Dr Elizabeth Greenlees literally saved my dogs life... since we moved to BI from CA in Dec of 2015…read moreour baby girl had one thing after another go wrong, from a cyst on her leg, to a torn ACL, and skin allergies with medication that was killing her slowly... I called Dr Greenlees looking for someone to have sympathy and empathy and help us to put her to sleep... she came to the house with this in mind but also with the idea that IF we could save her and help her without huge costs and with the quality of life she deserved we would definitely love to keep her alive. We tried a little cocktail of medicines the day before Thanksgiving, and literally in days she was her old self! Being only 8-1/2 she's still a young dog... a puppy sometimes! She is my sons favorite of our 2 dogs, honestly for all of us... we were beside ourselves for days awaiting Dr G's arrival, thinking Thanksgiving Day we would be grateful for have knowing our Nala... but instead, we will have Christmas with her and New Years and possibly many more years to come... I can't thank her enough, but I will spread her name all over to anyone I know with pets! She's the best and I'll recommend her to anyone and everyone I meet! Thank You Dr Greenlees!!! You're the best Vet ever!!! UPDATE. Dr Greenlees eventually did have to come back and help us send Nala across the rainbow bridge. And with my 4 year old son right next to us, she explained EVERY detail to us both, what was happening, how and why. He didn't even cry because he was so enthralled by the science and love in it. Dr Greenlees is one of the most amazing vets I've known to this day. I still continue to recommend her even though I'm no longer on the island, I still have friends there. I hope she knows how much she means to our family and if you choose her as your pets primary caregiver you will agree!

She makes house calls and we hadn't wanted to take them into the veterinarian office. With our last dog, he had been into the vets office so much, with tests and poking, that he had come to dislike it. Liz came to our home and helped us, to help him. We were able to hold him in our laps, and love him to the last moment. He was relaxed and calm as we talked to him and I repeatedly kissed his head. She was kind and compassionate with our grief. No one ever wants to put to sleep a beloved friend, yet it is a gentle experience with the right vet. We feel like we did right by our dog. The next dog we get, I plan to use plan to call Liz from the get go. I'd like to meet her when I'm happy and not only a crying mess.

However....on July 7th at 10:15am, whichever front desk assistant was working, needs customer service training right away!! We called because after our pups 3 year annual check up on April 30th m, we told the doctor that the Trio tablets he was taking was difficult for him and would always spit it out. This is the heart worm, flea and ticker pill. We asked to change to the NEX/Heartgard chewables because he liked those. No problem. They put in order for us to pick up at Costco after is May pill to start in June. This is where everything after went downhill. Called the VCA end of May for the order. Asked about Heartgard Plus and they said it wouldn't be a problem and we'd pick it up from Costco. Went to Costco to pick up the medication and almost couldn't get it because our pups name was spelled wrong. Then they had some other address on Silverdale Way (where we never lived before in our lives) but thankfully our phone number and my name was right. The order was just the NEXgard. Ok..... So I called the VCA and asked if we could still the place a prescription order for the Heartgard Plus or just the Heartgard because Costco only gave us the NEXgard. The lady states "we don't carry Nexgard or Heartgard". I said that I know and that's why we had the prescription ordered to Costco. She then states "How about we start with your name" which I did state who I was in the beginning but...got it. Then she proceeds to tell me that our pup "would need to be tested for heart worms before on a medication otherwise he'd die". That's where I was turned off quickly. He JUST had his annual check up, why didn't they do it then? I told her that I saw his screening need to be done in March and we were told that was part of it. Nope! Called the other VCA on Bucklin Hill and they asked the same questions I did. In short, we went to VCA for our pup at Bucklin Hill for an emergency and the staff was wonderful, unlike the one here on Bryon St. There's literally no parking here. Office is small. Doctors are short with you as well to get you in and out. Definitely just business here and not community friendly.

Dr. Adams is not the problem in this clinic, it is his staff and the communication between them all. I was quoted an amount of $180-280 for services (the difference was called a "med buffer" by the tech. This amount, I was told by the vet tech, would cover the best case scenario: sedation, checking out the abscess to be sure it was in fact an abbesses and the antibiotics to try to take care of it. The tech said the dr. would call me to discuss further. When Adams called to say the cat needed a larger procedure that would cost about $1000 to drain the abscess, I asked to hold off and to sit with just the antibiotics I had discussed with the tech (through the weekend). On Monday I would revisit the draining if necessary as it was very pricy. Adams said ok. I was never told this would cost anything above what the tech and I had discussed ("up to $280" she had said, depending on meds) When we went to pick her up that evening, they said the bill was $440. (No longer the max of ~$280, as discussed with the vet tech) The tech never showed me the computer screen breakdown of costs NOR did she give a print-out. At any other vet you receive a print-out of treatment. This office had the audacity to ask me later on the phone: "well, did you even ask for a copy?" Nice business practices? No. Now I see why the Poulsbo Veterinary Clinic had immediate availability today and other vets did not- they are failing their clients.
