He was paid to tear off the old roof, and put an new one on -- per the contract. When water started leaking in a bedroom closet he claimed he did not do that roof. Eventually, he said he only reshingled it, and admitted that flat roofs are not in his skill set. He would not have been hired had he said at any point that he cannot and does not know how to do flat roofs. At no point did he state that he was only putting shingles on the flat roof, nor that he would in anyway handle it differently. Further, nothing on the contract says such. He claimed "it does not say entire roof". When a partial refund was requested, he said he would wait till he's served-- boasting that a lawsuit will take a year. A few days after they finished with the roof, he was called back because something was visibly wrong with the back part. He admitted that they could have done a better job, and had them come back out to supposedly fix it. He literally said "it doesn't say entire roof" and could yet couldn't understand why I was yelling. Who would hire someone to do anything and expect that they only do half of it because it doesn't specify "entire". read more

I contacted R.K. Roofing to ask them to help with some minor roof repairs (gutters, vent stack pipe) and to ask them to assess the current condition of the roof. At every step of the way Jerry was responsive, communicative, and honest. I found R K Roofing online as I had some damage to my roof from a wind storm. I called Jerry on a Friday and he came out on the following Monday to provide an estimate. The damage to the roof was in need of immediate repair as there was snow being forcast in the next couple of days. Jerry made sure that he had his crew come out ASAP on Christmas Eve to provide temporary repairs before the snow arrived. While waiting for the snow to melt Jerry made sure that he was able to find roofing to match my existing roof and came back out to replace all the damaged roofing with the matching color. Had complete roof repaired and was very happy with new roof. Crew of three completed the installation over two days and work completed was excellent. Seemed to work good as a crew and were well organized and thorough in their work. Clean up was excellent after both days that the work was done. We definitely recommend RK Roofing! We were referred to them by our brother-in-law who used them a few years ago and was happy. We contacted Jerry just before the winter when we had some leaks in our roof. Jerry gave us a great price and he uses a high quality Owens Corning shingle, not a cheap one, so we decided to hire them to do our roof. Since winter was starting, Jerry sent out his guys to look for the leaks and patch the leaking areas to get us through the winter, which helped. We had no leaks in the winter. Jerry communicated with us regularly during the winter and before the spring to stay in touch and to schedule the job. We did have to reschedule a couple of times due to rain. But then at the next weekend that was good for me and my husband, RK came out and completed our roof in less than two days. He did say that the cost did not include replacing any plywood that may be needed, but they wouldn't know until after they removed the old roof. To be honest, I wondered if that was going to be a way for them to add more to the total cost and increase his price, BUT there were only a few small spots that needed repaired (my husband checked and made sure) and only a few dollars were added to our bill, which I was fine with! This means he was upfront and honest and did not have "hidden costs." His guys were very nice, both the guys who came before winter to check in our attic to find the leaks, and the guys who came to do the job. And when people on this review say they left the job site immaculate, they weren't kidding! There were no shingles or nails, and they carefully moved and replaced our deck furniture. We did wonder if his good price was "too good to be true," or "you get what you pay for," but neither of those are true with RK. We are very happy with the workmanship and professionalism of both Jerry and his guys. Oh, and I never thought I would care either way how a roof looks, but ours looks so nice! This contractor is ok for doing the job. But when your roof leaks and ruins your ceiling. He is not responsive. He says he will fix it and then after several months of dragging his feet. He sends people to paint over the damage and even they would not paint over it saying it needs replacement. He tells me to get bids and when I do. He says it's an act of god and I should call my homeowners insurance. He seems to be out of the country frequently also. Beware of this company. Then he just quits answering his e mail or phone. read more

I got 3 quotes to tear-off and replace my roof and RK's was the most competitive (as a single mother I don't have much cash to spare). They did an EXCELLENT job and I would recommend them to anyone. Jerry had to deal with my townhome association which is not an easy task - they only allow one type of shingle and require a very detailed proposal before issuing a permit. The guys who did the actual work were also very friendly and accommodating (at one point they had to move their truck and equipment so a carpet cleaner could get in through the garage). The professionalism Jerry and his crew showed to our home is beyond what customer service should be. A few years ago, we had a roof issue with a detached garage at a rental property.
