDs. It's when you take a closer look at the selection in this place where you see the beauty. Tons of back issues and prices that are pretty reasonable too. It's an okay shop. I bought 3 posters and two mangas, which were supposed to cost about $24.50, since there were discounts. However, I paid $33 dollars for the items. I was not given a receipt either, so I couldn't do much. I'm unsure if I got cheated or if the cashier was bad at math. I'm also a bit disappointed in the store. It doesn't carry that much anime stuff, and it's kind of disorganized. read more

Went in today... the place is packed to the ceiling with all sorts of books, figurines, etc. 4 stars for that. 1 star for the lack of compassion. There was a handicapped guy trying to enter the store, but he literally couldn't move with his wheelchair with all the boxes and shit in his way. It was so uncomfortable to watch him struggle, that I even volunteered to help. I was shocked at the worker sitting behind the counter ignoring the whole thing... amazing. They are asking for an ADA lawsuit with this sort of attitude. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I have been in comic book stores for years, most of my life actually. This might be one of the worst, and that is saying a lot considering some of the places I've seen. The store makes no sense at all. There is little organization. There are Marvel figures next to anime and manga figures, and then mixed in with DC stuff. There are things up on high shelves that you can't really look at. And there seems to be no real focus for the store. The comics are in the middle, but they are old back issues with no real life to shopping them. There are also long and short boxes just shoved into odd places around the store. There is a new anime rental area in the back of the store, which is kinda cool, but half of them are VHS. They also added a big CD and DVD rack that takes up half the store's floor. The selection looks like 90s/00s, which is about the time that buying used CDs was cool. I asked about a new comic book that was out, and neither one of the people behind the counter could help me. I asked about a issue #2 for Paper Girls (which is only on its third issue) because they had #1 in the *new* arrivals. The girl didn't even know that it was on issue #3, and acted confused because she herself has a subscription to that book! Then I asked if I could buy a copy of Previews for December. If you don't know, Previews is put out by Diamond Distributors, the largest (and only) distributor of comics in the non-Asian world. They didn't have one, and *didn't know when they would get one*. Really? I worked in a comic book shop; that stuff comes in like clockwork, and you can't tell me when you will get one in? No wonder you don't know what's going on with your stock; you don't even know where the magazine you use to order comics will arrive at the store. Don't get me wrong, the people are nice, and they seem willing to help out. It just seems like the store has lost its focus. read more

The staff was usually pretty friendly and helped me out as necessary. I went here for years and their good customer service was consistent for all those years-- very important!!! So i recently went to sell some comics at R Galaxy. I explained to the owner my situation. I was looking to get a fair price for some comics i sold. The price was anything but fair. I allowed the transaction to take place so in good faith i could leave this review. I hope anyone that sees this message does not attempt to sell your comics to this business. The comics i sold him had a value of roughly 700 dollars maybe more and R-Galaxy paid me $120.50. Sir you know exactly who i am. I was hoping to be treated fairly but it was not even close. I know exactly what the value was for each comic. Do i regret selling my books yes. If i had the opportunity to get them back for the price he offered me yes. That said as i stated i had to let the transaction go through to warn future sellers to R Galaxy. Please shop around before you sell them to R-Galaxy. My hope is the owner sees this message and in the future he treats his customers more fairly. Its a shame because he has an amazing store. I will in fact tell all of my friends to stop doing business with R-Galaxy and anyone who reads, buys, or sells comics. All this being said i did go through with the transaction and i do regret it but it was all worth leaving this review. I will definitely never do business with R-Galaxy ever again. I even recommended customers to shop in his store all time. My friends and i have spent thousands of dollars in this store but never again. He baits you to see if you know what you have prior to offering you a price. I just played along acting like i did not know much. Sir in the future treat your customers fairly even if they do not know what they have. The comic community i would like to think is based on integrity and were almost family like. I wanted you to prove to me that you deserved my business, family, and friends. You lost more business than you gained by low balling my collection. To be fair the R-Galaxy has everything you pretty much need to fill gaps in runs and he has a lot of awesome titles. You can pretty much find any comic your looking for which is why i would recommend shopping there. The variety of comics is vast. I do recommend grabbing what you need there but be very weary selling anything there. Buyers paradise sellers nightmare. In all fairness i could not give a 1 star due to the comic book selection and how organized it was. read more

I've been going to this store for more than 20 years.The owners and staff are very helpful and completely honest. I've been in a lot of comic book stores all over the country and this one has the best staff (very good staff compared to any type of store actually). Very good stock on American and Japanese comics, video, and character goods. Has some hard to find and rare items. Prices are reasonable, with some real bargains here and there. read more
