USE SOMEONE ELSE -so you don't have to add watching the funeral home to the list of things to do…read moreduring a tragic time. We used McQuire Funeral Home for my mothers cremation. We had a memorial service elsewhere, so this was to be the only service provided. They offered a 3rd party for the programs and to place the obituary ad in the Washington Post. When we got the funeral program I immediately noticed McQuire had added their logo to the program w/out asking. It just showed up in the 1st round shared w/ us by the printer. I thought that was tacky but was able to have that removed. I should have taken this as a sign. We sent them the final copy of the obituary and the almost $700 for the fee to the Washington Post. However, this time we were not able to see/approve the obit before it was printed. I can't put into words the disgust I felt when I saw the funeral home had added "Funeral services at McQuire" to the final obituary. Besides the fact that we weren't asked if this was ok, it wasn't true. It would have been misleading for anyone looking for information about the memorial. This is greedy and shameful. They offered my father $16 as compensation for the pain their greed caused during the darkest time of our lives and for something that can't be fixed. To further confirm the integrity of this place, I'd like to add that we considered using them for limo services but their fee of $675 for a 9 seat car was over $200 more then the other estimates received. The last thing you want to be worried about when you lose a love one is being taken advantage of the funeral home. Try whichever other one that pops up in this screen instead. Your chances of not adding pain on top of pain will be better.

About as sensitive as an impacted wisdom tooth…read more We used this place recently when my mother-in-law passed away and while clearly, we won't be in a position to use them again, I would warn off someone also looking to handle the passing of a loved one unless your a devotee of Marx, Groucho not Karl. We were supposed to form up in a set aside space outside a cemetery to drive in. I was the first to arrive and parked a little behind the designated sign and waited. A little while later the hearse pulled up and parked in front of me. I walked up to make sure it was for my mother-in-law and was told "you're gonna have to move back" apparently although we were in a lane set aside for this and clearly with enough space, she'd parked there, she wanted to be next to the sign, not a car length in front of it. Beyond the no obvious need for this, it was said in harsh tones without any expression of sympathy to what was clearly a part of the grieving family and delivered with all the solicitude of a waitress in a greasy spoon asking "what do ya want?" It went downhill from there. Almost literally. As the service provided a driver for the hearse and that was it. They did not supply pall barers so the grieving family was suddenly called up to manhandle the casket from the hearse to the grave side with no warning or training beyond -"grab hold and pull." As people stumbled, literally under the load and one person tripped over the edge of the open grave I had visions of someone precipitating my mother-in-law into the ground. Mouring families are in no shape to think out things like this, they, thankfully, do not have experience in this. It literally is this place's business to think of things like that "Will you need pall barers?" And failing to do so shows exactly how badly run it is.

My mother's funeral was held two days ago, and meanwhile I spent a lot of time on the phone three days ago with Joyce's colleague Betsy. Marche is very professional and was extremely patient with my mother and I who both were emotional going through this funeral planning experience for the first time. It definitely feels weird actually writing a Yelp review for a Funeral Home but if my recommendations are used for valuable opinion of my taste in food, amenities, and more happy services... please take my advice for a funeral home. In the event that you ever need one I wouldn't look any further than Morris Funerals and Cremation Services. Everything was reasonably priced and lower than other funeral homes in Maryland that quite frankly to me seemed to be "milking" patrons due the surge in deaths from this killer Coronavirus. They went above and beyond considering the circumstances all while following state mandates and social distancing. Hopefully I personally won't have to visit them anytime soon but I know where to direct someone when they do.

I was working with a different funeral home who had no idea what they were doing, and Katherine and her sister Amelia came in as lifesavers - truly. Katherine was incredibly competent, knowledgeable and most importantly compassionate. When I first reached out to her, she didn't think she would be able to help me, but she kept trying to even after we had hung up the phone. When she reached back out, she had solutions, options, and knew exactly what needed to happen. Carewell was exactly what we needed, and my family and I are incredibly thankful to have found them. If they went above and beyond for a complicated case, I know that they will do the same for everyone else they work with. I cannot recommend Carewell more highly. Also if the removal person shows up to your residence to remove your loved one dressed inappropriately with a hoodie on and casual baggy pants like he's going to a ball game "as a representative of the funeral home" send him away call the funeral Home or another funeral home and "demand" someone that will respect your home and your family that will show up dressed appropriately with at least dress slacks and a decent shirt casual or dress shoes and don't accept them requesting your help to remove your loved one from your residence they should come prepared with two people remember you're paying for this proper service and you tell the funeral home what time to come to your residence to pick up your loved one if you're waiting for other family members to come to your home before your love one is removed from your residence generally they come automatically within 90 minutes but if you need more time let them know when you call to notify them of the passing of your loved one. .

If you are helping someone with planning while they are grieving or suffered a loss it is very confusing to just sit down and look at a paper with no real guidance or direction. The other issue I had was we paid for a service and it wasn't provided in the time that we previously discussed. Other than that the workers are very respectful upbeat and polite. A little on the pricey side but still decent.
