We're trying all the local fish sandwiches during Lent and this one is in our top 3. We all ordered beer battered fish with different sides so we could comment on all the options. They also offer baked or breaded fish. The size and the flavor were top notch. Just not a fan of the bun they used. It was too soft and squishy, and most likely, it came from Wal-Mart. French fries, Cole slaw and onion rings as sides were all very good. Service was quick and efficient even though there was a sign on the door that they were short staffed. Our waitress ran her tail off! Atmosphere is as you'd expect from a sports bar type of place. Lots of neon signage and walls covered in stuff and many TVs. Went three times. First two times the food was great, service was great. Tonight? TERRIBLE. Had a cook come out and GLARE at our table and SIGH at us when we complained that an order was not correct. Waiter never refilled our drinks, I had to go up to the bar to get refills, and THEN the bartender was rude, ignorant, snotty. Fries were COLD, food was WRONG, sandwiches were GREASY. Only decent thing was the stromboli, which came out 8 minutes before my WRONG order. Save your money, head up on 30 to Dino's or Sharky's if you actually want quality food, quick service and staff that isn't incompetent. The establishment is both restaurant and bar - during the day it's a restaurant and then at night it transforms into a bar and night club. Although I did not experience the restaurant itself, I did get an opportunity to experience the place as the night club it presented itself on a recent Saturday evening. Their beer selection, I was told, was quite extensive, but when I asked for a list the waitress had to ask the bartender to help answer my question. And he unfortunately treated the question as though it were a bit of a waste of time for him. After rattling some names of domestic beers, I asked if they offered any craft and the one that he knew was the one I went with. I waited for someone to drop by our table so we could order more to drink, but nobody came until late in the evening when we were getting ready to leave. I was surprised at the poor service, being it was definitely a slow night for them. The night club had a cover charge for a local band that was playing 90s music, none of which I was familiar with (so I guess I'm showing my age.) Anyway, they must have been expecting a larger than normal crowd as the building was very cold and the music was way louder than it should have been. Although the band was talented, the majority of the folks who were in attendance were obviously family members and close friends. After about four-songs, the folks I was with decided to ditch the place and head to the local Eat n Park for a late night snack. read more

This evening I purchased a "house salad" and a pepperoni pizza from a place touted as "good" by locals. Instead, a I received a very standard tasting pizza with a four-dollar salad that consisted of yellowed ends, a "chunk" of tomato that was well past its prime, four rings of red onion the size of pickle chips, and one, yes, one cucumber slice (tiny.) It was served with a giant portion of "Italian" dressing, the container of which occupied a large part of the seemingly barren container. I decided to call Racer's and talk to a manager, and I regretted even doing this. Rather than accepting the "head's up, your product wasn't up to par", I spoke with a surly lady who said that nobody ever complained before about their food and said that she did not check that order. She asked me what I wanted to do, and I said that I should put the picture up on Facebook. I know it's a salad, but come on, this is a disappointment. The pizza was plain, and I do mean plain, despite he presence of pepperoni. The cheese was unnoticeable and the sauce was the generic slightly sweet tomato flavored product that is common in this area. I will never, ever, come here again. This place has really changed for the better. The old racers was great if your thing was drug deals and fighting. After the renovations, the place has changed significantly for the better. On the food side, I have to say their naked wings are perhaps the best in the area. A little pricey but they are just what I like. It's a bit expensive for lunch for those on the go but not unreasonable. Service is good and I've never been disappointed. Kudos to the owners who took this nuisance bar and turned it into something nice. They did a service for the community. I've never been there during bands etc because I'm too old for that sort of crazy so I can't tell you what it's like when they have entertainment. Like I said, order the naked wings. Great place. I typically take the family there. The menu is diverse and they have special food nights. Wings and pizza are very good (I only get my wings naked). We give the spaghetti and ribs very good reviews too. The homemade chips are also very tasty as a starter. The service is always top notch. The place has been totally overhauled in recent years and is very clean, cozy and relaxed. As a family we sometimes eat in the bar area and enjoy the sports bar decor. read more

Just moved into the area. Stopped in for supper on Wednesday and both my husband and I ordered the Stuffed Cabbages. They were excellent! Took two of our friends there for dinner on Thursday. I ordered the Garlic Chicken, and again, it was excellent! My only complaint regarding those two meals? We ordered the Cheesecake with Strawberries to share at the end of both meals. It was served with fresh, sliced Strawberries on Wednesday and was delicious. On Thursday it was served with an extremely sweet and gooey Strawberry sauce. It was so sweet, I couldn't eat but a couple of bites. Lesson learned ... I will ask before ordering ever again. My husband and I stopped after church on Sunday to experience the brunch. We were not disappointed! Everything I tried was very tasty. They had bread pudding, and it was excellent! Very few restaurants offer bread pudding. The staff was very nice and helpful. After hearing how good the food was at Racers, I finally got the time today to try it out. The food was delicious and all the great reviews I got told to me was right on the mark. Not only was the food AWESOME, the staff there was also AWESOME!!! Robin the manager gave us some wings to try and I'm picky about wings, the were big, flavorful and it was great to get wings that actually were bigger than a pinky finger. The waitress was so nice and personable. I wish I would have gotten her name. I will definitely be a returning customer. The people I was with also loved it. Can't wait to try the buffet out. If you haven't tried it out, you should and you won't regret it. I actually give it 10 Stars!!!!! From the soup and salad to the steak, Shrimp, Wings and sides we were EXTREMELY THRILLED WITH RACERS!!! Once you visit it, you also will become a regular there. read more

Very disappointed with my visit tonight. Everyone received their food and I was told mine would take an additional 6 minutes. My server also clarified my order which was wrong and now my order had to be remade completely. I received my food after everyone was finished and ate alone. Our checks came and i asked what he would do for my food seeing as though it was messed up and i received it 20 minutes after everyones elses order. He said he could give me a dessert. But couldnt tell me what they had...so nvm if i wanted a dessert i would have ordered one.. I haven't been back since the time there were ants in my pizza. Very disappointed. read more

I never complain cause I served in the restaurant industry for 10 plus years, but the servers would all walk past my empty drink multiple times, then I asked another sever and instead of her getting it for me I then had to wait for my sever to give to me and waited so I went to the bar and she slammed the water down in front of me and said here's your water. I will never return again because of the rude servers. Everyone helps everyone even if busy in the industry and doesn't cock an attitude no matter what, I was never rude I just wanted a dam water. read more

Normally, this is one of mine and my fiancees favorite places to eat, especially chicken wings, but tonight was the worst experience we ever had.... We got there about 6. Our order wasn't put in the system (according the manager on staff) until 6:40.... 40 minutes after we got there, seated, ordered our meals including appetizers, and got our drinks. An hour later, after waiting for drinks and still have not receiving any food, I complained. (There were two to three other tables that walked in about a half hour after we got there that received their food and was out before we even got our appetizers.) I asked for a manager and she lucky gave our table free drinks and offered to recook wings that were not well done, like we ordered, and she stated they only take about 10 minutes to cook (then why did we wait a hour and a half for our food to come out and another 15 minutes for corrected food).... Tonight the food was horrible because we waited so long and the food was completely wrong when it came out. We understand when establishments are short staffed, I am a bartender myself.. . but dont forget about your tables and for sure dont forget to drop a check... And if you do.... Make sure your stuffs correct. That will Probably be our last time at races. Thanks for the bomb food and staff when we had a good experience. read more

I just tried Racer's for the first time today and had a great experience! The food was so good, the service was great, and so was the cost!

My husband and I came here to see a band. I was rather impressed with the building additions and improvements. (I grew up in Latrobe and know what this bar used to be) However, you can change the looks and menu of a place but it definitely still has ALL the riff raff that it used to!! I was basically pushed out of my seat at the bar when some of the "locals" came in. It was soooo bad that we heard 3 songs and left. I will see the band at a different venue. I ended up taking food home....burger had lots of gristle in it and the pizza was plain and average at best!! read more

Not a bad sports bar to go to only problem is that they built an addition which makes the dining room echo but overall not a bad place for food and fun....their burgers are fresh and cooked to perfection and they have fresh buns that have a buttery taste to them...the burger is seasoned and they have all kinds of concoctions that leave you wanting to come back for more...the brunch on Sunday is a thing of beauty, they make you a fresh omelet right on the brunch bar and it's with fresh toppings which when cooked gives you the bliss your lips desire! They have crispy bacon and savory sausage on the bar and they throw a lunch treat in here and there...we got to try and orange chicken which I wasn't so sure about but it changed my mind it was really good...we have also gotten delivery from here and the wings are pretty good but I do recommend not getting sauce on them because they are crispy and crunchy on their own and the chicken itself has a great flavor that can only be described for yourself by tasting them...this place is never gonna let you down...also check out the bands and mystery theater and comedians that put on shows here because it's a change of pace for anyone who wants something different to do...it's all around good read more

Went to Racers in Latrobe for dinner this evening. HORRIBLE experience! The service was awful, the food was mediocre at best and it took us forever to get our food. All told it took an hour and 20 minutes to get our food, eat and get out. I could understand if the place was busy but is was sparse this evening. While our server was pleasant enough, our drinks sat empty until my son walked to the bar for refills, dishes were not bussed and there was never a check back to see if our food was OK. (It wasn't) When my son complained, the manager was shitty with him. My advice? Don't waste your time OR money! read more

Recommened by a relative, my family and I ordered take out fom Racers. We ordered fish sandwiches which were highly recommended. I specifically asked for topping for the sandwiches and condiment on the side. Upon getting my order home we quickly noted that the fish sandwiches were burnt. Over cooked in the fryer until they were a dark brown color. No toppings were present on any of the sandwiches and condiments are also absent. The fish tasted burnt as well. I should note the restaurant was dead upon picking up the order. None of the fish sandwiches should have made it to a plate. The cook should have tossed them and started from scratch. Sending this food out the door was inexcusable. Will not return. read more

If you plan on making reservations here, especially on a holiday, don't bother. Our table of 11 were basically kicked out after just over an hour of being there because the next party was coming in. i have nothing good to say about this place. I went there the other evening and tried to use a gift card that was given to me. They said they couldn't accept it because there system changed and it won't recognize it. This card is not a year old. The waitress said she would refer it to the manager which i left my name and phone number. Needless to say the manager never called me back. When i finally got hold of her she said she couldn't help me and got the owner. He got on the line and was so rude and ignorant and said he would not help me and hung up on me. I never in my life encountered such rudeness. I tried to call back and he put the phone off the hook. Is this how a businessman should act. He needs some anger management classes. I will never recommend this place and will bad mouth them to everyone i know. You try to help the local business in your area and get slapped in the face. This is why your chain restaurants are so popular they know to treat their customers. Is good customer service something of the past or Racers just don't care. I did not deserve to be treated like that and i will never ever be back and that arrogant owner is disgusting. My niece and nephew would buy me these gift cards every year. Well that has ended and my poor niece is out of $40. You just lost some good customers and i have no respect for the owner or his restaurant. You better clean up you act. read more
