This journey began about two years ago. No...seriously, stay with me…read more.. We adopted a little five month old puppy from the St. Louis Humane Society two years ago. She dug a big hole in the middle of our carpet. I love her so much, I didn't care, however it would have to be fixed. We threw a rug over it. Okay, fast forward to next year and hubby has some health issues that kept us busy for a long time. Fast forward six months and we realized that we still have a hole in the carpet. We decide it's time to do something. Of course we decide that..."Hey, if we're going to do this, we might as well....." You know how it goes. We start visiting carpet places and places that have carpet; people came and measured the house. We never hear back from one place and the other place kept calling us with different figures every time and laminate where the carpet goes and carpet where the laminate goes. After the third time, I'm thinking; do you really want someone installing a whole bunch of flooring if they can't even get the paperwork right? So...we give up and buy a new rug for the hole. Fast forward three months and we are in the Edwardsville area looking around and we see Archview flooring. We park and look at each other. Do we really want to try this again? We both sigh and go in. I'm expecting things to go south pretty quick. Then we meet Bryan. Bryan is friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk with. He seems to understand exactly what we want and our budget. It is like talking to a good friend. Archview has all the top brands and lots of samples to take home; we took home lots! Later Bryan comes and measures the house. So far so good. When we go back in later to really get serious about picking out our floors, Bryan goes over pricing again. We actually got a little carried away with what we wanted to do, so we had to shave a few things off, which ended up being a good thing. Once we settled on what we wanted, Bryan put in the order and we got on the install list. We could not believe it! We had actually ordered new laminate and carpet! Bryan made the whole process easy and painless! Woo Hoo! Now, our sights are set on the install. The day arrived and three men showed up right on time. They were professional, friendly and courteous. Seriously, a bunch of great guys. They respected my antiques when they moved things too, which I appreciated. You could tell they knew what they were doing! The install went perfectly! I love my floors! I love walking around on my new laminate which by the way is from Armstrong Audacity and it looks like real wood; it's gorgeous! The carpet is beautiful and the white laminate by Shaw in the bedroom turned out wonderful; just like I dreamed it! Before the installers left, one of them even fixed a spot on our entryway laminate that they hadn't even installed. These guys worked hard and did a spectacular job! This journey could not have gone better, once we found Archview that is! If you are reading this and you need new flooring; Go to Archview Flooring! I hit all the big box stores and even checked the web and could not find one I liked at a price I wanted to pay. I was at a point, where I was giving up and deciding not to have a Christmas tree. To my surprise, I found the perfect tree at a mom and pop hardware store. I came to St Peters, to pick-up some lawn bags and left with lawn bags and a new Christmas tree at a sale price that was cheaper then any of the other places I shopped. Lesson learned, shop local for the best service and value.

Do not recommend…read more After using Herzog Kitchen and Bath for a successful kitchen remodel many years ago, we turned to them when it was time for a master bath remodel. Herzog was so off the mark with a design plan that we ended up hiring a designer outside of their company. At this point we were still wanting to use them because the contracting work in our kitchen was well done and we expected the same level of attention to our bathroom so we stuck with them. We had also signed a contract that would allow them to keep $10,000 if we backed out. Touching base with Deb and Heather proved difficult on most occasions and was even a joke openly laughed about with sub-contractors who couldn't get them to answer their phone. After the project was finished (not on time) by Herzog, the grout in our shower failed after two months... completely came out of the shower floor. Ryan wanted to use an epoxy grout and after assuring my husband and I that the color of the grout would match the original color and taking out the grout wouldn't chip our tile, Ryan put in the wrong color epoxy grout and chipped nearly every single floor tile all along each edge. He also didn't remove all of the original grout on the floor so we had two-toned grout at this point. After 1 week this grout peeled out in our shower floor... Ryan came back and assured us he had a new, heavier duty epoxy product that would be the right color, be super durable and look great. He told us he would do a test to make sure the grout was the correct color before applying it to the floor because once this grout was applied it wouldn't be able to be removed. He didn't do this. He told us that if it was done incorrectly this third time he would remove the tile floor and replace it since removing the grout wouldn't be an option. We even agreed that he would order the floor tile just in case he needed it and so we wouldn't have to wait for it to arrive. We trusted him. We completely trusted him. We shouldn't have. Ryan applied this super heavy-duty epoxy grout and it was the wrong color. Much darker than the original. He also smeared the epoxy grout all over our natural finish stone tile which immediately plastisized our tile, made it shiny and slick... it basically ruined our tile. It was dangerous, it changed the quality of the tile and changed its coloring. Herzog and I tried multiple fixes to get this residue out of our tile and nothing removed the grout residue from our natural stone. They all agreed it looked bad and all agreed the color was wrong. They said they were sorry and wanted to get a rep from the company out to see the mess so they could be reimbursed for the work they were going to have to do replacing our floor. They wanted to blame the rep for their mistakes. The rep for the product agreed it was installer error, not product error and they would not reimburse Herzog. This was the point that Herzog said they would not replace our floor. Ryan had three colors of grout in our new floor, he had plastisized our tile with epoxy residue and he chipped almost every tile on our floor.... He didn't stand by his work and didn't keep his word. He stopped returning our calls and instead had Deb call us. She told us that we could "paint" the grout with a special paint and this was all they were willing to do for us. .. This product has a life of about 12 months (they had us call their rep to verify how great the product would be and this is what they told us) and would need to be redone by us on repeat for the rest of the life of our bathroom. This was Herzog's solution to a brand new $30,000 bath remodel that had been solely messed up by Ryan..... Fast forward 4 months and the grout on the shower walls is coming off and the orange backer board is showing through. Herzog used to do good work, but they have dropped the ball. I would never recommend them to anyone and I am so sad we used them. All of this mess is documented with photos of anyone is interested in seeing them.

Herzog is the only company that gave us a design that we loved (we had a very narrow space to work with so other companies found it challenging to do anything different than what it already looked like). As far as pricing, they were middle of the road. We have learned from redoing almost our entire house to never go with the cheapest option, so we knew Herzog was the way to go, and we were correct. Heather helped us pick out colors, designs, and even helped us pick a kitchen table and new light fixture. We liked that it was the same person doing all the work and if he brought anyone in, he introduced us first so we knew who was going to be in our home. Ryan was also very sweet to our children and they still ask us when he is coming over to "build things". We were planning on just fixing up the kitchen so we could sell the house. Our realtor said that we could now get about $30k more for our house if we sold it, but we love it so much we might not move! Thank you Herzog! We love our kitchen, and so does everyone else!

The employees here are completely unprofessional and even rude…read more I went here twice recently when getting some closet organizing parts. On my first trip I was inquiring about whether they had more closet bracket holder than they had on their shelf. An older guy was helping me, and we started to walk towards what I was talking about, when he looked at someone else in the aisle over and asked them if they needed help. They proceeded to send him on a 15+ minute ordeal finding who knows what. Despite the fact that the guy was helping me first, he somehow just stopped and helped them. I left the store, and I don't think he even noticed. I went somewhere else, where they had what I needed in stock... But I needed to get wooden closet rod, so back to Aviston I went. The older guy had already looked up in the computer that they had it and it was sold by the foot. So on I went to the service desk to have them pull it. They only had one 18' length, and they told me I had to buy the whole thing. I didn't mind that, but then they told me that if I wanted it to be cut down the length I actually needed, it would be $5 "setup fee" on the saw and $1/ cut. $6 to cut a piece of 1" closet rod for something that's priced by the foot? No thanks, I just took the whole thing and let it hang 10' out my window. It took about 20 seconds to cut with an old jigsaw. I can understand not wanting to cut wood, but if you're a lumber yard and can't cater to simple requests without charging an arm and a leg, it's no wonder people in Highland go to the big box stores all around. I've had no issue getting Home Depot to cut various things for free. The service desk has a sign on it that reads "Buddy is old and gay" -- in plain customer site. It looks like a 4 year old wrote it, but I'm guessing it was a co-worker. I don't know who Buddy is, but I doubt he thinks the homophobic jokes are much funnier than I do. While I was at the service desk, I got out my credit card, at which point she said we had to go to the front register. I asked if I should bring the wood with, or if we'd need to go back to the service desk. She said she didn't care what I did. Literally in that tone. Rude rude rude. I used to go here 3x a week as a kid, and I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have shopped here so much if the employees were this rude and unhelpful back then. It's amazing this place manages to stay in business.
