We stayed on site here for a wedding and had a fantastic time. The food was AMAZING. The staff was extremely friendly and we had a blast with all of our friends! There were constant bon fires, a pool to hang out at and tons of open space to explore. We loved it!

The accommodations were wonderful. We stayed in the main lodge, room 8. It was decorated with beautiful prints and eclectic objects. The bed was king sized with a good quality mattress and clean sheets, bedding and pillows. The shared living spaces included a full kitchen, lounge, bar and 1/2 bath. The atmosphere was whimsical with interesting artwork and carved objects from around the world. Peaceful vibe! The grounds have running brooks, several fire pits, hammocks and furniture nooks to sit and relax to while away the hours in nature. You can hike to a summit with stunning views! There is a very clean in-ground pool to enjoy. Top off your stay with a 5 star meal in the Tavern. No disappointments and a very attentive staff. We will definitely go back and bring friends and family to enjoy the experience!

What a fun place! Stayed with a big group, and we enjoyed wandering the property and exploring. We were able to relax by the firepit after a nice day of skiing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Customer service was spot-on! Anything we needed was a text away! Really loved this unique, comfy spot!

When we reserved our room, we purchased the dinner package, which included a three course dinner at Stagecoach Tavern. The website stated that gratuity was included in the package because "we have raised our prices to provide better wages for our staff." With the lack of a front desk & seemingly no internal system for keeping track of guests, this "package" proved to be difficult & frustrating to redeem. The staff didn't seem to to know about our 6:45 dinner reservation, let alone our dinner package. But eventually we were led to a table where we sat & waited. & waited. We waited so long, without anyone visiting our table to even take our drink order, that we had time to notice some disturbing things around us. 1. Lipstick stains on the cloth napkins. 2. Lipstick gunk on the water glasses. 3. Flies buzzing around everywhere. 4. Other patrons looking annoyed & restless. About 15 minutes into our sit, another couple was led to a table next to us. Then the server returned to take their drink order. Then they received their drinks. Then they ordered food. ... All before anyone spoke to us. At one point, we made note that they might know the owner. In that case, how embarrassing for Stagecoach Tavern to have a dining room full of restless guests & continuing to only dote on the customers they know personally. Bad practice. Finally, after about almost an hour of sitting, a very stressed bartender noticed us. He stopped to take our drink order, despite our table being very obviously out of his jurisdiction. He was out of breath & agitated, so we didn't think it was a good time to bring up our alleged "package." We just ordered "whatever can be made quickly," since we had a concert to get to. My partner ordered the burger. I ordered the fried fish. He was quickly on his way. Then the special table next to us received their food. Our table was still empty, except for the lipstick stained napkins, the lipstick gunked water glasses, & the flies. There was a table of 3 near us that had been already sitting when we arrived at Stagecoach Tavern. They were restless & clearly upset. When they finally got a chance, they flagged down the elusive server (who had still not visited our table) to ask for their food to-go. They couldn't wait any longer. We watched in horror as the server gave no explanation, no apology, & no discount to the table of 3 that was requesting their "fine dining" to-go because it was taking so long. After speaking with the table of 3, the server finally came to our table. It had been OVER an HOUR since we had been sat. She didn't realize that the bartender had been by, so she asked us what she could get us to drink. We told her that we didn't need to order anything, as we had already spoken with the bartender. I did request replacement water glasses, though. We also asked if our two entrees could be covered by our dinner "package" because we didn't have the time to wait for a three-course meal at this point. She said no. We asked her to check with a manager. The VIP table next to us had completely finished their meal & were waiting for the check, at this time. We didn't hear back from her & didn't receive new water glasses. Eventually, our drinks & food were dropped at our table by a member of the kitchen staff. My partner said the burger was phenomenal. The fried fish dish was a nice medley of flavors. I particularly enjoyed the unique blueberry/dill combination. It was, unfortunately, tedious to eat & not enough food. I knew I would still be hungry, but we certainly didn't have the time or patience to order anything else. The concert was due to begin at any moment, so I left the tavern to head over to the venue, leaving my partner with the unsavory job of settling the bill (thank you, love you.) Apparently they did eventually call it a wash, as our two drinks & two entrees tallied up to a total that was far less than what the dinner package could potentially include. My partner left a $20 bill on the bar for the bartender. After the fact, we were charged $185 for the dinner package that was supposed to be included in our room reservation. They included a $24 restaurant gratuity charge which really tied my knickers in a knot, considering their spiel about raising staff pay & included gratuity. Even if you build your own three course dinner by ordering the most expensive starter, entree, & dessert off the menu, you still won't tally up a $185 bill. The dinner package is a scam. After repeated attempts to contact their customer service (again, there's no front desk) we finally received a refund for the dinner package. What a disaster. Where is management?

This unique and quaint respite in Sheffield provides both an indoor and outdoor relaxing food and drink experience. It was too cold to go outdoors, but they did have a fire pit going in case one wanted to brave the elements. Inside the restaurant you will experience a variety of different seating choices. From booths to tables to private fireplace options, you could go back again and again without sitting in a cookie-cutter type table. The inside is decorated with a variety of historic stagecoach memorabilia. Very cool. Onto the food. Dining started out with the sourdough basket appetizer. Fresh toasted sourdough bread with a buttery garlic side cup is a solid opener choice. You get plenty of bread for two or more to share. The shrimp and scallop risotto main entrée was terrific even the risotto critic couldn't argue. Fairly good sized with a respectable amount of both shrimp and scallops. The risotto had a nice Parmesan topping with a touch of lemon. Now, the Chick lien pot pie was outstanding! A sweet pastry topping kicks this decadent special. Lots of flavor in every spoonful. They've got a fantastic talented bartender, who has some great drink suggestions that might tempt you to go off menu.

Since we were driving from Cambridge to Egremont -- about three hours -- to celebrate a special occasion with friends who live nearby, we called to ask whether they could make an exception. The manager gladly did. A few hours before the reservation, however, the OWNER called and brusquely informed us that they do not take reservations for parties of four and that "maybe they could accommodate us," before launching into an unnecessary lecture about their 5+ policy -- essentially cancelling our reservation. Why do that to your customers? Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. When we arrived, he was again rude and dismissive, seating us at a tiny table in the corner of the bar that was clearly too small for dinner. Thankfully, the manager stepped in, rescued the evening, and moved us to the main dining room, where we ended up having a wonderful night with our friends. She also checked in throughout the evening to make sure our experience improved, and her professionalism genuinely turned things around. As for the food: we ordered the Smoked Fish Pate appetizer, the Grilled Salmon, and the Artichoke and Goat Cheese Ravioli. The pate was exceptional -- layered, balanced, and memorable. The salmon was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and refreshingly not buried under heavy marinades. The ravioli was also excellent. Dessert was a rich chocolate cake that capped off an otherwise delightful meal. The decor, service, and overall comfort were all A+. This easily could have been a five-star evening, but the owner's unjustified hostility convinced me that this is not a place I would return to.

Ah, but go when it's quiet and not only will the service be friendly and attentive, the food will sparkle taste buds and fill the belly. We went for dinner at around 6:30 and an early crowd was on its way out. Our timing was just right. Our drinks and food came promptly. But shortly after our entrees arrived, 3 different families came in one after another in parties of 8, 4, and 4, and they all ordered alcohol, i think margaritas because the guy who had taken our order was no sooner behind the bar filling out drink orders. There was only one other server. But the drinks... Yes to the margarita. Delicious and fresh, not with artificial sour mix but with real citrus. I had lemonade, which was fresh and not too sweet. And the food... yum. The salsa has a little smokiness (chipotle?) which made the chips go down way too fast. I ordered a vegetarian molcajete, a hot mortar bowl filled with rice, beans, and vegetables. I took the leftovers home and had the rest for lunch the next day. It was too big for me to finish at dinner after having the best tostones I think I've ever had at a restaurant. The tostones were perfectly crunchy on the outside and served over a pad of guacamole. The only thing i didn't like about the food were the flour tortillas, which i mostly didn't eat. I react to xanthan gum and guar gum and hence aware when foods contain them. These tortillas were too stretchy to not have one of these additives. But it's hard to get flour tortillas these days without it. (They do exist!) We will definitely be back. I hope they figure out the serving staff situation soon. I would be perfectly happy eating there if we had to order at the counter.

And then there's Industry Kitchen. Somehow this place manages to feel completely at home in town while also giving you the vibe that you've stumbled into a great little spot in a much bigger food scene. It's warm, lively, and the kind of place where you walk in thinking "quick bite" and leave two hours later wondering why you don't come more often. The food has gotten better and better over the years, which is saying something because it started strong. The menu now hits that sweet spot where there's truly something for everyone -- great apps, excellent burgers and comfort food, and rotating entrees and specials that actually feel thoughtful instead of like menu filler. On our last visit we rolled in later than the normal dinner rush after a school event. No problem. We shared some of their reimagined flatbreads, a salad, and a few apps and it was exactly what we needed. The wings are fantastic. The bang bang shrimp might require a moment of silence. And the flatbreads are the kind of thing you order "for the table" and then quietly hope no one else notices the last slice. If you've been thinking about trying Industry Kitchen but haven't yet, go. It delivers way more than you'd expect from a quiet little corner of Railroad Street. And if you already go? Go more often. Canaan is lucky to have this place. And your dinner plans should probably involve it. I'm looking forward to trying more of their new pasta creations. P.S. Pro tip: ask them to double cut your flatbread. It turns it into the perfect shareable situation and saves everyone from the awkward "who's getting the giant slice?" P.S.S. Check out their new family tray meals. Their outside sign writes, 'Connecticut's New York Style Pizza'. Hubs and I shrugged our shoulders and said our Hail Marys. Friday was chilly- so it felt good walking in to this small pizza joint and feeling toasty. Our table was sprayed with a cleaning solution and wiped down. And in the times we're living in now, I appreciate that- and not just 'wiped' with a dry rag. The menu has appetizers, salads, entrees, etc- we're here for pizza. I didn't see a mushroom pie- but I was told they can make one. I skipped that thought and decided on the Margherita while hubs went for 1/2 pepperoni+1/2 plain. Lemme mention- this is not the place to get artisanal pies with the charred spots I love. This is just straight up, good NYC dough- and I actually loved it. The crust had a wonderful slight crunch with an excellent chew. The rest of the dough was delightful too. The sauce had some seasoning (which I never like)- theirs was nice and not overwhelming. I adore cheese (American cheese has never been part of my lexicon)- but when it comes to my pizza, I like a good ratio of it and not too much of it. I mean...is there such thing as too much cheese on a regular slice or pie? Unless I'm asking for 'extra cheese' on my pie- then that's a different story. My Margherita had a very tasty feel- but needed to dial back on the basil and less cheese would've had me ordering another one to take home. Service from Stephanie was friendly and we enjoyed that feeling here. Music played in the background without taking over. Overall, Roma is where you want to be with something for everyone. Plus, it dished up a real good pie at that with awesome prices for each of our 6-slice Small pies.
