We stayed on site here for a wedding and had a fantastic time. The food was AMAZING. The staff was extremely friendly and we had a blast with all of our friends! There were constant bon fires, a pool to hang out at and tons of open space to explore. We loved it!

The accommodations were wonderful. We stayed in the main lodge, room 8. It was decorated with beautiful prints and eclectic objects. The bed was king sized with a good quality mattress and clean sheets, bedding and pillows. The shared living spaces included a full kitchen, lounge, bar and 1/2 bath. The atmosphere was whimsical with interesting artwork and carved objects from around the world. Peaceful vibe! The grounds have running brooks, several fire pits, hammocks and furniture nooks to sit and relax to while away the hours in nature. You can hike to a summit with stunning views! There is a very clean in-ground pool to enjoy. Top off your stay with a 5 star meal in the Tavern. No disappointments and a very attentive staff. We will definitely go back and bring friends and family to enjoy the experience!

What a fun place! Stayed with a big group, and we enjoyed wandering the property and exploring. We were able to relax by the firepit after a nice day of skiing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Customer service was spot-on! Anything we needed was a text away! Really loved this unique, comfy spot!

Beautiful setting--lovely grounds and hiking along a brook to spectacular waterfalls. Charming, rustic rooms and relaxed atmosphere at the lodge with good food and really helpful, friendly owner and staff.

Expensive and strange. Good bar, limited menu and confusing tipping rules. On the fence with this one.

The only minus is all the seating with cushions could use a good deep steam cleaning. Everything else was All Plus's! Three of us were staying in a room. So it was a bit crowded. The room was beautiful! The drinks in the refrigerator (different types of iced teas) were complimentary. Plus they had the real nice coffee maker - The Nespresso. Breakfast was also included and you went to the onsite cafe- provided your room number and we were all set. Right outside our room was two chairs in a table for enjoying outside. We got unlucky with weather our 2nd and final day / night were downpours. But The White Hart had Monopoly so that took up three hours of our time. If we would have gotten better weather they have a front lawn with many chairs and corn hole. Along with deck all around the hotel for playing board games or cards Hope we get to visit again soon!

ORIGIN: Hart is an old English word for a mature male deer,…read moreand a white hart is prominently represented in English folklore. The White Hart itself has some history. The building dates back to 1806, with use as an inn soon thereafter. LOCATION: The White Hart is located in the center of Salisbury, as for centuries, a great place to stop when crossing New England. The town and its surroundings are also worthy of being the destination, as there are many natural attractions, as well as cultural institutions in the vicinity. CONCEPT: Today the White Hart welcomes travelers and local residents alike, with sixteen rooms, two restaurants, a wide porch, and ballroom. There is something for everyone. EXPERIENCE: The White Hart has artwork scattered across the building. As I waited for a garden fundraiser and talk to begin, I walked through the entrance floor and marveled at the variety and number of prints on the walls. A reception was arranged in the bar/lounge area next to the ballroom. Many thoughtful details could be found in the cheese board display. Most unique and striking was the use of a vase of forsythia branches to cast dappled light on the table.

In the lovely town of Norfolk, CT with the Yale school of music and wonderful hiking trails, this inn is the perfect place to make your home base. Recently reopened under new ownership, each room is unique with its own style and decor. Every room has a beautiful (and comfortable) canopy bed and all bathrooms are outfitted with top of the line amenities (locally sourced soaps, and high end shampoos and lotions). Downstairs there is a spacious living room with teas and coffees (as well as an extensive selection of board games) and a wrap around porch that looks out on beautiful greenery. True to it's name, the bed and breakfast offers a delicious daily breakfast. You can place your order the night before and choose from a selection of healthy juices (made fresh), omelette, oatmeals, and healthy raw breakfasts (like a live coconut wrap). The owners of the place are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home.

This tiny inn is literally in the middle of nowhere, and there are less than 20 rooms, but it is perfect for an unplugged weekend getaway (although they do have free wifi) or a wedding, which is what we were there for. The layout is a tad confusing. The main inn is almost at the end of a tiny dirt road, but there is an "outhouse" of rooms closer to the entrance. I'm also not sure if there is an official restaurant or not because we missed breakfast and the wedding was catered by an outside company. The grounds are natural and beautiful -- like a well-manicured backyard complete with garden, fire pit and gazebo. Our room felt like my old bedroom in my parents' house, with a private bathroom. I truly felt like I was a guest in someone's home -- down to the communal iron and ironing board propped against the wall in the hallway. Given that this is a tiny inn, there are no newfangled key cards; they use old-fashioned keys, and our room was unlocked when we arrived. This normally would be sketchy, but in such a small, remote place, it didn't bother me. There is also no central air conditioning, but there are air conditioning units in all rooms along with ceiling fans. It was summer, so it didn't bother me in the least, but it didn't appear there was heat in our third floor "servants' quarters" room, and there was a space heater in the closet. There are extra blankets on the bed, and I'm sure heat rises, but it is something to be aware of if you are visiting during the New England winter. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. There are a couple of key points that prevent me from giving Wake Robin five stars. 1. The mattresses could use replacing. This too felt like my childhood bedroom where the mattress is 27 years old and hard as a rock. 2. The bathroom amenities, while all natural and eco-friendly, were a tad sparse. This curly-haired girl needs conditioner people! And while there were cotton balls, Q-tips and makeup remover pads, there were no tissues. Odd. 3. I understand TV isn't the priority, but a tiny 30-inch rear projection on an end table tucked under an eave? At least fake an entertainment center. 4. A pub would be adorable right off the lobby, offering simple sandwiches, salads and drinks. Overall, we had a lovely night at the Wake Robin Inn, and I would consider returning for a little weekend getaway. The nearby town centers are so quaint and worth exploring.

I was amazed at how beautiful the restaurant was and it used to be a house. It used to be a stable and then someone purchased it as their home. I learned that many years later the restaurant owners bought the property. The exterior was gorgeous, and the inside was beautiful too. The meal started off with a pre-amuse-bouche, sliced cucumbers with creme fraiche, and caviar. The pre-amuse bouche also included a date slice that had goat cheese and crushed nuts. For the amuse-bouche, we were given two very large white beans with a delicious green sauce and a red sprout. For the appetizer, I ordered the Caesar Salad and lobster pasta that I split with my mom. For the main course, I ordered the steak and short ribs. I then ordered the sorbet with mint tea. To say that the food was perfect would be an understatement. The lobster pasta was creamy and filling. The Caesar Salad was made just the way I like it. The salad dressing was also creamy and the anchovies were salty and delicious. I also loved the short ribs and steak. The steak was juicy and rare and the short ribs weren't on the bone but if they were they would have fallen right off. Our room was super charming -- the electric fireplace got a lot of use -- and the bed was extremely comfortable (I'm seven months pregnant and slept better in the bed here than I've been sleeping at home!) I also loved the thoughtful little touches, like the coffee and tea station in the dining room that included homemade cookies and a little bowl of chocolates for guests to dip into in the afternoons/evenings. Breakfast was excellent and came in courses, which was a fun novelty. Also, the elderly black lab in residence is a sweetheart (very unobtrusive and quiet, as befits a hospitality professional, but also a very polite receiver of enthusiastic head-petting for those so inclined). I've been actively recommending the Wainwright Inn to my friends and family, and it completely deserves the five stars on Yelp. (My only tiny criticism: I wish they offered actual shampoo and conditioner, instead of the combination two-in-one stuff, which left my hair pretty fried and hard to untangle. If you have much hair you should definitely bring your own conditioner to avoid my fate!)

Dinner at Stagecoach Tavern was utter chaos. The singular star is dedicated to the bartender & the…read moreburger my partner received. We came to RBL for a very specific concert. When we reserved our room, we purchased the dinner package, which included a three course dinner at Stagecoach Tavern. The website stated that gratuity was included in the package because "we have raised our prices to provide better wages for our staff." With the lack of a front desk & seemingly no internal system for keeping track of guests, this "package" proved to be difficult & frustrating to redeem. The staff didn't seem to to know about our 6:45 dinner reservation, let alone our dinner package. But eventually we were led to a table where we sat & waited. & waited. We waited so long, without anyone visiting our table to even take our drink order, that we had time to notice some disturbing things around us. 1. Lipstick stains on the cloth napkins. 2. Lipstick gunk on the water glasses. 3. Flies buzzing around everywhere. 4. Other patrons looking annoyed & restless. About 15 minutes into our sit, another couple was led to a table next to us. Then the server returned to take their drink order. Then they received their drinks. Then they ordered food. ... All before anyone spoke to us. At one point, we made note that they might know the owner. In that case, how embarrassing for Stagecoach Tavern to have a dining room full of restless guests & continuing to only dote on the customers they know personally. Bad practice. Finally, after about almost an hour of sitting, a very stressed bartender noticed us. He stopped to take our drink order, despite our table being very obviously out of his jurisdiction. He was out of breath & agitated, so we didn't think it was a good time to bring up our alleged "package." We just ordered "whatever can be made quickly," since we had a concert to get to. My partner ordered the burger. I ordered the fried fish. He was quickly on his way. Then the special table next to us received their food. Our table was still empty, except for the lipstick stained napkins, the lipstick gunked water glasses, & the flies. There was a table of 3 near us that had been already sitting when we arrived at Stagecoach Tavern. They were restless & clearly upset. When they finally got a chance, they flagged down the elusive server (who had still not visited our table) to ask for their food to-go. They couldn't wait any longer. We watched in horror as the server gave no explanation, no apology, & no discount to the table of 3 that was requesting their "fine dining" to-go because it was taking so long. After speaking with the table of 3, the server finally came to our table. It had been OVER an HOUR since we had been sat. She didn't realize that the bartender had been by, so she asked us what she could get us to drink. We told her that we didn't need to order anything, as we had already spoken with the bartender. I did request replacement water glasses, though. We also asked if our two entrees could be covered by our dinner "package" because we didn't have the time to wait for a three-course meal at this point. She said no. We asked her to check with a manager. The VIP table next to us had completely finished their meal & were waiting for the check, at this time. We didn't hear back from her & didn't receive new water glasses. Eventually, our drinks & food were dropped at our table by a member of the kitchen staff. My partner said the burger was phenomenal. The fried fish dish was a nice medley of flavors. I particularly enjoyed the unique blueberry/dill combination. It was, unfortunately, tedious to eat & not enough food. I knew I would still be hungry, but we certainly didn't have the time or patience to order anything else. The concert was due to begin at any moment, so I left the tavern to head over to the venue, leaving my partner with the unsavory job of settling the bill (thank you, love you.) Apparently they did eventually call it a wash, as our two drinks & two entrees tallied up to a total that was far less than what the dinner package could potentially include. My partner left a $20 bill on the bar for the bartender. After the fact, we were charged $185 for the dinner package that was supposed to be included in our room reservation. They included a $24 restaurant gratuity charge which really tied my knickers in a knot, considering their spiel about raising staff pay & included gratuity. Even if you build your own three course dinner by ordering the most expensive starter, entree, & dessert off the menu, you still won't tally up a $185 bill. The dinner package is a scam. After repeated attempts to contact their customer service (again, there's no front desk) we finally received a refund for the dinner package. What a disaster. Where is management?
