The food was good old fashioned meat and side. Service was quick getting through the line and ambiance dated but authentic. They don't spend money on decorations but spend their time making good solid food. The sweet tea was proper sweet tea!!

While visiting my sister that lives in Alto she suggested we go here on April 16. She has been here many times and said it was very good. She was correct, food was very good. The waitress helped with our drinks to the table and came to check on from time to time. The building looks like it's been there for awhile but the food makes up for it. The cafe definitely gets the business with a lot of locals coming in. I would recommend the cafe if you're in the area.

Stopped to grab some breakfast before a morning hike at MT.Yonah and the food was delicious. Best biscuits ive in a long time!

I found Rabbittown Cafe through all the positive Yelp reviews. As others have already noted, this place works cafeteria-style. Line up, tell them which items you want on your tray, pay at the cashier. I arrived around 8am on a weekday with about 12+ people in line, but it still moved fairly quickly. This is straight, no frills, homestyle, Southern cooking. What makes this place great are the prices. Got a tray of country fried steak, two fried eggs, and potatoes for a little over $5. Rabbittown Cafe is definitely worth checking out if you're in the Gainesville area.

Stopped in on the way to NC for a bite. Not really at all what we were expecting. This is a cafeteria-style place where you grab a tray and some utensils and proceed through the line in a school lunchroom reminiscent way. The food itself isn't bad, but this place is all home cooking so if you're watching what you eat, probably better to stop elsewhere. My kids had fried chicken tenders, fries and Mac and cheese. Chicken was bland, fries were hot and crispy and neither one finished their mac and cheese. I ordered the chicken and dumplings, fried okra and field peas. The chicken and dumplings were good except there were no dumplings. Being from the south and it being one of my favorite dishes, I was very disappointed. The dumplings are a pretty important part of chicken AND DUMPLINGS!! The okra was crisp, but lacked flavor, but the peas were pretty good. Service was overall good. I'm sure there are things you come here and order every time and things that you just don't. There were lots of locals in there, so obviously there's something to this place. Maybe I should have gotten the meatloaf or roast beef or something, but we just didn't enjoy it as we hoped we would.

While heading back to FL from NC/Helen, GA, we wanted to find one more local, off the beaten path spot to try out. Rabbittown Cafe was on our route home and looked like they would have some good, country style cooking. The restaurant is located in a plaza with a large rabbit statue facing the road. I was curious about this statue and did some Googling. Apparently, Rabbittown used to be its own little sparsely populated hamlet before Gainesville absorbed it. Gainesville has a life size statue of a chicken since they are known for poultry, so the area formerly known as Rabbittown erected a much larger than life rabbit statue as a homage to their history (rabbit was a common meal of the residents during the time period.) I thought this was an interesting story behind the area. Anyway, back to the restaurant! The place is set up cafeteria style. They had several lunch entree options and multiple sides to choose from. I opted to try the chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and white gravy and mac and cheese. You also get a choice of bread so I chose a biscuit. My boyfriend got Salisbury steak as his entree and chose the same sides as I did. The staff members were friendly and the line moved pretty quickly. The biscuits here are huge and tasty. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the white gravy had a yummy, peppery taste. The mac and cheese was also good. The chicken tenders were a bit bland, but juicy and had a nice crunch. My boyfriend enjoyed his Salisbury steak as well. They also open early to serve breakfast and those options sounded tasty as well. The meals are very inexpensive also. We paid around $15 for two meals including tip and that also included our beverages. I even ended up with leftovers since the portions are large. If you're in the area, Rabbittown Cafe is definitely worth stopping in to for a yummy meal.

We were visiting from California and this was our first stop. It's cafeteria style where you get a tray and go through the line and tell them what you want. Atmosphere: very casual and welcoming Service: Excellent! Waitress knew we were from out of town and welcomed us with a smile and even gave us some great facts about the town Food: Fresh and delicious. Everything was amazing. Their biscuits were the best! As well as their beans. Can't wait to go back!

If you are looking for a home cooked reasonably priced breakfast - Rabbittown Cafe is your place! My husband has been to this location several times, and has been wanting me to give it a try! The restaurant is located in a strip mall, and is cafeteria style. So many yummy breakfast choices (biscuits, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, gravy, etc). Stand in the line and let the friendly staffers know what you would like (there is a menu on the wall). We arrived just before a crowd, but the line does move quickly. Food is pretty good, and is definitely reasonably priced. Oh, tell the kiddos to look around and see all the rabbits in the restaurant (not live ones of course). There is also a giant concrete rabbit in the parking lot).

I rarely get to indulge in what I call southern comfort food. My husband is from CA so he isn't a fan so when I saw this cafe it was like my vehicle just drove right up to the front door! They had plenty on the menu which was written on a dry erase board. I saw turkey and dressing and planned on ordering it but was super bummed when I did so and the sweet lady told me they didn't have it that day. Oh well. I went for the baked chicken. It was seasoned well, not a lot of salt which is great. People tend to lean more towards dark meat because white meat can tend to dry out. Not this breast! It was moist all the way through. I was super impressed. The green beans and cheesy potatoes didn't stand out but they didn't disappoint either. The best part about this meal...IT WAS $5.35 AFTER TAX!!! Are you kidding me? I quickly handed my card before she could change the price . Bet your bottom I'll be back. I hope they have turkey and dressing the day I show up. I have a feeling it is going to be fantastic. read more

I have been coming to Rabbitown Cafe since 2018. I have always loved their food. I went today for lunch and it was not the same. The cake I bought was actually hard from being stale. I would have loved to return it but I am on my lunch break and cannot leave again. The food was just okay. Did they change owners or something? Why has the food gone down hill? read more

This place has got great food at great prices! $6.70 for a large one meat 2 sides and a drink! Get 1/2 & 1/2 on meat portions. Best chicken n dumplings around. Best greens around. Best green beans too! A lil disappointed with the corn bread flavor...but the food is well worth every penny. Oh yeah..the peach cobbler...dayummm. !! Try it!! The roast beef...is perfect. read more

It's truly a great place to eat Fonteyn food it's packed and the staff are friendly. Place is small and tables are old but that's what makes this little spot what it is and the prices are cheaper then a drive thru very low for healthy food. I believe it's foreign owned but they got it right. read more

Love this place! Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prices are very affordable and they have big portion. I like the pepper stake, bacon (best bacon I've had), chicken tender...etc. we come here every time we are in Georgia. Rabbit theme is also their restaurant style, you can find a lot of rabbit decorations here while eating here! read more

Good, but not quite a five star. I had Chicken 'n Dumplings. Lots of large pieces of chicken and excellent dumplings. But the Collard greens were extremely salty - why or why do restaurants use so much salt. A little brings out flavor - too much and people with high blood pressure (most of the over 40 crowd) can't eat it. My wife had catfish nuggets - they were pretty greasy and as a result, the batter mostly came off. Hushpuppies were good. So - yea - I'll go back, I'll just learn what they do well and what to avoid. Breakfast looked interesting - may have to try breakfast sometime. read more

So first time going to Rabbittown Cafe this morning with my beautiful wife. I must say the food is superb! The service was excellent. You get a lot of food for the price and the best part is it taste great. It is basically like a cafeteria style restaurant. The food and portion size is nothing like any cafeteria I have ever eaten at! I still cant believe the food we got for like 11 dollars. You will not leave here hungry. Looking at going back for lunch or dinner. Best bacon ever not sure what kind or what they do to the bacon but truly the best bacon my wife and I have ever had. read more

Oh, man, these biscuits! I had one with white gravy and an egg for about a $3 breakfast. Plenty of hot coffee in cups to go if you like. Cafeteria style serving was a bit unexpected, but no biggie, really. Make sure you come on Sunday to see Cody. Super warm, friendly and kind service! read more

Loved this place! I just love local small town places to eat and this cafe did not disappoint! Very easy to fine. The parking lot was full so we were a little nervous. But the line moved quickly and the staff was super efficient! It is a cafeteria style setup. You stand In line and order your food. I wanted over easy eggs and they cooked those fresh. I had over medium eggs, grits, potatoes grilled smoked sausage and a biscuit. Like I said my eggs were cooked fresh to order. The sausage was great. The biscuits are huge! Everything was great. They have a coffee station set up to our your own coffee and the server comes around often to refill and take plates. We will be going back tom morning on our way back home read more

Excellent food and excellent prices. It's have to find a breakfast this good for this great of a price. If you have been to Commerce Country Cafe and lived it, then you will love it here. As I understand the owners are related and the menus are almost exact. I just wish they could cook this well and leave the calories out.... I would be there every day read more

Café format takes getting used to but the friendly and extraordinarily diverse crew made it easy to learn. Regular customers chimed in to help out too! I've been going here for quite some time now. The food is only OK. I really wish that they were put a little more seasoning in the food. The only reason that I continue to go back is because my elderly mother likes bland food. The staff is so so. I hope someone tells them to use a little more seasoning. read more

I had high hopes for Rabbittown Cafe but overall was disappointed by the food. Atmosphere was what I expected so no real issues there and the service was very friendly. The "home cooking" was where the real issue was. The collard greens were tough and not good. Macaroni and cheese was overcooked and mushy. The chicken tenders were the best thing I had. I will say the sweet tea was very good. Overall, just not a good food experience. All that said, the prices are extremely reasonable so we may give this another chance at some point. read more

Great breakfast buffet with special order pancakes that are light fluffy and delicious. A grown man who can eat three of them ought try out for Falcons in Flowery Branch. Big food is the deal here. Order bacon with your pancakes and soon as not you'll get 1/2 lb or better. They specialize in chicken fingers here and sell o lot of the crispy fried boneless chicken breast. As Mickey Mantle once said, "to get a fresher piece of chicken you'd have to be a rooster". Prices are reasonable and service is agreeable. They offer in uniform and senior discounts. read more

The real deal for a small town southern meal. The service is friendly and they call you hon. The veggie plate was fresh and healthy, and not swimming in fat. This hole-in-the wall is a must if you're passing through Gainesville around breakfast time. My favorite? Homemade biscuits, brown gravy (like my dad used to make), scrambled eggs, and what has been nicknamed Mount Bacon. Servings aren't small here, you'll eat breakfast and be good to go well into the evening for under $6. Service is quick and friendly, and the food is always rib-sticking good. read more

I dont know what happen to this place but its gone down hill .I stood in line to get my dinner to get to cashier for him to walk away then another cashier open and i got stuck waiting in line again behind people who were behind me .The seniors i guess they choose to be rude to and the food not good any more so done i got better things to do than keep waiting lines and long one..The food hadnt been as good . read more

Rabbittown cafe was great. The diner is cafeteria style, so there's no delay in being served. We purchased two 3 vegetable plates and one soda for a total of $8.00. (The regular plate is 4 veggies). The breakfast looked really good, but I was in a panic about gaining a few pounds, so went the vegetable route. read more

This is a very popular location with the locals. It's cafeteria style. When you enter you see a board with lots of different mains with a price. Most are from $2.90 to $3.10. Dont get your heart set on any one of these because when you get in line you will see which of them is served today. Below the menu board is a sandwich board sign with prices for a regular main plus 2, and a senior main plus 2. I asked if there was an age requirement for senior and she said no. I presume its a smaller serving. My last time there was off hour, about 4:30pm and everyone had the senior plate. Most were seniors at that hour and the more affordable price helps attract them. If you go at lunch the place is packed with working folk and tables are pretty much full. Not everything is 4 star. Its hit and miss, but the prices are great, and a gal kept going around constantly to make sure everyone was ok. So an extra star for that. It appears most customers are regulars. Its 0.6 miles east of 985 and in a small strip right after the Chevron station. Its open for breakfast lunch and dinner but not late in the evening and closes at 2pm on Sundays. I think its good for bargain seekers. If you like new trendy places, or upscale dining this is not it. It more like a basic 60,s cafeteria. read more

My fiancé went yesterday to this establishment and ordered us some biscuits I stayed in the car. As he walked out the building I noticed he was upset he told me a customer in line in front of him bumped him as he was leaving. Now this wasn't a average bump he bumped him so hard my fiancé has a scratch on his leg! Even the worker in the building saw the incident but she didn't report it she laughed and told him not to worry about it. My fiancé is a well respected African American man his brother is in the nfl and he has done so much for Gainesville and for a white man to bump him for nothing at all is disgusting! We will not be eating there again you guys have lost our business. He was a paying customer who doesn't deserve to be treated that way. Racist community read more

Breakfast would be the only thing I would suggest here. Go early because they are usually full or order ahead to take out. The service is kinda hit / miss. Ambiance? We'll mostly locals, very casual wear, nothing much to write home about unless you take pictures of the BIG RABBIT. read more
