So I ordered my bike online. With this being said, my bike came in and the derailleur needed adjustment and the seat on the bike was super uncomfortable. So I called and was told to bring my bike it. I rode over (just couldn't use first gear), not only did they adjust my bike in what seemed like seconds, I got a new seat and a tool kit while here. The also adjusted the front fender on my BFF's bike. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and this included us talking a lot. I highly recommend the Bicycle House and you would be crazy if you went somewhere else.

Jim's provided a very nice, used Campagnolo Record rear derailleur, new chain and cable, and trued the rear wheel. Bike now looks great, the total repair cost was very reasonable and just took a few days. Excellent service... until! First test ride the new derailleur fell apart leaving me stranded again. I managed to collect all the parts and returned to Jim's. Three days later bike was "fixed". Turns out the front derailleur is no longer working - with some effort I fixed that myself. And the chain is too long. I'm planning on fixing that myself too - I'm not going back to Jim's.

I returned to his shop, which is actually his house, to have new tires put on the bike and for adjustment. I specifically told him that I did not want Chinese tires to replace the Continental German handmade tires that I had. He assured me that I would get "Continental" tires. The tires he put on the bike are Chinese tires and I consider them inferior and unsafe. The bike had Mavic French made wheels when I purchased it and when I took it to Ken Denney for maintenance. After getting the bike back I noticed that the front wheel had been replaced with a cheap wheel and the $170 Mavic wheel was not there. He tried to say that the wheel had not been replaced, but clearly the back wheel is a Mavic wheel. It appears as though he may have wanted to sell my Mavic to another customer. He became very irate when I questioned him and hung up on me. If you take your bike to this guy, which I do not recommend, make sure he does not perform a switch on you. I now must replace the tires and the front wheel. Beware.

I made the quick trip to Prospect to Jeffs bicycle repair. He let me try several bikes around the neighborhood. I was given good instruction how to drive them. I was shown the differences between the different bikes. They had several different suppliers and models to test. I ended up ordering one and a bike rack also. They will be putting it together for me when it comes in. I was super impressed by the customer service and happy to support a local business.

Incredibly poor customer service! They were great for the sale, but not afterwards…read more We purchased a new bike from Whitman's Bike Shop with a full manufacturer's warranty. After only light usage the bike developed issues that made it unusable. When we reached out to Whitman's to bring the bike back for warranty service they said to wait while they contacted the manufacturer. A week went by with no response. We then called back and were told the same thing again. We waited some more but Whitman's still did not call back. On the last attempt, my wife was left on hold for 20 minutes and then got disconnected. She then decided to contact the manufacturer directly and spoke to someone within minutes. They worked with us and in the end determined that they would replace the bike through an authorized dealer. We asked if we could do the exchange at a different shop. Our new bike & repair shop is about an hour away, but they are professional and responsive. They got the bike in for evaluation immediately and are handling the warranty going forward. If we were luckier we would simply have gotten the bike from them to begin with. It definitely would have been less stressful. The bottom line is it doesn't matter how friendly or knowledgeable you are selling the bike if you don't follow through when there is a problem with a purchase. Delaying until the customer gives up (or the warranty expires?) hurts both your reputation and the manufacturer you are representing. It's not good business, basically like not having the warranty at all.
